  1. I'm sure the PLF's learned in jump school saved alot of us from broken bones in the cheapo days. As shown here, No Capewells,so you better learn PLFs. Standups were forbidden.
  2. As a former member of the 82d(Peace Time '56-'58) I was priviledged to take the Normandy Tour in '07 and got familiar with William Tucker. One of his books,D Day: Thirty-Five Days in Normandy is a great read for those interested in the Airborne Invasion of Normandy. Another of our Great Generation" that has slipped the bounds of earth".

  6. Can't believe I've been able to dig up my patch. Can't find the certificate. I was #504 and got it in Greene, N.Y. on the way to Plattsburg. Also got a Marine Patch. Guess they thought I was good enough.
  7. My first Naionals. Only civilian to qualify from the SE Conference. The GK's took all of the other slots as is evident That Ray was overall Champ. Got a lot of "first" at Orange. Jumped into The Inn, saw my first"moon" and alot of other things I can't remember. Did manage to place 8th overall.

  10. I know this thread has been around but I just found this picture taken by Bobby Frierson of me at Wings and Wheels in Santee, S.C. Museum belonged to Dolf Overton, Korean War Ace, and it took some talking for him to let us jump out of it. Anybody out there that use to jump there on the weekends. Free jumps!

  12. To shed more light on the subject. I made my 7th troop jump from a C-130 in '57. First time the Division used them when they went Pentomic.

  19. Anybody out there compete in this meet? Photographer from the Atlanta Journal wanted a shot of somebody exiting the plane. I was the lucky one. He wrote me a month later and sent me some pics saying he had won an award with the pic..Sad to say but two of the guys are deceased.
