You just reminded me of a really funny incident - I landed with a guy out in "the bowl" at Jumptown and, after we both had great landings, we got picked up by the truck out at the bowl. Since there were only 2 of us, we squeezed into the front seat of the truck with the driver and, thank God, I was in the middle. We're driving back to the DZ and all of a sudden, I hear "oh, oh shit" as the truck's door swings open and "the guy" next to me rolls right out the door and the truck is moving pretty fast. It happened so fast the driver didn't even realize what happened and I yelled "stop, ______ just fell out (name hidden to protect the embarrassed). It was so funny (because he was ok) - he had his canopy clutched to his chest and all he was concerned about was damaging the canopy. He rolls out behind the truck and does a perfect PLF and amazingly he's ok and his gear is ok. We laughed our asses off all the way back and we thought it was so funny he pulled off a nice skydive and landing and then fell out of the truck! hehe - don't get me going. I could not land my canopy properly for at least 100 jumps - now that I have my Sabre, it has definitely gotten a lot easier, but I fell on my face, my ass, me knees, my palms, just about every part of my body except my feet and miraculously never had any more damage done to myself than a few scrapes and bruises (thank goodness for jumpsuits). Let's see, once at Pepperell I flared poorly on a windy day and fell on my butt and then got dragged about 25 feet across the landing area on my side while my husband is yelling "collapse the canopy" - DUH! If I could, don't you think I would be doing it??? I landed off on a night jump in Orange and fell on the runway - ouch, but fortunately it was far down the runway and the pilot saw me and picked me up - I also did one of those flat out face biffs once into the dirt (when your feet hit the ground and drag while you're still moving pretty fast, throwing your whole body forward and your face into the ground) next to manifest there and everyone was asking me if I was ok because I don't think they believed I was. Despite all the spills I've had, my husband probably had the two worst of both of us - he wasn't going to make it back to the field at Pepperell after a long spot, but he tried to make it anyway - his leg smacked the railroad ties at the edge of the parking lot and he landed face first on the field - then he had a nice trip to the hospital to stitch his leg up... Then, in Eloy, under his new Sabre 107, he gets cut off during his approach on one of his first jumps with it and is forced to land downwind - All I can say is the cloud of dust was an amazing sight... Yeah, you have to get your shirt cut, even if it's your dad who does it - I'm taking lessons in 152's now out of BED and getting close to Solo - I'm both excited for it and freaked out about it, kinda like I was the first time I jumped... CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so jealous... Rhonda PP ASEL

Hi Adam - Jumptown is mine and my husband's home DZ. We love it there although we haven't been able to jump there for a while, but we'll be up there this summer. We both did AFF at Pepperell, but made Jumptown our home shortly afterwards...I may actually stop by to give Brian our rigs this weekend because we're both due for reserve repacks But it's gonna kill me to drive all the way there and then not have a rig to jump. Our only complaint about the DZ is that it's a little far for us to get to, but hey, it could be worse. Good luck with the AFF and maybe we'll catch you up at Jumptown. Rhonda PP ASEL

Ok, since we don't want to get the pilots in trouble we've all pretty much agreed that we wouldn't jump gear that's out of date - but when the heck does it go out of date? It helps if we have a clear answer as to when exactly that is.... Rhonda PP ASEL

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out - Since there doesn't seem to be any real concensus here, I will just go ahead and call the DZ to find out - might be too darn hot here to jump anyway today... Thanks. Rhonda PP ASEL

I should probably know this, but I don't. My gear is going out of date tomorrow (July 3rd) - Can I jump it tomorrow or is it considered out of date at midnight tonight? Or does it just depend what DZ you're jumping at? Thanks Rhonda PP ASEL

I did a night jump for my 101st at Skydive Arizona - you had to have at least 100 jumps to do it :) What a blast. Rhonda
