  1. Public transport in Oz is generally pretty good - Sydney is really good and outside Sydney there tend to be regular trains and buses. There are a few DZ's around Sydney, I liked Hunter Valley Skydive (See www.tandemskydive.com) but then I'm biased because I did my AFF there! They have a good turbine though and the Hunter Valley is one of the big wine regions so you could combine two pastimes!
Have a great time - extremely jealous this end!

  2. Hi all, I haven't been around for ages but have finally managed to do what I have been attempting for months due to the best winter weekend I could possibly have asked for:
    1st jump for 18 months,
    1st jump in england,
1st jump at a new DZ.
1st jumps out of two new different types of plane.
Might as well take out a loan for the beer I owe!
Its nice to be back in reach of a keyboard again.

  3. Yeah I had a real urge to go buy a supra with added nitrous after seeing that - the drive back from the cinema got a bit scary as well - everyone wanted to race all of a sudden! lol
Vin diesel = Hard bastard (See pitch black as well)

  4. Oh no - now I'm in love with 8 women - good spot on that site!
Have to say I think the base jumper is the best looking out of the lot of them though!! Think I need to go and have a bit of a lie down....

  5. Not even close to Ohio - the Atlantic is kind of in the way! I'm moving from Reading near London down to Bristol. Sometimes wish I did still live in the states though - am thinking of taking a holiday while I am "in between jobs" At the moment my options are Florida, California or Empuriabrava, with the latter being the favourite due to flight costs!

  6. ....Now stands at three and a half days - finishing my job and have nothing else to go to on friday. So why am I happy? I wont be driving this desk any more and I'm moving to a much nicer part of the country, surf and scenery in abundance - and the clincher? The nearest dropzone is only about 20 minutes away as opposed to an hour and a half!!!! :)Now all I have to do is find a job which pays me more money to do less work for less time - preferably outside! (any ideas - it shouldn't be too hard!?)

  7. I'm also new to the sport, but the way I understand it is this - New people are given big canopies because they generally don't do anything fast - a line twist such as you and I have experienced will generally be fairly easy to kick out of. Now imagine the experienced jumper under a heavily loaded small canopy - a small line twist causes the shape of the canopy to change which will then worsen the problem as those things respond so fast, and before you know it the canopy has twisted so fast as to have spun the lines into a rope all the way up - time to cutaway as you'll be moving pretty fast and have no chance of kicking out. If the same happens on the reserve, well..........
Obviously I don't understand that much so to all the far more experienced jumpers, if I'm wrong please put me right!

    - you can do it just like riding a bike

but you haven't seen me ride a bike!!
Remi - yeah I know - the bbc weather forecast depresses me daily! I tried to jump once before at hinton and was on next load ........ went to a weather hold for the rest of the day!
    Fingers crossed though.....

  11. Haven't jumped for a year and am finally taking the plunge on Thursday at Hinton (weather permitting!) Have to admit I am absolutely s@!t scared but still itching to go and have finally managed to take some time off to do it properly ie. do my recurrency jump and then a couple more solos....
No real purpose to this post, just wish me luck (and good weather!)

  12. Yeah well your pictures say it all! Mind you - "loop dive" puts all sorts of mental images in if the gf did take up skydiving - nudie dives could take on a whole new meaning!! (Did I really say that out loud? :$) - you can tell I'm at work - imagination is running wild!

  13. Hmm - might work although I have a similar problem (Gift maybe?!) to you - I tend to fall like an anvil although I don't think I'm quite up to your standard of doing a loop dive by myself!
I'll keep working on the gf though....(always a pleasure - never a chore!)

  14. Nice one! - how did you persuade her to do it, my gf is scared of heights - in that she gets scared standing on a chair and I can't seem to convince her that it won't be that bad!
On the negative side you'll now have to share all your jump money!!
