  1. Am having a fair bit of trouble flying the transition to terminal (vertical) from the slide. I can exit all right, head down or sit, and fly the hill (not too bad but not great), but I seem to get a little unstable at the transition from the slide to regular vertical flight... Any advice would be appreciated...
  2. Not common at all. I left mine packed for 6 weeks and had an opening that I would classify as smooth sailing.
  3. We'll have to make it the 6th, im at a conference till the 5th. I appreciate you being my personal chauffer on this little trip of ours. Dont forget the play station you son of a bitch. CHEERS and BEERS
  4. I live in edmonton and am taking an FJC in May. Was wondering if there is anyone near by that might be able to give advice about packing etc. P.M. me. P.S. There's beer in it for ya. thats right, a bribe. Lets call it what it is. CHEERS and BEERS
  5. Hey label; It was Coxy who put that idea in your head, wasn't it? CHEERS Dude. Call me when you get down.
  6. perfect. That helps alot. thanx for the reply CHEERS and BEERS
  7. Ace and Blackjack: same canopy less the PAC valves. Do the PAC valves affect, in any significant way, the pack volume of the blackjack. i.e. are ace's and blackjack's of the same size interchangeable for a rig built for one or other. CHEERS and BEERS
  8. Just curious about haveing my Alti in the non-pressurized cargo section of a commercial flight. Considering a crusing altitude of 38000 ft, would this at all affect the aneroid or is it built to withstand this type of high altitude? CHEERS and BEERS

  10. didnt see that forum. If a moderator could move it, im not sure how to do that my self or even if I can.
  11. What is the the better camcorder (or are they equally as good) the sony PC-109 or the HC-32. I have found the PC-109 to be essentially ubiquitous and have not heard much about the HC-32 (my interest peaks in the HC-32 as it is a little cheaper). Is there some difference in skydiving functionality or has the 109 simply been around longer?
  12. Attached is a picture of my upper control line at the cascade; Just wondering if this is jumpabale or would you recommend replacement.
  13. I have seen video of this manuever on skydivingmovies.com. Just type in barrell roll and watch the vid. its pretty sweet. The barrel rolls are called "Low altitude barrel rolls under canopy by Will Packard"
  14. No plans to downsize yet. I was just wondering what the consensus was on rear riser landings. Thanx for the input towerrat.
  15. I have really got to proof read these posts, though I'm sure you know what i mean. LOL
  16. I have done rear riser landings on the cat I have jumped (manta, sabre 190) though they were all quite lightly loaded. i was just wondering if rear riser landings are possible/recommended for more heavily loaded caopies. thanx in advance for the input
  17. I have been in the sport for four years and live in canada, therefore there is a mandatory 8.5 month lay off every year (minimum). Despite this I come back every year with an increased gratitude to be back in the sky. You say that you are having the "out of sight out of mind syndrome"; what I would recommend that you do is sign on to skydivingmovies.com. That always reminds me how much skydiving really means to me and fortifies my need to get back in the sky. CHEERS. Hope to see you out there someday...
  18. It seems odd to me that there are so many people talking about how alot of jumpers don't know how to pack. I have not done any skydiving travelling, thus I only have been to my home DZ, where all the upjumpers know how to pack so that they can help pay for thier jumps by packing first timers gear. So when I first got into skydiving I just thought that it was mandatory to learn to pack; it seems like that would be the first step previous to one obtaining their own gear. Hrmmm.....
  19. I am in my fourth year of an honours chemistry degree and this was my 3rd year skydiving. I am from winnipeg canada and like to get crazy in the sky (safety permitting) and love to party on the ground. I hope to see you in the sky some day; as I love jumping with new people. Talk to you later. CHEERS
  20. As far as I'm concerned skydiving brings you closer to that supreme being; It lets you float with the clouds and kiss the sky, what could be more heavenly than that. As Andrewwhyte said " You just need new friends. We'll be your friends." What you need is to talk to like-minded people that understand your new passion; welcome to the skydiving community.
  21. Though I am not highly experianced I would recommend that you check out.... http://performancedesigns.com/docs/choosing1.pdf http://performancedesigns.com/docs/choosing2.pdf these are articles from the education center from the performance designs web site and could be most helpful. These articles give you a good description of all the terminology involved when deciding to select a new canopy for your self. They also address the issue of wieght:square foot ratio, as well as how high performance caopies fit into this. I hope that these sites help you with your canopy selection. CHEERS
