  1. We use two of their student systems and we are very satisfied, in every aspect. Students prefer to use it over other systems that we use (Wings, Paratec...). They say it is more comfortable than the others. Buddy of mine jumps their sport rig, very satisfied. Comfort, quality of manufacture, price. TSO might be an issue depending on where you jump and local regulations. Few earlier threads: here and here dudeist skydiver #42
  2. Dealers make things simpler for you. I don`t know what is procedure over there, but here, it`s quite complicated to get something shipped for service outside the country. 1. You contact shipping company. With them, you have to handle temporary export documents so you don`t have to pay custom fee when the unit gets back from service. Of course, shipping company charges for this service and charges for the shipping. 2. Then you have to pay service company (SSK here), usually through bank account money transfer. Here you pay bank fee, and currency exchange fee, and you have to deal with things like invoices and such. 3. Then you`ll want to know the status of the device while it`s being serviced and delivery time and things like this, which means that you`ll have to be in contact with service provider. This doesn`t cost you money, but time. 4. Then when the unit is back, it`s shipping company again, some more paperwork and some more fees, like additional custom fee (if any) and shipping company fee. All of that you can`t pay by cash but again it`s invoices, banks etc. So although it is quite doable for an individual, it is so much easier to just give the dealer your AAD, pick it up when it`s done and pay the additional price. I once tried to keep things simple and sent AAD through UPS and let them do the paperwork. In the end I ended up paying even more than the dealer usually ask. dudeist skydiver #42
  3. Judging from the videos, it seems that, without wide lens, it is wide enough for tandems/outside RW. And BOSS looks nice
  4. CX730 (some quick search video here)? DZ.COM thread here. It`s a bit more expensive though... dudeist skydiver #42
  5. +1 on that Very good customer service (I knew status of my canopy all the way through production/purchase/shipping). Got the canopy week or two earlier than predicted. Small customs fee, bigger than in USA, but nothing major. Thanx NZ Icarus
  6. It`s kind of mentioned here: Racer manual , page 10, right column, second paragraph from the bottom. dudeist skydiver #42
  7. Just to be clear for everyone, that is a DIFFERENT incident, so we have two different events being discussed here. For this "INCIDENT #2": The facebook video of a jump at Skydive Miami shows a complete two out, with the reserve rising up behind and visible on camera only 40 seconds after opening. But although the jumper's initial thought was that the Argus fired 30 seconds after opening, the video alone can't prove that version of events -- it is possible to have the reserve PC in tow a while and not noticed, until it eventually extracted the bag. The jumper did see 3500' or so on his alti shortly before his pull, and the timing of the rest of the video doesn't suggest any altimeter issue. So it wasn't a low pull. Canopy is open at around 1:10 on the video, reserve risers seen at 1:50 (very roughly), and it is noteworthy that the jumper only popped his brakes and increased speed at around 1:45 -- which may have helped extract the reserve. In any case, whether the reserve popped on opening or some time later, the altitude was not low, and the incident needs investigating. Yes it is different incident. Everything stated above is the reason why I`m asking. If it was an AAD fire, It could be easily established by just looking at the device and by loop that has been cut. If AAD did cut the loop, then why? Wrong mode setting, altitude adjustment or faulty electronics/programming... Either way, I would certainly want to know more. Personally I have no issue with cutter problem, but if is electronic/programming thing, it`s different story. dudeist skydiver #42
  8. Were you contacted regarding this incident LINK? (*sorry It is on FB, I got the link that way) They state that "argus fires reserve canopy after main was opened for 30 sconds". Any more info on that? dudeist skydiver #42
  9. Was the plane landing or taking off? Can pilot even see someone frontrisering 720 degrees in front of the plane, considering that start altitude is 1000ft+? dudeist skydiver #42
  10. Most of the guys here that jump the gear you refer are in 280/300sqft range for main (Parafoil/Classic) and 150/170 range reserve. Containers are mostly Centaurus and Parachutes de France Atom Axis. PdF Aixs is very much praised but, I hear the waiting period is long... Still, if you want to jump something else besides classic accuracy, IMO it`s best to consider Dave`s advice. dudeist skydiver #42
  11. After I got 500 jumps logged on my Viso it started having logging problems. When I want to see log of last couple of jumps it display only last jump data (say jump #506), and when I press the button to see the jump before that, it goes to some other jump (ie #205), not #505. It seems that it now only records last jump and the rest of the recorded data are random series of past jumps (ie #200 to #366). Anyone had similar issues? Did reset worked? I`ll write to L&B, but if anyone had issues like this maybe it could be nice to have it here for the record. dudeist skydiver #42
  12. Recently I watched this video.. It is an interview with Issei Sagawa, Japanese man that killed and ate a woman in France back in the eighties. Watch it if you have time. I was amazed by calmness and attitude of that guy. It seems that modern cannibals are not that rare... dudeist skydiver #42
  13. Ok, we can disregard stabilization, but sound quality? Even out of the case, sound from GP2 is terrible (regarding tandem interviews). dudeist skydiver #42
  14. it seems that openings got a bit better after he changed something (rings/lines? - google translate didn`t do very well) dudeist skydiver #42
  15. After couple of good tandem weekends ($$$) I have decided to go with new Canon 10-22. Now, here is the dilemma. For the price of 10-22 i can get new EOS 600D (T3i), with kit lens of course. What will give me better results? New lens on old camera or kit lens on new camera? My old 400D is still in reasonably good condition. dudeist skydiver #42
  16. Tokina is off then. We`ll see about the rest (canon 15/sigma 15/canon 10-22), depending on what I can find here. Everything is top-mounted on FTP so it doesn`t stick out. Thanks for the comments guys. dudeist skydiver #42
  17. Hm, ok. I guess I`m not rich enough to buy cheap stuff. I found also reasonably cheap used Canon 10-22, just doing the $$$ math. dudeist skydiver #42
  18. Anybody using Tokina AT-X 17mm? I found it dirt cheap and consider changing kit Canon 18-55? Is it worth it? dudeist skydiver #42
  19. I just wanted to thank you all for the advice given. I followed it and I think I did OK.
  20. I think the "zero" is 2cm for some time now. Also I`m not sure, but I think there is limit on how "pointy" the shoes can be. Migt be wrong on that one. dudeist skydiver #42
  21. Shooting some fun-belly-way. dudeist skydiver #42
  22. BOSS and CX730 thread here. Judging from the footage in that thread, it is very good. Especially because there is no need for wide adapter lens, hence no resolution downgrade. If it just wasn't that expensive... dudeist skydiver #42
