  1. Can you freefall it beyond sub-terminal? The spec sheet only talks about 6-10s delays... 10s is practically terminal anyways. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  2. Did two jumps on the Venom (mostly backflying and swooping puffy clouds) and I'm hooked. It's very fast and glides well which is a nice surprise, I was expecting more slow and floaty. Once my arms stop trying to fly a vampire I'll be set. I can't wait to put more jumps on it when I get back. Edit to add the gps graph This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  3. 6'7" and 215ish I get to take a few months off jumping shortly, but I'll probably lose 20 pounds by the time I come back
  4. The spandex sleeve makes the cuffs look short, the armwing isn't too small at all. I've got an ~83" wingspan, and the suit is very close. I haven't flown this suit yet, but it's got much thinner wings than the x-birds I've seen/flown and it's noticeably lighter as well. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  5. I just got a big box from FedEx (finally)! Great quality suit and I can't wait to fly it
  6. That's kind of messed up to say. If Robi wants to cancel it and issue a refund that's up to him. Waiting for a new wingsuit is like waiting on the results from a paternity test. Why prolong someone else's wait? In five years I've got 50 prodigy, 70 phantom, 200 raptor and r-bird and 100 vampire3 skydives along with some others on demos and borrowed suits. Until a while ago my profile said "Jumps: 200" and probably wasn't up to the internet wingsuit-police standards; before I changed the number though GASP!! I ordered a new wingsuit (a Venom). I'm another faceless emailer now and I doubt Jarno or Robi remembers me from the last Flock and Dock I attended (was it 4? was Jarno even there?)... please don't encourage someone "lose" an order, as you can see they seem to get lost on their own or in transit easily enough. 7. That's not bad since new ones cost at least three times that. I picked one up a couple months ago and love it. It'll even do limited harness work with 5cord and a bigger needle, but the bobbin is too small to hold very much and you're limited by the foot (you can eek maybe an extra 1/8" by adjusting things). Locking the balance wheel to the shaft gives it incredible punch, but you have to disengage the lock to wind bobbins. Check out http://www.sailrite.com/ for extras and supplies, their prices are pretty good too. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  8. I believe this was the point from pages ago... Adding weights and more suit material increases mass. Larger suits have increased surface area vs smaller ones, creating more form drag, The conservation of energy will reflect this mass increase with larger friction forces; increased form drag will result in more disturbance. This will make flying closer to someone with a larger suit or a massive body more difficult. I'm both massive and fly large suits, come get an ankle dock on me This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  9. I'd imagine wingsuits get the same considerations as washing a canopy. I remember seeing some tips on washing them on here a long time ago... but I can't find them now. How would newer suits with things like mylar ribs handle a washing machine anyways? ps: +1 for the webcam! I think it may crash your site though, with all of us checking it throughout the day and shouting, "sew faster!" at our laptops. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  10. They may smell like a new car at first... one summer later they all smell like a sweaty pair of running clothes. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  11. Hahaha you and me both. I check for new packages like an anxious child. Eight weeks is up, I need a nylon crack fix! This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  12. This is one of the most awesome things I've ever seen and I'm not even Canadian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meLpuF9UMvk This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  13. Any other comparisons between the Venom and the X? I flew the Xbird and can't wait to get my hands on a Venom. This isn't flying, its falling with style.

  15. I'm too lazy to read through the huge thread in the event's forum... if some wingsuiters are going then I'll try to show up with a couple too. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  16. "Our Oath is to the Constitution." And many other things, depending on which oath you swore to. Scroll past the youtube videos and you'll find a clearer explanation, kinda, This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  17. Even posse commitatus has its own exceptions and limitations, and it gets amended or waived nearly any time a natural disaster/riot/emergency occurs. You can't rigidly interpret and apply the tenets (as the foundation statements seem to do) of fluid laws or principles (posse commitatus/the insurrection act). Understanding your oath/the constitution and their impact on your job is great but I would hesitate to call for disobedience except in the clearest circumstances based on my understanding of either. Respectfully refusing works for clearly illegal orders (it may also get you burned). Beyond a simple, clear definition of 'illegal' rather than pause to debate and educate ourselves on each potential issue as it arises, we defer to our superiors and their knowledge and do what we're told. 18. Interesting post. Some guys were handing out brochures for the Oath Keepers outside the PX a few months ago. I think simple contradictions exist between their foundation statements and the oaths that service members take. I know mine and my subordinates’ oaths, in their entirety; many people forget everything after the first statement. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  19. I've had soldiers who truly thought they were nazis, robots, or any multitude of notably stupid things. Some servicemembers can't keep their mouths shut, but doesn't mean they are intelligent (or not), nor are they an accurate representation of anyone else. Such stupidity isn't predominant to any rank, race, gender or occupational specialty, it's not even exclusive to the military; but no matter who's got it, they feel the need to share it. Thanks for sharing your's on such a regular basis. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  20. Get the 168 This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  21. I was thinking about ordering an x-bird but I think I'll wait and see what this new suit is. How does it compare to other suits size wise? This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  22. Pulling low isn't the cool rebel thing it used to be (or that I've heard the old timers talk about). If you want to be a true rebel and showcase your natural abilities then radically downsize your main and hook a 270 near the most observable object you can find Wuffos think jumping from a plane is crazy, some skydivers think pulling low is crazy. We have to find our own levels of acceptable risk. Don't ever hurt anyone else, try not to hurt yourself and if you do break the rules (USPA/wherever or the DZO's) be prepared and accept your consequences. $0.02 from a sometimes low puller. 23. The FlySight CSV is obviously more precise, giving position, velocity and time and it's also insanely simple to work with. The only reason I'd convert it at all would be to plot a track on google earth and that doesn't require nearly the same level of accuracy. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  24. If you clean up the csv file to look like this (universal csv with field structure in the first line) it'll be fine in gpsabel: lat, lon, alt, speed 53.6322164,-114.1941555,4443.29,33.84814323 ps. I have an old gpsbabel so the flysight csv may be supported fully in a newer version edit: guess it's not supported... file conversion is super easy though and I'm eager to plot my wingsuit flailing in 5hz google earth glory :) This isn't flying, its falling with style.
