Any attic (or other dead space, including the crawlspace if any - ) needs ventilation, a passage for fresh air to get in and out. In most homes, this will be in the eaves and out at or near the peak of the roof. (heat rises) This creates a natural circulation. What often happens, is folks add insulation and choke off the vents in the eaves. I've lived in the north most all my life, so we primarily focus on heating. Easy Does It
