  2. Okay, let's try a few more: The head down jumps are occurring, they are unnecessary, and they add risk. None of that can be argued, so the problem clearly exists. The swoops are occurring, they are unnecessary, and they add risk. None of that can be argued, so the problem clearly exists. The tandem skydives are occurring, they are unnecessary, and they add risk. None of that can be argued, so the problem clearly exists. See where I'm going with this? Here's the real gap in logic: We allow tandem students to consent to a whole lot of risks that they are, in no way, academically qualified to consent to. What's the difference here? It appears that the difference is that some TIs and some BOD members don't like it. I guess that's just politics. OK, let's try just one more time. The things you have listed add personal risk to the participants. Those participants are in a position to judge the risks they are willing to take. And balance that against the enjoyment they may get. Students, including tandems are in no such position to judge and get little to no benefit. All the benefit and enjoyment goes to the grand standing wingsuiter in this scenario. If you are nearly done banging your head against the wall trying to defend your position, stop for a moment and look at all the support you are getting. Comparing it to other activities is not helping. Apples and oranges here. If you don't get it, too effing bad I guess. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 3. You seem to hate Hillary based largely on lies spread by those who have opposed her for political reasons for many years. The reality is that she has been a nearly life long devoted public servant. Definitely an ambitious and sometimes scheming one, but how could you possibly expect a credible presidential candidate not to be. And for some reason you can't decide if you like Trump more? Are you kidding? And yet somehow you claim to be seeing the picture clearly. You are seeing the picture through severely tinted lenses. Why do you think that after all these years nothing of significance has stuck to her? You claim indifference to her relationship with her husband, yet you choose to mention it, belying your claim. And you not only choose to believe unfounded lies about her, you spread them as well. The nominee selection process is indeed a train wreck on the R side. But it is proceeding in an orderly fashion on the D side. I predict that Hillary will win, and that it will be yet another victory for the American democratic process. Your system has not failed you yet, despite it's flaws. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. We know that. We know that cops are often in stressful situations and are just humans. We know that humans make mistakes. We know that most cops, like most other people are just trying to do their jobs as well as they can. And we know that the thin blue line is what keeps us from anarchy. We also know that cops have been covering each others misdeeds. And that they do it all to often because even if they know it's wrong, they also know that if they speak up they will be ostracized by their peers. But now things are changing because video and social media brings many of these actions into the light of day. It is forcing cultural change upon the institution of policing. And it will be good for the police. No longer will the bad apples feel safe to commit misdeeds. The new culture will be a strong feeling of not wanting to let your fellow officers down. And not to put them on the spot by needing to lie or turn the other way. It is called "accountability" and it has come to most people in most other jobs long ago. We all adapted, and so will the police. Now, if only we can bring it to politics! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  5. True, but have you noticed that there is only evidence of one wrong? We are all a little oversensitive about your POV. You are not actually going so far as to be making excuses. But I, and probably others suspect that as a professional courtesy you would cut him slack that you would not for others. We've all seen too much of that. Not just the famous cases either, but in our own lives. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  6. Mr. Hardshell Reptile, I post this link with the invitation for you to read this relatively short Time Magazine article about some of the reasons HRC has been given a harder time that any man would in the same position. I'm not expecting it to change your mind about her, but is should be some food for thought. http://time.com/4258976/disliking-hillary-clinton/ Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 7. I have no doubt of your sincerity. I will not be participating for a couple of reasons. And I confess that laziness is among them. Also the fact that I do not know any of the pastors that you would like consulted. I have known many people who claim to have come to the Lord in my lifetime. And I do not doubt any of them. Many are people that I admire. As there are parts of your story that I can also admire. But I can tell you that several of your posts in the relatively short time I've been here have turned me away from several aspects of your thinking. Your interpretation of the Gospels as simply a guide to your path to the afterlife, and not as instructive to how to live is offensive to me. But it does not turn me away from the larger Christian community that I live among. Although I do not believe, the story Christ is a powerful, beautiful epic. With many lessons for all of mankind. The Bible teaches many often conflicting visions of how to live life. Your sect is but one of the many. It is your choice to focus on the predicted end of times, and the return of Christ. This is not the sole, or even the central message of the Bible to me. Rest assured from my position. You have said many things that drive me away from your belief system. But you have not driven me from the Lord. You have only turned me from your very narrow view of the message of the Lord. If I were to return to the fold that I left as a nine year old child it will not be because of you. And if I do not, as is likely, it will also not be because of you. Obviously I speak only for myself. There is still a strong possibility that other people may have been driven away from Christ by your words. If you want to increase the flock, you need to embrace the unwashed, as Jesus himself did. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. I know you are a cop and you feel a reflexive need to explain the actions of a brother. That's the problem. There is another much simpler explanation. The cop is simply an asshole committing an assault and he should be in jail. Just like any other asshole who assaults someone with a weapon illegally. He should be booked, held until he makes bail, tried, and sentenced like anyone else. Nothing more, nothing less. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. http://parachutistonline.com/safety_training/keep_an_eye_out/3-ring-flip-through It can happen at any time there is no load on the 3 rings. It's very common on tandems, probably because the larger rings make it easier. Sit down with any rig and put the centre ring through the large ring while the small ring is in place. That's a flip through. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  10. Is that supposed to scare me? If I am the last Christian to make it into eternal life so be it. However, I do not think I am. There is something terribly sad about your brand of Christianity. The way you twist it into justifying your hatred of the other, and then believing that your faith will redeem you no matter what you hold in your heart. It is among the very worst of the many abuses of belief. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

  12. This is exactly what makes America great, and also what will make Trump ultimately fail. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  13. The real problem here is that the Senate holds the power and has the duty to advise and consent. But they are using that power to vet, not the nominee, but the President. It is a clear abuse of power. But they do hold that power, and they will answer for how they use it. If they abuse their power they will in turn be judged. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. Thank you, I've been wanting to say that for a long time. But I'm too liberal! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. That's not really true, at least not for me. Canada has recently had an election I was very interested in, with a lot of passion. But I did not bring it here because SC is dominated by Americans, and they mostly wouldn't care. My social media participation was FB based instead. But I don't blame you for having the feeling that the whole world is butting in. I guess it goes with the "Shining City on a Hill" and "Exceptionalism" that Americans feel. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. This brings two things to mind. It's the reason that the presidential candidate more voters would like to share a beer with will always win. And secondly, I have been guilty of rolling around in the dirt with Marc. And it also makes me laugh to see other doing it. 21. I'm sitting at a Flying J in Beloit IL. reading this. Over the CB another driver is preaching "make America great again, vote Donald Trump tomorrow" Gives me shivers. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. Enforcement is not the primary tool of BSRs. This one sends a clear message for wingsuits to stay away from students. The 500 feet? It's far enough to mean stay far away. So far only wingsuiters seem to feel the rule is not enforceable. No one else seems to think it's a bad idea. Hmmm..... If a rule had been written without a metric you would be saying it's too vague and therefore unenforceable. Maybe you could just take the rule as written and stay the hell away from students instead of saying you need a heads up display. Are you really that poor at judging distance? If so you should probably just stay away from everyone. There have been some very thoughtful comments here, and a few from people who don't like rules. But looking for a loophole in the rule is a little like lawyering up in the sky. And that is nonsensical. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. Only the wingsuiters who are also BASE jumpers are cool enough to score from under the noses of the TIs. I bow to them. The other wingsuiters? Well.... I'll be kind and just say, not so much. A wingsuiter that doesn't do BASE is just a wanna be. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I guess he lives in a place where you can almost always get away with drunken sledding. Likely to kill yourself, but not others. I think they will need a MADD chapter.
