I was at Six Flags Over Mid America in St. Louis 3 weeks ago and while in line for one of the rides a lady was breast feeding her child. I didn't see it at first, my friends I was with said she was and when i looked her back was to me. I didn't believe them but sure enough she was. With hundreds of people around waiting in line, didn't expect to see that at an amusementpark. Beau

I called the USPA and got these numbers for the end of 2002. The total number of jumps by USPA members since they started jumping was at 26,850,923. The total for the previous year was 2,151,228. Beau

I realize that there are many dz's outside of the US, but what i was needing was a fact. Its for my speech class in college and I'm doing my Informative speech on skydiving. For the opening the teacher wants a fact. I figured that the total number of sport skydives in a year would be a great fact to tell everyone since i'm informing them on our sport and i would like to get someone that has wanted to skydive to go out and actually do it. I didn't mean to offend anyone. Beau

So what's a rough estimate???? 34,000 + USPA members right??? if they each made 100 jumps that would be 3.4 million right but of course some make less some make more and then if you add in all the students jumps, anyone have an educated guess? Beau

Hey everyone, i'm trying find out about the total number of jumps made in a year would be. By total I mean students that make only one jump all the way to licensed skydivers that make hundreds. I can almost swear that this data use to be on the USPA website but i cant find it anymore. It also told things like job professions, age groups, malfunction numbers etc. I can find part of that data on their website still but not the Jump number totals. The number i was thinking was something like 3 million but i'm not sure. Thanks Beau

These are photos of a 50ft X 30ft flag made my Stan Hubbard and Dee Barger that was jumped at a Memorial Day Demo. Its not quite finished yet but they have both spent over 60hrs working on it. The flag weighs around 15lbs and has a 25lb weight on it. There is a 3 ring release set up on it and its cutaway about 15ft above the ground. Stan uses his tandem rig and he exits at 5500ft and takes 6 1/2 minutes till he's on the ground. Beau

I got this today in an e-mail and thought they were pretty neat. Heres what the e-mail said: Photos of an Air Force C-130 releasing flares to repel heat seeking missiles. The pattern formed by these "decoys" are how they got their name... It's truly awesome! Because these maneuvers are usually in remote areas and over water, the general public does not get to see these exercises. Beau

I've seen the commercial for wednesdays episode of Ripley's and they keep showing video of the 300-way and of the rubberband ball. Here's what their website says: World's Largest Rubberband Ball - Tony Evans has created the world's largest rubberband ball weighing 2600 pounds and made up of six million rubberbands. In a Ripley's exclusive, the ball will be dropped 6,000 feet out of an airplane over the Kingman Arizona desert to see how high it will bounce! Skydive World Record - Three hundred skydivers from around the world will try to jump from five different airplanes at an altitude of 20,000 feet at the same time to create the world's largest group skydive. Helicopter Survivors - During the filming of the world's largest rubberband ball drop, a Ripley's helicopter crew crashed into a pair of power lines and miraculously survived. http://tbssuperstation.com/series/Episode/0,,3102,00.html Beau

The aircraft my uncle was in is an F-15E eagle, made by McDonnell Douglas which was the dark grey aircraft, the light grey is an F-18 Hornet, other dark grey is AV-8B harrier, and white and orange is T-45 Goshawk pilot trainer for the Navy. The F-14 is a navy aircrft. Beau

Sunday, February 23 Gusting winds put parachutists in peril Associated Press ROCKINGHAM, N.C. -- Three Army skydivers were injured Sunday when strong wind knocked them to the ground before a NASCAR race. A group of eight jumpers from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Parachute team from Fort Bragg came sailing into the track area, trailing red smoke as part of the pre-race activities for the Subway 400 at North Carolina Speedway. With wind up to 40 mph, one jumper was carried away from his targeted landing on the track and into the infield, where he appeared to bounce off the top of a tractor-trailer before landing on the ground, his chute caught on the antenna of a van. He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Another jumper sailed into the garage area and bounced off the top of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s hauler. He landed between race team trucks and a fence. That jumper, as well as a third who landed hard on the asphalt of the track, were taken to Womack Army Hospital in Fayetteville for treatment of minor injuries. Track personnel did not immediately have their names or any other information about them. At least two jumpers nailed their landings on the front stretch of the race track. Another skydiver never made it to the track, landing outside the Turn 1 grandstands. http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2003/0223/1513234.html Beau

One of my cousins sent me this. Hope everyone did better than I did. Merry Christmas. ODE TO FINALS WEEK 'Twas the night before finals, and all through the college, The students were praying for last minute knowledge. Most were quite sleepy, but none touched their beds, While visions of essays danced in their heads. In my own dormroom, I had been pacing, And dreaded exams I soon would be facing. My roommate was speechless, her nose in her books, And my comments to her drew unfriendly looks. I drained all the coffee, and brewed a new pot, No longer caring that my nerves were shot. I stared at my notes, but my thoughts were muddy, My eyes went a blur, I just couldn't study. "Some pizza might help," I said with a shiver, But each place I called refused to deliver. I'd nearly concluded that life was too cruel, With futures depending on grades had in school. When all of a sudden, our door opened wide, And Patron Saint Put-It-Off ambled inside. Her spirit was careless, her manner was mellow, She wore a white toga, she started to bellow: "What kind of student would make such a fuss, To toss back at teachers what they tossed at us?" "On Cliff Notes! On Crib Notes! On last year's exams! On Wingit and Slingit, and last minute crams!" Her message delivered, she vanished from sight, But we heard her laughing outside in the night. "Your teachers have pegged you, so just do your best. Happy finals to all, and to all, a good test!" Beau

My friend has an Alpine in his car that won't play most burnt cd's but there is one kind that it will play. I'm not sure what brand they are but both the top and the bottom of the cd looks the same, no lables on it either side. He's tried every brand and this is the only one that works. What kind of stero system is in your car? Beau

I've always thought the TurboLet 410 would make an ideal skydivng airplane. It has a huge door, climbs fast, high tail, holds alot of skydivers but its not legal in the US. Last year you could get one in for under $250,000, you just couldn't use it for commerical operations in the US. Beau

I don't know how far west in Tennessee you'll be but SEMO is in the southeast part of Missouri. We have jumpers that come up from Tennessee often. Beau

SEMO in southeast Missouri. 1 Cessna 205, 1 Cessna 206, and 1 Pilatus Piston Porter(second oldest still flying in the world). Beau

One of the stories I've been told is when a group went to California and they had been drinking before take off so they were already a little rowdy. When the commercial plane was taking off one of the guys "screamed every body forward". They said everyone just looked at them and they laughed harder. Beau
