  1. I'm thinking my name better get on that list or someone's gonna be in trouble.
  2. There were nine on yours - you left off Willie F.
  3. I don't know. You may wish to contact RWS directly and communicate to them that you'd like to test jump the intentional cutaway and ask if they are intending to bring a demo rig to WFFC.
  4. Exact same words Mark said when explaining the effect. I'm going to test the Skyhook at Skyfest.
  5. This weekend I was attending the Skydie Dallas 4th Boogie. On one of the jumps, skydiver from Aggieland is not too far under me as we're headed towards the DZ around 1200 feet. He's checking things out really hard which makes me notice the single, not yet ugly, line-over. He looks around and down to make sure his air is clear, puts his hand on his cutaway handle and chops. I'm literally astounded. His reserve was out, open and he was at line-stretch at what looked to be the length of his reserve lines. Poof! I walked up to him and said, "Man, that has to be the fastest reserve opening, I've ever seen." And he said, "That's the Skyhook, pretty awesome, huh?" I am impressed. It was about the same as handing someone your D-bag and stepping off a bridge. No longer than that. Think I'll test jump one while at Skyfest.

In Paint (ref:F1)... On the Image menu, click Attributes. Under Units, click the unit of measurement you want to use for the width and height. Type the measurements in Width and Height. Notes You can also resize your picture by dragging the image resize handles, located at the lower-right corner and along the bottom and right sides of your picture. (You might need to maximize the window to see the square resize handles.) If your current picture is bigger than the new size, the picture is cut from the right side and bottom to fit within the smaller area. If your current picture is smaller than the new size, the extra area is filled with the selected background color
  7. Got my undergraduate degree mostly on the GI bill. Got my graduate degree on student loans which I paid off with every cent I earned over the next couple of years.
  8. J Mike, while you make a good point and I "believe" your hypothesis is mostly true, I also "believe" that students give you certain "ques' that lend to the thoughts of "I'm probably going to have to short-line this one." A couple of examples from my experience would be the elderly gentleman who did well in training, but as he was going out to the strut to hang, stopped short, looked at the strut, looked at me, looked back at the strut then turned on one foot on the strut placed his hands across his chest and pivoted on the one foot indicating that he was going to be spinning while leaving (which he did). The other was the professional boxer, who did some kind of pull-up, then brought his knees into his chest at the same time and shoved backwards with his arms beginning a flipping sequence, I let it go one 360 and when his pack tray was facing 180 of the flight line snatched the static-line short so it would deploy in the windstream behind him rather than in front of the windstream and flying back into him during the flips.
  9. Mine is blue & White tie-dye. The binding tape is navy. All of it, including the leg straps. I did not scotchguard it. I do get the occasional grass stain on my 3rd point of contact once in awhile (right butt cheek where the laegstrap is). I take it home, soak just the grass stain with some color-free cheer, take a soft brush to it and then rinse thoroughly and let it dry. Every winter I bathe the container. My region has lots of wind and dust. Two years old, couple/three hundred jumps and it looks new. Now my tandem rig on the other hand....
  10. I would suggest to them that it might be better to focus 100% on family and work.
  11. That would be a great idea. Anything with safety in mind is good.
  12. Has the 500 ram-air jumps experience requirement changed for Vector?
  13. I was the organizer for setting new Oklahoma Records for most skydives in 12 hours out of a C-182 for a couple of years; 64 the first year and 104 last year. Some suggestions: 1. Standardized Rigs (same main, reserve, container). 2. Standardized packing methodology (we had a class prior to the event) 3. Cypres equipped. 4. Suggested exit altitude - >/=4,000' 5.No less than two gear checks - one by a dedicated person other than a packer after the packing is completed and one on the person prior to boarding. 6. Pin Check prior to exit. 7. Dedicated landing area - everyone else lands elsewhere. 8. Lots of fluids the day before (prehydration) and lots of fluids during the event. 9. The jumper should stay away from caffeine-enhanced drinks during the event. 10. Safety briefing for all involved prior to the event. 11. Dedicated areas of responsbility - Senior Packer, Rigger, JMPI, radios, etc. 12. Dedicated medical personnel to "view" everyone to ensure for proper hydration. 13. After about 15 jumps, the jumper will become tired - encourage taking the PLF rather than forcing the landing when needed. 14. No alcohol the day before - for anyone involved. 15. All stop every fifty minutes for a minimum ten minute break. ref: Number 1. If standardized rigs are not an option, then what we did was place "like" systems in order. All Javelins, then all Dolphins, etc. When the system was changed, I had the jumper practice two EP's in front of me and suggested multiple on the ride up. Those were just some of my rules - Take what you want from it. Hope that helps. Good luck.
  14. I would have wished them the best of luck, encouraged them to learn all they can about their job, have fun, come see us when you can, have fun here if you like, please don't share negative crap about that DZ while here and vice versa. Wait... I have done that. We have two DZs on our airport and here's my rules: http://www.tulsatandems.com/DZ%20Rules.htm "Competition is good, it keeps us efficient."
  15. This is really kind of a moot point since it's not the USPA who governs riggers, but the FAA.
  16. So you want folks to split $68,000 8 ways?
  17. FliteSuit specializes in an RW suit that has a ZP wing that can be tailored in size to fit the larger jumpers. I needed something that was a "cool" as in temperature on the body for hot 100+ Oklahoma/Texas days in the summer, so I got a supplex torso (polycotton gets sweaty and hot fast) With the RW ZP wing FliteSuit, at 6'6" 240#, I can vary my fall range from 107-130 MPH without swoop cords. By flying in the Mantis position, the tighter I bring my hands in to my chin and the harder I dig my elbows out, the more the wing slows me down. The more I push my hands out (boxmanish) and elbows in, the more relaxed the ZP wing and the faster I can go. I can jump with 5'2" girls that are
  18. I recently switched (friday) to Mozilla and thought it was great. Could get on any site, etc. Last night, I came back to dz.com and thought HH was doing rollbacks cause the same threads kept popping up. So, I checked it against Yahoo. I could log-in but then would get nasty-grams about not being able to recognize my ID, etc. I changed the Mozilla cookie settings for several configurations to see if that was an issue. Finally, I changed to "Allow All" from every site, for everything, at any time. Still had problems. Switched back to IE and dz.com had like 40 new posts, etc. Could get into Yahoo fine. I like the Mozilla environment and am still playing with it in an effort to make it my primary bowser.
  19. A guy should be able to make anything happen with a crescent wrench, a phillips screwdriver, hammer, knife and pliers that he could with a box full of tools. Just the box full of tools makes it faster...
  20. After buying a 2003 Suzuki 1500 Intruder with Vance Pipes, I doubt I'll ever go back to Harleys.
  21. Boy, are you in big trouble when I see you. I'll be the big'un with the cow pie for you and Corona Lite's for me.
  22. The safire1 was definately more swoop friendly. Yes, I meant 1.5 on the "true" size. And actually, its the safire2 that is +7% = safire1 size.
