And then there's the 'workers must commit to working long hours at high intensity' email that just went out....

    https://www.bbc.com/news/business-63648505

"Elon Musk has told Twitter staff that they must commit to working "long hours at high intensity" or else leave the company, according to reports."

    and "

"This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade," he said.

Workers were told that they needed to click on a link by 17:00 EST on Thursday, if they want to be "part of the new Twitter"."

I used to work for a guy like this - an absolute workaholic. He thought because he had no life and was working 16 hour days then it was normal for everyone else to as well, and would get pissed if I wasn't answering phone calls at 4am. Musk is going to have people leaving Twitter in droves.

I'm surprised there is anyone still there tbh

He's fired most of the top engineers as well as anyone who disagreed with him. It's an object lesson on how NOT to manage people or run a company

  2. Don't forget Ted cruz who basically said its young peoples fault for voting for the things that they want that they get from the democrats.

He's a smart one, Mr Cruz.

Ron and Brent. Mo guns, less law, more narcissistic individualism.

Except they don't believe that. They WANT legislation when they can discriminate against someone with it.

  4. Don't feed the troll folks, as usual, he's either not bright enough to check out his own sources, or just doesn't care that he's lying.

The answer can be found in Jewish eschatology. That is to say, God determined the end at the beginning.

Man cannot solve the problem or change the outcome.

You are kind of right, in that the eventual outcome is predetermined by physics i.e. the death of our star. Even a blind squirrel finds the occasional nut I guess.

Its looking more and more likely that Boris Johnson will be the next PM. Conservative backbenchers have come to realize that his personal leadership. Is what the party needs.

    Sorry jakee.

BBC was just reporting that BJ was among TWO front runners according to backbenchers.

The Italian parliament had a standing ovation now that the UK has outdone Italy. That the UK is now number one in providing humor for the world in difficult times.

Nah he needs 100 votes from mps and I don’t think he’ll get them. If he did, that might be enough of a farce for a few tories to cross the aisle and vote no confidence, triggering a GE

I think she won....I see she is eligible for £115,000 annually for the rest of her life for her 45 days in office.

People keep going on about this but it’s a bit of a nonsense- I think it’s an expenses limit for any duties related to having been prime minister, not a salary.

What would be in the "national interest" right now would be a General Election. If one were called then sure, Boris running as leader would be acceptable. But first an election date would need to be set.

Thats the stuff dreams are made of. Starmer might be somewhat lacking in charisma, but he's got a decent brain and tears the tories a new one every time there is any sort of a debate.

Without your citing the post to which you're responding I can only guess as to its content.  Having said that, given that a very large amount of the interaction here is one variation of ad hominem or another, where do you draw the line?

It's not entirely clear which rules and guidelines are still in play. Trolling is clearly not prohibited any more, although I had noticed the most recent overt troll seems to have disappeared in the last few days, so maybe there are SOME limits.

Best bit of today, Boris reportedly believes it is “in the national interest” for him to stand in the leadership fight again. Boris, who is still facing an enquiry over whether he lied to Parliament in Parliament (he did), which is a mandatory resignation offence for a PM. Amazeballs.

Apparently there is more than one tory MP saying that if that happened, they would defect immediately to Labour.

Agreed, I was thinking more of our new addition, not our long time resident troll.

Neither of them add any value whatsoever to the conversation. Maybe they add value to the Ad take - that’s the only reason I can think of for why they are still here.

Although some people in Labour are now getting worried that by the time the Tories hand over power, the economy would have been trashed so much that they'll get blamed for it.

That would happen even if they handed over power tomorrow. But like biden, if they keep working and improving things it gets harder and harder for the right to maintain that narrative
