  1. I've had the occasional growing pains with DirecTV but overall I've had a good experience with them over the last 3 years... and they do have one of the largest selections of HD program availability on the market and it is very good... Their DVR could use a little tweaking to make it better then it is... (such as dual live buffers) but I have generally had good experiences with them. I am kind of a do it yourselfer and did learn how to align the satellite dish myself... which really wasn't as hard as they'd like us to believe it is... Thanks for the feedback. The only thing that may prevent me is my home owners association. I don't know what their rules are for hanging dishes. Not all of the units have a balcony. I happen to be one of the few that do. If they allow it, I may use DirecTV for the bedroom. The Original Cabana Boy!
  2. Hmmmm....I may have to look into that. The Original Cabana Boy!
  3. I have Comcast. I've never used DirecTV. I was looking into Verizon FiOS. Seems to be getting a lot of good feedback. The Original Cabana Boy!
  4. I've had mine for a little over a year now. No problems yet. Do you have a big lag time when switching between HD and non-HD channels w/ a DLP TV? I know I get about a 10-15 second delay when going between the two. The Original Cabana Boy!
  5. I wonder if the Guinness that's sent to the U.S. is the same exact beer that the locals drink in Ireland? I've seen other imports that are not to the same specs as the original.. And I love me some Guinness!! It really is food I can verify the difference from drinking imported Guiness as apposed to drinking it locally. I had a day layover in Shannon Ireland during my first deployment to Saudi Arabia. Our top 3 bought a keg of Guiness for all of us while we were waiting for our flight. The head on that beer was thick enough to suspend a penny (if gently placed). Needless to say the flight from Ireland to Italy was one filled w/ the smell of busted ass. Imagine 240 GIs rippin Guiness ass for five hours in an enclosed environment. The plane smelled like a sack full of assholes!!! The Original Cabana Boy!
  6. That's what I use, my PS3. It works juuuuust fine, AND, it's a Playstation. Sony's best invention yet. Just got finished playing Army of Two. That's it...I'm going to get a PS3 this weekend!!!!! The Original Cabana Boy!
  7. Have you tried Costco? We were talking 70" LCD's but I do see they have a 73" DLP for 3,800. Back to a foot and a half deep, plus cabling n other crap. I'd have to research deeper though, as that site doesn't list contrast ratio. And Blu-Ray is a must. Absolutely! I bought the Planet Earth Series on Blu Ray (yes I'm a Discovery Channel nerd ) and the picture quality is freaking ridiculous! The Original Cabana Boy!
  8. Problem solved! Awesome! The Original Cabana Boy!
  9. Damn firewall. I can't open the site while I'm at work. The Original Cabana Boy!
  10. but have you figured out how to get the beer/snacks to you without leaving your comfy spot? I'm still working on that one! The Original Cabana Boy!
  11. Yea, those 70 inchers are tempting, but that's certainly out of my price range. You and me both! I wish I had $30K to spend on a TV. The Original Cabana Boy!
  12. My suggestion, if you are going to 1080p..go w/ an LCD TV. They are a bit more expensive but the quality of the picture is unmatched. You can get a 70" LCD but I think the cheapest one is $32K. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8400624&type=product&id=1179877503499 You can get LCD TVs between 50-60" for $3-$4K. 13. Do you have a newer gen 360 with the HDMI out, or an older one with the standard composite? Makes a big difference. There are still a few HD DVD movies out there you can pick up for cheap, and the HD DVD player for the 360 is super cheap. No man cave is complete without some great, but outdated, electronics! No, I have the old gen 360. I didn't know whether I should go PS3 or new gen 360. I've never played the PS3 but I hear the graphics on blue ray are sick. Dude, you have a shrine! Get both! I like the way you think! The Original Cabana Boy!

  15. No, a serious man cave calls for equipment that would not mesh well with a traditional feminine sense of decor and might kill you if it fell over. Perhaps a 220 pound CRT projector which resolves 1920x1080p suspended over the couch with unistrut and 3/8" all-thread. Perhaps 46x13x16" actively tri-amplified main speakers designed for a clean 105 dB SPL. Perhaps a half dozen power amplifers that together weigh as much as you do, with pieces of scrap wood providing clearance for the heat sink vents. I only had 3 cubic feet with a 14.5" driver for sub-bass but it was a start. Some of that equipment would be built with your power tools and soldering iron. Some would need your Super Sawzall to install. It would be a work in progress like your classic car. Working well enough to drive, but with missing paint and exposed wiring in places. That's a man cave. A 50" flat screen hanging demurely on the wall is something you put in the bedroom, opposite your canopy bed with 12 pillows, comforter, and bed spread. Something that you install in an afternoon using only your wife's tools and her help lifting. Having become domesticated, I speak from experience here. Definitely don't have that kind of room in my condo. It all sounds sort of sexy to me. I don't know why it's just for guys and stuff. [pouts] Congrats my favorite original cabana boy. You deserve it handsome. Big smoochies my friend. Thanks love! You will have to come see it for yourself. The Original Cabana Boy!
  16. The total was $9,184.53 Includes - TV, Sound System, Blue Ray Player, Power Station, 3 sets of HDMI cables, extended warranty on TV/Sound System, and Delivery (set up was free). It may not be the "MAN CAVE" but I really like it. Actually I'm still sleeping next to it. The Original Cabana Boy!

  18. You're only missing one thing.... You weren't enough man to install it all yourself. Better luck next time ya little oompa loompa. The only reason I used them is because I basically didn't have to pay for it. Since I made such a LARGE purchase, the set up was thrown into the deal. I only had to pay for them to ship it. I will take a free installation any day!!!! The Original Cabana Boy!
  19. I think that would be sensory overload right now. One step at a time man. The Original Cabana Boy!
  20. OMG!!!!! I just put in Saving Private Ryan and I swear to you that I just stormed the beach of Normandy...hahahahaha. Freaking bullets were buzzing all over the place and I even I had to go look in my kitchen because I could have sworn I heard someone calling for help by the trash can. Man, the Bose system is no joke. It up converts all of the 720p DVDs to 1080p. I don't think I need to mention the quality of the surround sound....OF THE HOOK! Every time I look at my man shrine....tears form in my eyes and I want to sing love songs. The Original Cabana Boy!
  21. My HD box was installed by Comcast yesterday. I have an XBox 360 but I was thinking of getting a PS3 since the games are in blue ray. Is it wierd that I've been hugging my TV? The Original Cabana Boy!
  22. The Geek Squad just delivered and installed my brand new Mitsubishi 52'' 1080p LCD TV, Bose V30 Sound System, LG Blue Ray/HD DVD player, and Monster Power Station!!!! Quote from Forrest Gump: "I think I ruined your roommates bath robe." Holy shit, I am never leaving my couch again! The Original Cabana Boy!
  23. Thanks bro! You guys will have to come up to my side of the world some day and visit. The Original Cabana Boy!
  24. Yeah, I was living in fear for six weeks because I just knew that they were going to ask for a body cavity search...LOL! There were a lot of contract issues that the bank had w/ the builder. I guess the verbage they were using didn't comply w/ new underwriting policies. Oh well, at least it's over and I have a shiney new condo all to myself. Thank you for the congrats! The Original Cabana Boy!
