We collectively, should know there is only one "World view" allowed on these forums. So I commend you in not blocking him,but disappointed that you actually block others, with what I assume a different worldview.

I don't anyone because of their worldview. I block people who are only here to troll. I don't block you, or RonD or Winsor.

Much like Palin I don't like political appointees designed to sway voters feeling based on sex or race vs. ability.

But it was okay to choose Pence to appeal to evangelical white men?

She didn't have national 'name recognition'.

I'm going to guess (not much more than an amateur poli-sci geek) that a lot of her lack of support was that she was seen as 'non-viable' on the national stage.

Sort of "she'll never get anywhere, so I'm not going to waste my vote".

I'm guessing that is the main reason most Veeps accept the job. They are all hoping to get to the big office some day. And not necessarily the dramatic way.

Western Democracy has hinged on those in power voluntarily giving up that power after an election. What Trump has shown is how fragile that voluntary part is.

All you really need to do is start a good old fashioned war. Then get the military on your side and declare martial law "for the good of the nation in the current emergency".

Well, she's not unpopular with people who don't hate women with brown skin.

She is unpopular enough that her own bid for the nomination went nowhere. She is popular enough in her home state to become a US Senator.

Biden was quite qualified. In fact, I don't think he added to his qualifications from 2016 to 2020.

Cheney, while rather evil, was quite qualified. He'd been in fairly high government positions for a long time. SecDef under Bush 1 (during Desert Storm), House Minority Whip for a short time before becoming SecDef Chief of Staff under Ford. Many people also consider Cheney to be the 'real power' when Bush 2 was in office. I don't fully believe that, but he had a LOT more power and authority than a typical VP.

Ford did ok. Not great, but he was given a really shitty deal when he took office.

Johnson did pretty good. He was a pretty awful person, but he took Kennedy's legacy and kept some of it going (Civil Rights and the space program).

Exactly. And Harris is qualified as well. But qualified does not mean popular.

    The law of averages.

The law of averages says that someone who had made it to 81 and is still in good health will most likely live another 5 years. But of course nothing is guaranteed in life.

So why, exactly, should Biden replace Harris as his running mate.

    And with whom?

Now I'm running a list of past Veeps through my head. I can't think of any that were considered ready to be POTUS by the general public. Did anyone want Biden? Bush? Pence? Gore? Cheney? Quayle? I mean, while they were veep.

Interesting.  That means the House will now be 218-213.  But it's very likely that the New York special election will result in a democrat, which means it will then be 218-214.  Which, in turn, means that if two republicans defect, then whatever they are trying to do - fails.

It's getting harder and harder to impeach cabinet secretaries. How will the nation survive?

Well, given that it happened in the 1940's - not very recent.  But the debate as to the cause of the rise of authoritarianism in Germany has been going on for quite some time.

It's hard to see how authoritarianism would not be the default in any large and well organized human society. We all live under some degree of it. The only thing that keeps it in some check in the western world is the thing we call democracy in all its various forms. It is the power to force a change of rulers on a regular basis every 4 years or so. No one or no group who holds power ever gives it up willingly. And we can all see that democracy is incredibly fragile.

What the hell is the matter with people like airdvr?

Judging from his posts I would say that most likely he is drinking kool aid from the big FOX pitcher.

Are you suggesting that if Biden has a real chance of not finishing his term, he should dump the woman with dark skin? Because she's a woman with dark skin?

And she has a scary name. Like that Hussein Obama charachter.

I only care when children are medically encouraged to change genders.  I think it;s wrong.

That's why it doesn't happen. Sometimes if they are very insistent they are allowed to begin. Allowing is not the same as encouraging.

I don't think Biden can handle 4 more years of the toughest job there is.  I believe a vote for him is actually going to be a vote for his running mate.  Many here don't feel that way.  I'm on record.

Kamala Harris is for sure one of the R party's favourite scare tactic boogeymen. (is boogeywoman a thing?) The reality is she would be far better than the recycled dotard they are offering up.

Mark my words. Joe will not make it another 4 years in this job. I’m curious to know if he will switch running mates.

Other than a "gut feeling" why are you marking your words down?

Thank you for that insightful analysis. Do you have any ideas on the wash, rinse, repeat conundrum?

Well….. everything and everyone ends someday. So either it fixes itself or you and I don’t live long enough to care.

And the list goes on and on... how about Taxes, insurance, the cost of living and housing that lead to a #1 in

Also #1 in Electoral College votes. 54 of them beauties.

That said actuarial tables say he will not serve out his term and that will leave us with this…

They actually vary depending on how the known variables for his health and history are accounted for. From a high of a 95% to a low of 75% chance of living out a second term. Which is higher than most give the fat out of shape dotard who is trying to replace him.

Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos started off supporting Trump's claims of 'election fraud'.
But once it became clear that the 'fraud' was all from Trump, Vos backed off and ended up firing the former State Supreme Court justice he had hired as an investigator.

So, of course, the Trumpettes retaliated. They tried to 'primary' Vos, and are now engaged in a recall attempt.

    Of course, that takes money.
So Trump's "Save America" PAC funnelled money to the opponent.

    Allegedly illegally.

The Ethics Commission has recommended felony charges against several individuals, including a sitting state representative.

What do you know, Chubb has a Moscow office.

    Chubb Insurance Company, LLC

LLC Chubb Insurance Company (previously name was ACE) was established in 2004. Chubb Insurance Company of Russia is part of the Chubb Group of insurance and reinsurance companies. Chubb Insurance in Russia offers tailor-made insurance products secured by Chubb Group internal treaties to Russian clients having adequate Risk Management programs and requiring a western insurance product. One of the main goals for the Moscow office is to service the existing multi-national Chubb clients in Russia, whilst increasing domestic and multinational company accounts across the portfolio. The Company provides more than 30 different kinds of insurance and reinsurance in the field of Non-Life Insurance.

Chubb group is listed on the NYSE and is incorporated in Zurich. It is an S&P 500 component. So if you hold any ETFs based on that congratulations, you are a part owner. Bonding judgements is not listed as part of their core business. It's hard to say what could possibly motivate them to take on this venture. They are already taking considerable heat for getting involved.
