AggieDave - You know me!!! I'm a hard-core vegetarian (I do eat honey - so not vegan), but I think I look pretty healthy. Freaksis posted a nice picture of Dallas chics - I'm the one in the butterfly shirt. Tofu, legumes and nuts have alot of protein, more easily digested than animal protein and with 'healthy' fat. Also many leafy greens are high in protein. Most people do not incorporate these into their diet tho', so if someone decided to 'go vegetarian' and just cut out meat - they would probably wind up pretty malnourished. The easiest thing for me to do was to learn to fly my arms first - then push down my legs. So - do try to exit in a sit as AggieDave said. If you start to flail - bring your knees up to your chest - this will keep you Butt-To-Earth. Use your arms to gain balance - look at the horizon. Once you're stable in this position - push your legs down evenly. The goal is to go from flying on your butt to flying on your feet - you have to push hard - you may go into a stand - that's ok. As a student - I loved the canopy ride because it was relaxing (unlike the freefall which was stressful). After I got my A and was able to start jumping with others, I liked freefall more... But now that I have a Stiletto 120 - I like them both equally. I normally wave off around 4 and pull about 3,5 - I have a pull-out, so I like to give myself a couple extra seconds to 'pull' - literally. I don't think so - AD A only applies to aerial skills, not SIM knowledge, landing, gear awareness, etc. Of course, it can be argued that for someone to get to the point of an AD license they'd have to know that stuff - but it would have no legal standing.
