    WTF

I didn't really have any friends to start with, but my Family leans on this statement sometimes. Especially for weekend get aways which I respectfully decline now. They get over it soon enough and accept it as part of you. I still make an effort to surprise them sometimes and show up when they least expect it. Maybe spend some time with your "old gang" this weekend....since it's raining anyway
  2. Me and skycat did this once. Take a protrack and plan half the skydive to go as slow as you possibly can. Then half way through, key it to go as fast as you possibly can. We flew accross from each other and geeked just to add some sillyness to the jump. It was fun to get down and check the protrack to see what the speed difference was.
  3. Although far from the expert, I can see where pulling together in a formation, for example: a 6 way round, would allow each jumper to resume a better arch position with elbows back and less tension on the grips. A round with lots of tension gives me a mental picture of a formation that would tend to beg you to "fly flat" instead of with a naturally good arch. On formation such as compressed, my dropzone teaches to take low leg grips ("let's build these compressed's deep...") and make the formation wide to maintain a good fallrate. Although you would have a mental picture of a flat body position, the extra air you can allow between bodies will help it fall. As for using a 'back to earth' position to get back up if you go low,- Formation Skydivers usually like everyone flying belly to earth on the skydive, unless it's planned in advance, such as a hybrid or a cameraman's angle. We usually don't PLAN to go low. I would use traditional methods of recovery. I think you'll find the traditional methods the absolute best for slowing down when done properly.
  4. Whoooo, Karma. My Birthday is October 2nd. Looks like Im in for sure. It's ment to be - My FIRST hybrid? I'll need some tips from the experts at the Spacy Place. - or some practice?
  5. Cool. I should really get out to Skydive Houston more often. Is Thomas still insane? Jumped with some of those guys at Ballunar and forget how crazy they can be. -Funny, didn't know they used to call SUSA the "Porn Drop Zone" , I got this real feeling of pride when I heard that. Hope to see ya soon.
  6. Ground School for AFF, Instructor is teaching us the principles of arching. "If you were on a 20 story building and jumped, you would fall to your death. Now, if you were on a 20 story building, jumped and then Arched, you would Skydive to your death. Got it?"
  7. At my Dz, the saying goes "Put a little altitude in your pocket" , in other words, stop above and out , then match the fallrate, then dock. On breaks, pop up just slightly in between points. You can always adjust down more than up. Also, experience will tell your brain "this formation is going to float so be ready" by looking at the jumpers size, the ability for air to flow between the grips etc. Just anticipate.
  8. This last weekend at Couchfreaks we jumped with a Skychick with 37 jumps. She was soooo appreciative and kept thanking us over and over and over again--, like it was the most amazing thing that we were jumping with her and kept inviting her on our Skydives. I finally told her , that I was skydiving too and it's wasn't like a favor or anything, just a skydive. Its amazing and a cool feeling how much people appreciate being invited if they have low jump numbers, and it's such a simple thing , to me. Good debriefs are the real key and actually the thing that they look most forward to. They love it and appreciate it. Hoping I can jump with Insanedaddy this weekend or next.

  11. Hey, I was on that skydive but didn't make it into the photo. Whaaa. Im in the photo of the "22 way exit at Spaceland" though. Bottom on the right with the hot pink grippers. You rock Josh.
  12. I was actually a pretty good girl this year. I don't THINK anyone got me naked on video...but I can't be sure.
  13. Since I have not the slightest clue, I guess my Hometown. Houston.
  14. Good Point. There is an option to "not display the profile pic" . Problem Solved.
  15. Can't find my picture on this forum? I've never heard that before. Check Mug Shots. Tell Perry I was the Ground Crew Coordinator for the Texas Record whose heart stopped beating for 20 minutes when I had one jumper not accounted for (while he was chain sawing his main out of the swamp) that almost kissed him when he showed back up. I had the Dr. Seuss hat on. See ya next week, Im off to Couch.
  16. She looks like a Naked Barbie Doll. As far as the appropriateness, not my place. That's a Moderators call. I don't know nothin, I just play here.
  17. Good Luck to Everyone. After reading this thread, I kinda wish I had team names so I could be watching you glued to Omniskore. Maybe HH could feature the link and the "DZ.Com Teams to watch" info on the home page for us next week.
  18. Those look to me like Freefly Videos. I don't have any on that Page. I have all of Norman Kent cept one, Good Stuff, Crosswind and a few Boogie Videos.
  19. There are tons and tons of threads on this subject. Try a search. To date, most medical policies don't excluded sport injuries, but they are sure pushing for it. It's more Life Insurance that's notorious for excluding Scuba, Skin and Sky Diving.
  20. So, I see, you ditching me for a girl you MIGHT get lucky with! Fine. She probably doesnt even jump J/K , I'll be thinking of you.......yeah......right.....
  21. Rock On, Good Luck and Have Fun. Tell Us How You Dooooo Im too young to play yet.
  22. Im comfy on commercial flights, they don't bump around near as much as Otters. I like looking out and spotting traffic. I don't see a way to get out safely in the event of an emergency anyway.
