  1. Wait, so what are you saying here, Bill? That seat-belts are useless? They provide NO added safety benefits so therefore we need to eliminate all seat-belts from vehicles? That would for sure help the bottom line of the struggling car manufacturers. Yes! Let's eliminate seat-belts. they provide no benefit (apparently) and are such a pain to use.
  2. That's interesting. What were Model 3 registrations? Oh wait, here it is: "Model 3 registrations in that state doubled last quarter." Then the author tries to spin that into a negative. Nothing to see here folks. It is just another way to try and incentivize the higher priced vehicles. In the real world, it doesn't cost Tesla that much to offer free supercharging because most people who buy an new S or X will also put in home chargers.
  3. https://www.insidehook.com/daily_brief/vehicles/jay-leno-gas-cars-versus-electric-vehicles If a Tesla can convince a historically gear-headed/gas person like Jay Leno, the rest of the auto industry better be very scared. All it takes is actually driving & living with an electric car to change people's minds. Oh, and I just received an update to my car last night to improve functionality. Show of hands who also had their car updated (for free) in the past month. No reason, indeed.
  4. It probably would if the US tax credit was equivalently $30,000 like in HK. But the current tax credit is $1875 so it probably wont make a significant difference when it finally fades away. Not saying it won't make any difference. But look at the sales in the rest of the world without an incentive. Tesla is doing just fine there.
  5. Oh, BTW, did anyone notice this rather small award? https://www.motortrend.com/news/2013-tesla-model-s-beats-chevy-toyota-cadillac-ultimate-car-of-the-year/
  6. Not to get this thread off the rails, but I believe the quote is actually "What we've got here is failure to communicate."
  7. That is what I'm curious on. Would be interesting to see what type of boost the new Raven models had on the S & X individually. I would guess not much on the X. But the improved performance and free Ludicrous had to help out the S.
  8. I'd like to see the actual numbers per model. I of course helped out the record numbers by taking delivery of my Model S last quarter. It is such an amazing car. Owning it less than a month and due to over-the-air updates it drives (literally when it drives itself) better than when I first bought it.
  9. Which is why we need to cut more spending. Need to eliminate regulatory commissions. Freeze spending on NASA, who needs space travel anyway when we has such problems at home. And besides look at SpaceX - the private sector does it much better anyway. Get rid of the ATF. When was the last time you heard anything good come from the CDC? Gone! FDA doesn't do anything - eliminate them too. EPA? Without their meddling we would have much more big beautiful waters and clean air. Stop wasting all that money on SNAP type programs. Get rid of Medicare and Medicaid. If you can't afford to pay our own way at a hospital or get drugs (which are now going to be much cheaper since we eliminated the FDA), then just die already. You are no good to society anyway. But whatever you do, don't ever touch my taxes or eliminate my subsidies for electric vehicles and solar panels.
  10. Norway isn't doing well because they are a socialist country. Norway is doing well because they have a King. Look at England. They are doing pretty well too and they have a Monarchy. That must be the problem with the US. We need to have a Royal Family!
  11. Two things I wanted to clarify. 1) If you go back and reread my original post, I never said that I interpreted what your position was. I did not mention anything about your position on this matter. I said (for that post) that 'I' believe that if first responders cannot afford healthcare/food/etc. due to injury or whatever, fuck them. The government should not step in and help. I did not say you believed that, I did (for that post). 2) It is probably the same reason when you have to ask yourself why countries like the USA are moving towards socialism every day. My guess is that most intelligent people (Bigun yourself included) understand that neither system to the extreme is the correct solution. The best situation is to have a balance between capitalism and socialism.
  12. I completely agree. Healthcare for first responders is such a socialist idea. If those people can't afford healthcare in the private sector, fuck them! Let them die. We don't need any socialist ideas and/or programs given to them by the government.
  13. Wonder how the secret service will handle this one. Trump will still get SS protection for life.Would be funny seeing Trump protected by the SS when he is exercising in the "yard".
  14. As you like to say in other posts you have made, "Did you even read the article you posted?". If so, please cut-and-paste the text from the LAtimes that compares Tesla sales directly against Mercedes Benz.
  15. I know this has been mentioned before, but I'll beat that dead horse again - just to make sure it is still dead. But if fossil fuels are so economically viable why do states and the federal government subsidize them to the tune of $20.5 billion annually (as reported by OCI)? I know this is a rhetorical question. We all know the answer to that - lobbyists/ bribes/ corruption. We should first eliminate the subsidy to oil/gas/coal first. Then maybe in 30-40 years we can eliminate it for renewables.
  16. I never thought that there would be any real, concrete, and open collusion between DJT and Russia. He would have to be monumentally stupid in order for that to happen. And I think Cohen verified that (at least from his [Cohen] standpoint). I think that Cohen did give testimony that there was open collusion between Trump's kids and Russia. But the biggest thing that Cohen did give is campaign finance violations of Trump. And those are real crimes. Are they enough to take down a president, aka Al Capone style - I don't know. This all confirms to me that we are again living in exciting times. We are seeing the start of the end of the US as a superpower. I had always wondered what it was like to be alive during the fall of the roman empire or greek etc. If we as a country continue down this path of partisan politics at the demise of the country, we will implode into nothingness.
  17. That is simply not true. The earth has had volcanoes which spew out tons of CO2 every year. This has happened for millions of years. Imagine that. Even before humans were around. If mankind stops its CO2 emissions, the earth will just compensate probably by creating more volcanoes. Man has NOTHING to do with climate change/global warming etc. It is all natural and there is nothing that man can possibly do to affect the world environment as a whole. Have you even seen how big the earth is? We are so insignificant in comparison to such a bigly place. Huge place. With big water - ocean water.
  18. No, no, no. We need to build a moat around Florida. That will for sure keep them out.
  19. Trump needs to follow through on his campaign promise and make Mexico pay for the wall. I suppose he asked Mexico and they laughed in his face as they said, "No". So now Trump needs to stop being a pussy! He is commander and chief. If Mexico won't pay for the wall, use his position as commander and chief and send the military into Mexico and take the money.
  20. However, these are not normal times: Donald Trump Is Proving Too Stupid to Be President http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4810077;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Jerry Baumchen It should be pretty easy to primary president Pence.
  21. I'm a USPA member and am all for the Museum. But mostly because: So, it is not a case of NIMBY, but YPIMBY (Yes, Please In My Back Yard). Fund away and get this built now!
  22. Here, let me help rush out. Example #1: Trump has said, "...there's never been a President as tough on Russia as I have been." Believe me. This is true. I wish I could tell you the details about all the wonderful things he has done. But these things cannot be disclosed due to national security. Example #2: Trump, in his infinite wisdom, has out maneuvered Putin and got Putin to admit that they did not interfere with our election. No other president in history has even questioned a Russian about interference in our electoral process. Just asking the question shows great strength to the rest of the world. Example #3: Do you think Hillary would be standing up to Putin like Trump is? Oh and BTW, how great is it that Trump won Minnesota. No other Republican president since Reagan has won Minnesota. Benghazi!
  23. … rational. ... unable to be manipulated easily.
  24. There has been a lot of good advice in this thread, so I'll add my own. I concur with the idea of getting a tent you can stand up in. Make sure you have a full rain fly. My preference is 4 person. I would highly recommend an enclosed Vestibule that is separate from the "main" living area. I use this area for food storage. That way if bugs figure out how to get into your food, you don't have bugs in your main tent. My tent is several years old so it is obsolete. But I've had good luck with Kelty tents. Something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Kelty-Frontier-4-Person-Canvas-Tent/dp/B005W1FXX6/ref=sr_1_65?ie=UTF8&qid=1525192972&sr=8-65&keywords=kelty+tents
  25. Actually I think it was important to them at THAT time. It has become less important in today's age. As proof, I submit to you that no one has taken up arms against the federal government en mass recently. You see the occasional "lone wolf" crazy person out there. But that has no real chance of replacing our government or enacting change. Under what scenario do you see civilians taking over and killing our leaders in DC (or any state for that matter) to prevent government overreach? I say that will never happen again in the US.
