  6. The congressman in my district has a link on his homepage to a "help with government agencies" site. Here is his link: http://campbell.house.gov/html/assistance.cfm

    You have to fill out a form and he will do an inquiry on your behalf. I imagine others in congress etc have similiar setups. Here is a link to the US House of Rep. http://www.house.gov/ On the top left corner of the page is a search by zip feature to find out who your local Congressman is in case you're fucking lazy and don't vote or pay attention to anything...

    I will be drafting a letter to Mr. Campbell tomorrow asking him to comment on BASE in Zion and other parks in the NPS system.

  9. I'd be more worried about the fence than the slightly underhung nature of it...it presents the larger obstacle.

    I'll be home in a week...lets do it. I'll have a vented Rockdragon, a 46" Toxic PC, and either my velcro rig or pin rig...

    Velcro is not black death off low objects when configured properly. You just have to prime it and use blanking strips. Similiar to using spectra or Cypres line loops and priming your pins.

  18. I have been inquiring about some new E's on what should be legally jumpable grounds. Contacted some very experienced trekkers and climbers, thinking they would know the topography of the area best...and could possibly guide me to some areas for further research.(any vertical walls over 200') When I was asked what I was up to, I responded honestly, "searching out new sites to BASE jump". This was just a response that I got.

  20. Your slip knot with loops on both ends would mean your runner is made of a single length of material.

    Tom's sewn and larksheaded runner or my Dacron loop would have two lengths of material, or double the strength (minus the degradation of the knot). Same principle as what is going on with the break tape. I like the black Dacron, because if it gets left behind a little black string loop at a construction site is pretty non-alarming.

  22. I like the way it is now. Put a post where you are going...either a local contacts you, or someone who knows you reads your post and puts you in touch with a local.

    Sometimes people from two or three different crews respond...great to get all sides of the perspective.

    Sometimes people warn you who to stay the fuck away from:| I have received more than one warning from locals on who NOT to jump with - it's a nice system of checks and balances that would not function the same.

    The way it is right now seems to work very well...

    First off, Apparently you missed this quote both by the original poster as well as the paragraph in the article. There was a direct reference to the NPS.

    Secondly, laws like the NPS Illegal Aerial Delivery were never conceived to stifle BASE...but they have been successfully applied by the NPS with validation from the courts. So it is not a far stretch of the imigination that these "no cliff jumping" laws could be successfully implemented in the prosecution of BASE jumpers in regard to other E's in these areas.

    Awesome, additional patrols in areas just to catch cliff jumpers. Like I said, if there is one uninvestigated claim of child abuse or child neglect within 1000 miles of those additional patrols than someones priorities are wacked.

    Sweet...court, fines, somewhere else in the article it says "unspecified prison time" So if you don't take their deal they can hang fed. pen time over your head. And hefty fines...LE agencies generally get a percentage of fines...so it will actually be beneficial for them to enforce this law...then again, no one makes any money going after child abusers...

    What it means is somewhere in the US there is a child being abused or starving but we have NPS Rangers enforcing illegal aerial delivery laws and reigning in on "rowdy" rope jumping activites.

    Nothing like creating criminals out of those perpetrating victimless acts...
