  1. Gardner RV in Kalispell is the outfit most folks use, but chances are fairly high they're booked up by now. Here's the Facebook event page. Vader's right that most of the boogie planning action is over there now. You may be able to find some folks to loan you camping gear by posting there. Camping's cold, but it's definitely good to be on the DZ! There's shower houses and food vendors on site, so all you really need is a tent and a sleeping bag. https://www.facebook.com/events/866167760135594/ "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Haven't checked all the links in a while, but most of 'em are probably still good. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 4-Way in TX

Looks like they're looking for a director! The NCSL league director started NCSL partly because she wanted people to play with. She'd be a great person to reach out to if you are so inclined to get things going again in Texas. https://www.skyleague.com/pages/leagues/showLeague.php?league=16 "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 4-Way in TX

Have you asked around at the target DZs? Get people like Chuck and others who know people who know people to help you network? Showed up at every tunnel event and belly flying organizer day or other event and said "Hey, I'm thinking of putting together a 4-way team, here's what I'm looking for do you know anyone?" Finding the right team isn't easy, but a lot of time it's that informal / in person networking that makes it happen. Good luck! 8. What reserve does the container you're thinking about buying have in it? What can it fit? Remember, it's not just the main canopy that you should consider when deciding whether that rig is a good choice for your size and experience level. It'd suck to be low on a canopy you've never jumped, and over a sketchy landing area...and that's a very plausible scenario to end up in under your reserve. 9. Reminds me of a friend (also middle-aged like me!) who recently posted a cute photo of his wife and two kids curled up together watching Netflix on a tablet with the caption "Netflix & chill." He copped to trying to be hip without really understanding the reference when several folks pointed out that his picture definitely didn't represent "Netflix & chill." 10. As others have noted, fit and comfort are paramount. Everything else is gravy. One potential con to the Factory Diver should you require any service or replacement parts is that reports are that the manufacturer has gone out of business. Others may know whether another manufacturer has picked up the service work. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 11. Personally for those two things I'd choose either Skydive California in Tracy (closer to San Jose) or Skydance in Davis (farther). 13. I hope by "most everything" you meant all the Dropzones and not all the businesses. It will shuck if all the business were closed too. Yeah, I meant dropzones! But I guess those Oklahomans are hardier than I expected (or it's warmer than I thought!), being open this time of year. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 14. Christmas week? I think you're going to find most everything along that route closed for the winter until you get to California. Perris/Elsinore are open year round and aren't too far south of Rte 66. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Pumpkin pie

Yeah, I think if you gave me a blind taste test of sweet potato pie against pumpkin pie I'd have a tough time telling the difference. Pumpkin pie

Custardy? That's the best descriptor I can come up with for a good pumpkin pie filling texture. As for taste, it should just be a blend of spices that fall on the savory end of sweet (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice). I'm more of a pumpkin cheesecake fan myself.
  17. 7 of the 8 are current directors. Sounds like status quo, not change. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  18. If they were only due yesterday they'll need a little bit of time to count (paper) and validate (all) the voting. I doubt we could expect anything before next week at the earliest. 19. Huh. Well maybe I'll think about doing that. Hop from Cozumel over to Cancun and then to the Island. I'll already have my dive gear so it should be easy. Thanks! We flew on InterJet, a Mexican carrier. Our experience was great - their planes were modern (seemed very new) and comfortable, service was great, and both flights were on time. 20. I went with an organized trip, so I think the info you'll get from the blog linked above is probably more relevant as those two are self organizing their travels. That said, it's easy enough to move around, and the stamp in my passport didn't raise any eyebrows. I started/ended in Cancun, and spent a few days there before I headed back to the US. Not because I was worried about reentry but because a few days at a nice resort sounded like fun. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 21. Meh. I've found most DZs are consistently in the ballpark when conditions permit full altitude. If "full" is defined as 13K, sometimes they're at 12.5, sometimes they're at 13.5, sometimes you get a bonus and your logger reads 14.5 and sometimes they're busting to get another tandem load up before sunset and you only get 11.5K. Unless you're consistently getting significantly less than advertised (with no mitigating factors like weather or air traffic), it's all good. I'm guessing you don't run into manifest and offer to pay for that extra 1 or 2 K you got that one time when someone asked nicely because it was a milestone jump, did ya? 22. http://www.goldieblox.com/products/ruby-rails-skydive-action-figure From awesome toy company based in my hometown, Goldie Blox. She codes! She skydives! She has a real live parachute (and you have to put it together, so you can inspire your future rigger, too!). "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 24. Did the web site change screw up something on the back end? Because I renewed in August (charge shows on my CC, and my status shows on the new site as renewed), yet I am still receiving "renew now" mailings (got another one yesterday).
