  1. Plenty of old people in Phoenix too... When I lived there it was always crazy to look in the newspaper at the obituary... When the temps started getting up past 110 for the first time that year, old people started dying in mass... Also, people in Phoenix have no idea how to drive in the rain. They don't slow down at all, and you see them going 80mph in a total downpour with white knuckles on the steering wheel... hahaha.
  2. Was anybody else around to see what happened? She broke the rules of your appt complex, and it sounds to me like her dog ran up to yours, and your dog, not knowing the intentions of her dog, defended itself. The fact that her dog ended up bleeding and yours didn't doesn't mean your dog was the one who was doing all fighting. The way I see it, is that HER dog wasn't being controlled properly, because SHE chose not to follow the rules of the area where you were. and even rules aside if her dog doesn't listen to her and stay at her side then she should have it on a leash regardless. I don't think you should pay a dime, but if the whole thing with the credit is true, then it might be worthwhile to pay her $100 to make the whole thing go away. Be sure to get a copy of the rules in writing, and give them to her, so she knows that she isn't some sort of innocent victim. Maybe send that to her first and see if everything doesn't just disappear... It doesn't really apply, but if I was standing in a park and some guy came out of nowhere running straight at me, and didn't stop, my first reaction would probably be to punch them right in the face. Your dog having the same reaction seems perfectly reasonable to me...
  3. I met a very cool prison guard while on a couple day cruise a few years back... Neat guy. He was at our dinner table (big tables) and so we got to talk a fair bit. I guess he was in some kind of trouble, because "There are 3 areas on the body, the green area like arms, legs, etc. The yellow area, like chest, neck, and the red area, like the head. I hit a guy in the red area." Hahaha. Just the way he told the story was pretty funny. He wasn't a big guy, so I imagine using his club effectively was important. One disturbing thing he told me about though, was something called a pink sock. I think that is about as far as I'll go with that one. Anyways, best of luck with the job!
  4. Some things to try: Patches for sure.... Take an empty cig pack and fill with toothpicks, when you think of smoking grab one. A whole bunch of gum. Chew non stop. I used some pills from the docs awhile back, along with patches, and was successful. I think patches played a big role.
  5. I don't think Hollister is bad, especially in the evenings... The best for me, has been Monterey, followed by Skydive Norcal, which has some great views of wine country.
  6. I was just going to post this... What a bummer. He only stepped down from his job like a month ago, he must have been in bad shape....
  7. Man, I am the complete opposite. I do tons of research on a specific car, after deciding on it. If my research turns up things I don't like, then I move on. For cars, I usually formulate a list of engines I like the most, and choose a car which has one... Bikes, it is similar. I'll choose some criteria I want, for instance naked, v twin, etc etc. After that, I'll research the options I have, and choose from there. Buying a vehicle you don't know shit about beforehand isn't smart, and no way can you learn enough about a vehicle in the 1-2 days you have from seeing an add to buying...
  8. VW makes a hatch back version of the Jetta, not sure on the name. Any of the newer VW diesels are going to get amazing mileage...
  9. Most everything has been covered... FYI the west (bicycle) side of the bridge is closed, so bikes and peds are on the east side, and it is a little hectic. Watched a 12yo girl get creamed by a dude on a speed bike yesterday.. haha! (Both were fine). Going north to Sonoma is a great bet, there is even a great dz. Heading south into the Santa Cruz Mts is also excellent, Big Basin is very cool (old growth redwoods) or if you have a bit more time Big Sur is similar but even better. (it is just south of Monterey). Another great way to see the bay, is to drive or hike to the top of Mt Diablo... it is in the east bay. Great views. Anyways, hope you have some fun. Oh, and if you want some great beers in SF hit up Toronado...
  10. I had good results with the Avon super venoms, back when my ninja took 160ish size rear tires. I have run Kendas on dirt bikes for some time, and they do fine. This doesn't tell you dick about street tires, but the carcass is built fine probably. I have always been a fan of the Bridgestone BTxxxs, the 016s are great.
  11. I watched the landing live, nice work by those guys. The end of runway shot when they are flaring is impressive to say the least.
  12. I'll be at the race, anybody else going?
  13. You guys are slackin for not posting this yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuX-nFmL0II That is all.
  14. Man both of those were awesome. Here is another news reporter fail! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21A7-1SFRtQ
  15. Yeah, obviously that is what they teach you in class. It still takes time to make the turn. If you are on the edge of a cliff, on the outside of a turn, you can't make a tighter turn without your tires going off the edge. Thinking ahead is key, but you can't do that when in an emergency situation. Cars still turn instantly, regardless of the situation.
  16. When I was living in AZ, I bought a cat from Florida. (exotic). He did have a layover, I think in TX. It wasn't a problem figuring it out, talk to the airlines. Maybe you can get an early flight, when it won't be hot. Good luck!
  17. I think it was a good deal. Handzus will be exciting too!
  18. Good point. Another thing I forgot to add: Giant combustion chambers like that, make it impossible to get any squish. Squish is one of those magical things that basically benefits all aspects, so you obviously want some.
  19. The original Hemi was a good design. The main problem though, is that if you use flat top pistons, you are going to need one giant stroke to get your compression ratio up. Hence, where they do their best is forced induction. Take a look at this pic: http://image.carcraft.com/f/29970262/ccrp_1009_03_o+8000hp_top_fuel_engine+cylinder_head.jpg That is off of a top fuel engine. 8000hp!!! Obviously the chamber shape is a good one, it is just hard to use it properly in a street setting. The best design now a days, is the pent roof chamber. Take a look at any modern motorcycle, and you can see what they look like. Nobody is getting close to the hp that they are getting per cc. 12.5:1 compression ratio, STOCK! That is amazing on pump gas. You have to have a great engine to avoid knock at that compression ratio.
  20. Not a Bear, but still funny, and not only beer related but skydiving related.... Kinda. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lQtjn7ZVes If you want the best Bear commercials ever... Look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cr89xbl26g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwchenZolCE
  21. Yeah, obviously it was a panic braking scenario. He should of been standing on the front wheel, with the rear tire off of the ground instead, if he was applying all the brakes he had. Riders: practice emergency braking and turns! The biggest disadvantage motorcycles have in emergency situations: They can't turn right away. You first have to turn the wrong way, to get the bike to lean, and then make your turn. Cars can instantly crank the wheel.....
  22. I was sure stoked to see this month's picture all right!!! Too bad my face is behind some sheetmetal...
  23. Hey Bytch, I heard from a family friend who follows the Wild very closely (he has played a lot of hockey, and is always way into the NHL) that he thinks the trade was a good one. He thought that this D-man was a very talented one, and should really bring something to the team. Gritty, good work ethic, likes to make plays happen. He also said Seto wasn't very consistent, which the Sharks need more of. Personally, I think Seto was a high price, but feel better after hearing about this new guy. Excited to see him in action!
  24. I was sad to see that too. I can only hope that they knew what they were doing, and that Burns pays off. Seto was a very steep price to pay... Best of luck to the guy.
