  1. lol we're part of the Abhram group too! Hotel cost is outrageous... we're planning to sandwich 3 days in Moscow during the trip - any ideas of places to stay near Red Square for ~$50 / night per person?
  2. Myself and a bunch of friends are heading out to Russia this weekend for a 2 week skydiving trip. We're staying at Aerograd Kolomna and wanted views, opinions and advise for our escapades.... Russian phrases, things to do; things not to do and suggestions for places to stay in Moscow city centre most welcome. Let the banter commence ...
  3. Contact Dave Ruffell @ Sunshine Factory www.sunshine-factory.com Customer service is awesome!
  4. I've taken my rig as hand luggage on a few ocassions to Empuria. My rig weighs 9kg (Ryanair limit = 10kg). Pack the CAA info for your AAD and take along an x-ray card in case the monkeys don't understand what it is! It's worth keeping your FAI & BPA with you too so that you're not mistaken for something else CAA: http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/830/dgo_passengerfaqs.pdf X-RAY CARD: http://www.vigil.aero/pdf/1997.pdf Also remember to leave your hook-knife in your checked-in baggage and place your rig on a tray before sending through the x-ray machine. Have a brilliant trip!
  5. micron22 with orange harness a friend just got a baby blue split colour thing and it looks more grey-green than blue so stay away! here's what i just collected last week
  6. A couple of us are heading out on Sun 25th June on flight FR2132 from Stansted to Grenoble, coming back Sunday 2nd July on FR2133. Anyone keen to share a hire car to Gap and accommodation for the week? PM me. Cheers! H
  7. Even though I would prefer a water-resistant unit I am open to suggestions. Any of you dealers in the states got them in stock? Payment waiting if delivery guaranteed to FL by Fri/Sat. Thanks.
  8. I'm not a Nigerain scam artist... honest Collecting my new kit from Sunshine Factory this w/end - the unit intended for my rig has been sent back for debugging and my dealer has been unable to source another unit in time for my trip.
  9. I need an Argus AAD in Florida by THIS SATURDAY (10 June). Has anybody got a unit (or two) unaffected by the product recall? Thanks in advance.
  10. Skydive Jersey have a great deal for a complete Aerodyne Icon/Pilot/Smart set-up including Vigil AAD for £2,700 AND you get the benefit of a system sized & coloured to your exacting wishes. http://www.skydivejersey.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=29&osCsid=4eec5f83bf59b0fcfec6eb8e14764983
  11. Email: [email protected] Website: http://www.freejive.com Thoroughly recommend WingTips btw - learnt a lot from it!
  12. Sunday 11th June, heading back Monday 12th June PM... YES! Planning 15mins tunnel on Sat 10th June in the evening (if there are any slots left!).....
  13. Any suggestions for getting from International Drive to Z-Hills on a Sunday morning and back the next evening? - Is hire car the only option? Thanks.
  14. I use Harrison Beaumont (http://www.hbinsurance.co.uk). They charge 5% of equipment value and cover claims for theft from DZ, in-use incidents etc. Haven't had to claim so not sure how efficient their process is... I did try Norwich Union, Halifax, Post Office & Endsleigh through home contents cover but neither of these firms would offer coverage for 'air-sports' equipment. Hope this helps!
  15. it's usually what I "do-n-say" when trying new tricks on my snowboard ;)
  16. My first canopy was a Sabre2 170 (from new) and the openings were lovely! Nice and soft and mostly on heading (I learned to pack on this canopy too!). Subsequently, I've done 15-20 demo jumps on a Sabre2 135 and a few of the openings have been harsh. I've also demo'd the Safire2 149 & 139 and found their openings to be far more controlled, consistent and easier on the body... I love the way the Sabre2 flies, lands and has greater toggle pressure in comparison to the Safire2. However as I tend to jump lots in a short space of time I've put my order in for a Safire2 simply as the Sabre2 135 left me feeling sore after 2 full days of jumping. Hope my experiences help
  17. Agreed. There is no substitute for proven technology in the field. However, my point is in 15 years materials, processes and analytical tools have shifted leaps and bounds....
  18. In the process of putting new kit together and wondering what the differences (if any) there were between the PD-R143 & Smart 135. I remember a coach back in Z-Hills telling me never to buy anything other than PD for my reserves, but that was largely unquantified. I like PD for their reputation, however I am leaning toward Aerodyne as the product is newer (and hence should be more technologically advanced). What are your experiences of either - good, bad or ugly? No marketing people pls lol.... Thanks in advance!
  19. Got this a while back from Headcorn DZ. Hope it helps! Not sure who the original author/producer is but all credits to them www.brunelskydiving.com/h_private/2ways (FS TRAINING).pdf H www.brunelskydiving.com
  20. Over 2 days it will be a nightmare to have them all rigged & unrigged. It's my plan to demo one canopy on the Saturday and another on the Sunday. Also (my opinion) it's far easier to make an educated judgement on 2 choices rather than bringing a third into the equation....
  21. About to demo some canopies and ideally only want 2 to compare..... Have had 110 rides on a Sabre2 170 from new and now considering either: PD Sabre2 150 Icarus Safire2 149 Aerodyne Pilot 150 PD Stilleto 150 (maybe) Is it really worth demo-ing a Sabre2 150 or do you think the Pilot & Safire2 will provide a good comparison to my existing Sabre2 170? (Note: Planning for 5-8 demo jumps on each canopy) All suggestions/opinions welcome!
  22. The container was bought new by myself as a complete rig direct from the Wings factory for my measurements with a SABRE2 170 / PDR160 combination. My rigger, who I trust entirely has followed the Wings-prescribed packing method, yet this has not solved the reserve flap opening during head-up freefly. During a recent visit to Skydive Spain I met a fellow Wings owner with an identical problem. A freefly coach out there told us he had also seen this issue with Wings containers many times before. In the meantime, Ankie & Sunrise Manufacturing (Wings) will be taking a look at, and hopefully rectifying any potential faults surrounding the reserve flap. I'll keep everyone posted with the outcome. Much appreciated for all the opinions!
  23. Agreed - I definitely would never make any mods myself... Regarding the reserve bulk, 2 different riggers have done the last 2 re-packs, each being notified of this problem and neither being able to solve it by adjusting bulk. Back to the size of the rig, I think that could be a poor photo coupled with loose straps (it was taken from my 1st free-fly coached jump). This may be a better pic to judge the size: http://www.skydiving.co.uk/Gallery/Weekends/12112005/Picture19.jpg Surely a 170 sized rig is going to be large anyway??? Thanks for all the help guys - keep it coming!
