  1. improper packing will definitely ruin your risers but this issue is common with mirage risers. I see this issue all the time with our RTS student rigs. my theory is the keeper(hood) is too tight and too close to the guide ring.

edit: when I repair I do an over-sew with at least 2 stitches off the edge of the keeper

  2. I built a new accuracy rig. It has a 97 Angelfire reserve. and a 270 classic main. I believe its one of the smallest traditional accuracy rigs. the 97 is the smallest reserve I feel comfortable landing. A lot of people ask about the 2 out situation and how I would handle it. I'd rather have this combo over my head than something like a 150 reserve and a 75 crossbrace. At least with mine they are both 7 cell low glide/low aspect ratio f-111 wings.

  3. That rig doesn't have an RSL installed. Like other Manufactures. It's the choice of the user if they would like one or not. I've attached a pick of a racer with an RSL. If you would like more photos of racers with Rsls just ask.:)

  4. Quote

Javelin. Less flaps for the reserve pilot chute to have to clear.

Racer. no flaps for a reserve pilot chute to clearB|
And they weigh less, cost less. function more.
better pin protection with an efficient reserve pilotchute
stronger webbing and more compatible with hardware.
now with magnets and spacer foam backpad.

    Skydivings best kept secret.

  5. awesome!! what a great video! I'm impressed! I'm stoked for people who have the drive to not give a shit and just do what they want. Disabled skydiving is really taking off and I couldn't be happier. I hate to see people get hurt but I love that people are seeing what a great opportunity they have to jump out of planes and have fun.

Susanne I look forward to us jumping together someday

  6. has anyone ever intentionally tried making a bag lock malfunction? Its harder than you think. When we were doing some parachute testing for a reserve system we tried to simulate a 'natural bag lock' but couldn't recreate one. To satisfy the requirement we took cord and tied the grommets for the locking stows to the band holders. That did the trick

  7. Hard Links pros
    Easier and faster to install
    Snag resistant
    near infinite lifetime
    almost idiot proof

    Soft Link Facts
Cheaper for the manufacture to make
    Have limited jump life
Caused fatalities that would not have been caused by rapide links

    Soft Link Selling points
    Lower bulk

Pro soft link quotes that make me want to stab my ears out

"they're stronger" ...who cares? hard links are way stronger than they need to be.

"easier and faster to install" - you're high! Lets race!

    EDIT: I use soft links:|

  8. after seeing so much black hardware lately I saw a slick new infinity with stainless steel chest and hip rings.... Kapow! really stood out nicely against the trend of black thats taking over the sport.

  9. is actually harder than it seems.
I just got finished packing my reserve all by myself while sitting in my wheelchair. The hard part was putting it in the freebag. When I do it next time I'm going to try and use a table that I can wheel underneath as to get better leverage. Since I didn't have that kind of table I started laying it down on my bed and clamping it. and then taking the kitchen cutting board on my lap I put it in the bag. and then after stowing it I closed it in my lap. Very awkward but turned out great.

Any other brainstorming ideas to make it more efficient?

  10. katana to a velocity will be an easy transition. start of with a similar sized crossbrace for your first few jumps until your recognize the differences between non xbrace and braced canopies. If what you say about your katana is true it sounds like your more than ready. pull high and notice how much overturn the velocity has and how much more it dives after a turn. Stay safe have fun.

Oh and to edit: If you notice people taking a close look at their palm after asking for advice you shouldn't have asked them
