  1. This is a prime example of an R politician whipping up the white base about immigration. https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/28/politics/fact-check-matt-maddock-invaders-gonzaga-madness-detroit/index.html
  2. I know that right wingers are hoping he will draw from the left by attracting those who think Biden is too old. I think the reality is that Trump supporters have a large number of crazies among them and that RFK is their kind of people. Plus he will give those true conservatives who can't bring themselves to vote for a D POTUS another place to go.
  3. Can probably figure something out.
  4. Illegal immigrants go through a lot of trouble to leave their home and go to whatever western country they are aiming for. They tend to be highly motivated, like all immigrants tend to be. They also have good reason to keep their heads down and not attract the attention of authorities.
  5. Yet he is careful to say that he is only watching to see if it is true. He wants it to be true but he doesn't claim here that it is. Instead he quotes someone else and disclaims that he believes. Why? I can only speculate that he knows deep down that it is nonsense.
  6. The interesting part to me is the intelligence gathering prowess of the NSA. They predicted this attack just like they warned Ukraine that Putin would attack. All without even having TikTok under their control.
  7. Not that much need for research. Some people just believe or want to believe in the truth of the quote generally attributed to Robert Heinlien about "an armed society is a polite society". Most of the world can see the inherent untruth in this. https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/ethics-everyone/202205/is-armed-society-really-polite-society
  8. Finally, here is a "good guy with a gun" story. It's all in the family. Both father and son were armed and luckily between the two of them the right one seems to have been killed. https://apnews.com/article/west-virginia-shotgun-maxwell-laham-f832d1c365832c44a88ac6054c8cc5e3
  9. Apparently the US embassy in Moscow warned that it had indications that extremists were planning something like this. Putin was not amused and it seems did not take the warning seriously. Earlier this month, the US embassy in Russia said it was “monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow,” including concerts. The embassy warned US citizens to avoid large gatherings. In a speech Tuesday to Russia’s federal security agency, Putin called the embassy’s warnings about potential terror attacks in Moscow “provocative,” saying “these actions resemble outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilize our society.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/22/europe/crocus-moscow-shooting/index.html
  10. Joe, will a PT6 run on purple diesel fuel?
  11. A significant number of democrats have said that if a motion to vacate does come up they will vote to keep Johnson. Apparently they have had enough. Leadership is signalling that they are willing to make a deal to continue to support him in exchange for an up or down vote on aid to Ukraine.
  12. What Nobel prize winners actually say..... https://fossilfueltreaty.org/nobel-letter
  13. Videos are fun. Here is a good one.
  14. Actually I have no idea how tax collection works on US airport fuel sales. I just know that if you have different tax rates on fuel depending on who the end user is then you will need a way to identify the end user at the pump. My assumption is that the same fuel vendors who service other aircraft also fuel "biz jets". A term which doesn't really have a legal definition. The devil as always is in the details.
  15. Self reporting? I guess you can trust everyone to be honest. That's why it's okay to cut the IRS budget. No one cheats. Everyone always pays their taxes fully and completely.
  16. He may not be afraid. But he sure enough is getting more and more angry.
  17. See that cake over there? I'm going to eat it. But don't worry, there's always going to be more for me to eat.
  18. I'm pretty sure that would have to be the case. Who would define "biz jet" and how would the tax be enforced? Dyed fuel?
  19. How does the ATC and airport system get paid for?
  20. The USA is suffering from PTSD. It is the effect of dealing with first the Trump years and then covid-19. The US economy on the other hand is doing quite well thank you very much. It does not watch and media or social media. Just seems to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/please-join-me-tomorrow-for-my-very
  21. It won't take long to get the spin from the usual sources. Start here: https://www.breitbart.com/tag/inflation/
  22. Not all business schools teach about the difference between real GDP growth and nominal GDP growth. You get what you pay for in education.
  23. Annual inflation is 3.2% in the US as of the end of Feb. If you can not make a higher rate of return than that in the current environment you probably hold a degree from the same school as BH.
  24. I steer away from investing in Canadian companies. I like Canadian bonds, but give me the the best growth overall which has been the USA for a long time now.
  25. It's a bitch when suddenly you run out of excuses and dodges and you have to pay what you owe.
