  1. The view angle looks wide enough for tandems and mid-distance work. Definitely plus as you can skip buying wide angle lens for those purposes. BOSS seems to be working nice too. dudeist skydiver #42
  2. Lol - that must be the reason, why all the video pro's I know, work with Apple, on the dropzone AND in real life (TV, movie etc) Best, Prada Maybe it`s just beacuse everybody (in the branch) uses them. You know - "the hype thing". Or "everybody uses it, so I should use it too" argument, like yours. dudeist skydiver #42
  3. When I changed the brake lines last year on my XF2, it "seemed" more responsive and more "nervous" (the rigger somehow made them shorter). I didn`t like it. Next day we put them back to the original size, and I got back the original "feel", full flare waaay down at full arm stretch. IMO it`s just brake line length and personal preference. dudeist skydiver #42
  4. There were military units with Russian nationals fighting on Nazi side during WWII. Maybe, they used Russian made planes. Just guessing. More likely it`s reenactment. US Tanderbolts were quite popular as Nazi planes in our movies with WWII. dudeist skydiver #42
  5. At least some of those rigs look like skydiving rigs, not for base. dudeist skydiver #42
  6. +1 There were also times when US greatly supported "Despots A, B, C" when that was in the interest of US. So this "Truth, justice and the American Way" is just a catchphrase for the masses. The main thing is that everybody should ditch this "political correctness" sh*t and name thing like they are, e.g. "We didn`t like "Despots A, B, C". We thought that "Despots A, B, C" are bad for US. We want some of their oil. So we killed them. And you can`t do sh*t about it so suck it up and join us or we`ll get back to you once we`re done with them. dudeist skydiver #42
  7. That was the drogue that got replaced. dudeist skydiver #42
  8. Here, I found one of my videos of the drogue in burble . It cleared fast though, once the tandem pair went head low... dudeist skydiver #42
  9. I think that I videoed three "mals" like this this year. First two were about pretty used drogue that got replaced after it happened for the second time. For me, as a camera guy, it really was scary... Watching that drogue and bridle dance around back of a tandem... Scary is that it lasts for quite some time. I`m a mint Strong TI (still waiting for my licence papers...) so I would like to know how to avoid this happening. dudeist skydiver #42

    freefly?

Yes. Good luck with freefly. On a side note, a buddy of mine has 700 jumps/40+ hours of belly flying in the tunnel. He got himself 2+ hours to start to learn FF. He says he sucked - big time. It was soooo difficult to learn FF for him. In that time he managed to go over some backfly and some basic sit. dudeist skydiver #42

    freefly?

you mean my instructor lied to me?! those van sessions weren't necessary to be a better skydiver???? Oh, I forgot, It works only if you are touching at "special places". OP, sorry for the thread drift... dudeist skydiver #42

    freefly?

You can not learn anything in skydiving (skill-wise) by watching videos or touching people hoping that their knowledge will magicaly pass onto you that way... You got to go and do it. Lots of times... dudeist skydiver #42
  13. I was thinking more in general, because of Andy`s comments. But OK, I got it. dudeist skydiver #42
  14. I`m a ski fan. For me, going really fast downhill is like swooping. Zooming so close to the ground so fast, got to think fast, adrenaline, rush etc... Second thing I like is that you get effortless lift up the hill and have all the fun going downhill. Like skydiving isn`t it? Still, it looks to me that if you want to be cool you just got to do snowboard. You know, all the cool kids are doing it Baggy pants, hype graphics on boards, young and free. Hm, almost like freeflying Oh yeah, Abedy, cross-country is definitely for fossils Like classic accuracy (in jumping) Sorry, couldn`t resist. dudeist skydiver #42
  15. That`s what shocks me... Some rich daddy`s little boy sprain an ankle doing tandem and daddy sues everybody at the DZ. Until you prove your innocence as you were manifest/camera/janitor you are 50K short and out on the street. dudeist skydiver #42
  16. I hope not... But still, I figure those kind of conversations happen all over DZs. Maybe we should start thread titled: "Why bother? Don`t waste your breath, no one is listening anyway..." dudeist skydiver #42
  17. If I understand corectly... In extreme case, but possible... Wealthy enough guy can, out of pure sport, sue any non-court-wealthy guy with any frivolous charge and get him ruined/bancrupted because non-wealthy guy could not afford court/lawyer fees? Is that the situation? Like: I`m minding my own business, but if someone sues me over anything I`m f*cked because I don`t have 50K to defend myself? Rhich people could then make sport out of suing and destroying people`s lives. I hope I did not get this right, and that there are some measures one can take to prevent this. dudeist skydiver #42
  18. Like this? Jump wonder: I wanna buy a rig. Dude: What you have in mind? Jump wonder: Something smaller, with more flare. Not that boat of 190 that I`m jumping now. Dude: You could get 170? Jump wonder: But what if I want to downsize later? Dude: Oh, I think you`ll be ok on 150 then. Jump wonder: Really? Dude: Yeah. Sure. Just land it straight in. Canopy Nazi: Hey, Jump Wonder can`t land for sh*t. How many times in a row, intentionaly you landed anywhere near gravel pit? Dude: What are you talking about? Our landing area is huge. Jump Wonder will be ok. No need for accuracy. Canopy Nazi: What about landing out? Dude: Nah it`ll be all right. Canopy Nazi: Last time Jump Wonders were spotting the load by themselves they almost did not make it to the LZ... Dude: Jump Wonder is just going to be real cerful. Right, Jump Wonder? Jump wonder: Right. Dude: Anyway, why do you worry so much Canopy Nazi? It`ll be ok. Jump Wonder: So I guess it`s 150 then.
  19. A buddy of mine who works as as military test jumper climbed the lines on his reserve when slider got stuck all the way up the lines He solved it of course (he is still with us and jumping)
  20. Or a tailgate AN-2 with turbine engine? *AN-3 is all that, but not tailgate dudeist skydiver #42
  21. You hit it in the head with this one. dudeist skydiver #42
  22. hm... i`m tempted dudeist skydiver #42
  23. Never the less... Imagine yourself, concentrated to start a turn to (comp)swoop and your canopy goes apeshit like that, at that speed, at that height... Good thing those MARDs do their thing
