First, without any proper test drops I would say chance of injury or death is as close to 100% as you could get. Second, most barns wouldn't be enough of a drop for most professionally made parachutes to work properly, let alone a home made parachute of unknown properties. If you really want to make your own parachute PLEASE get your master rigger's ticket first. That training would expose you to the information you would need to actually make a custom parachute and also expose you to the risks of what you are thinking about attempting.

The cat isn't actually half dead, it is neither alive nor dead (or both alive and dead depending on your point of view) with a certain percentage chance of actually being alive or dead at any given moment. The only way to find out if the cat is ACTUALLY alive or dead is to open the box... It has to do with collapsing the quantum wave field that comprises the system when it is outside any external observation... What kind of earplugs do you use, the compressible foam roll-up plugs? I usually wear them in the plane and take them out before jumping since I find it hard to hear my audible as well. Although if you have them in under canopy, and then open your mouth it makes a really cool whooshing/hissing kinda sound ~Droid

Ummmm..... You ARE a hot chick It depends on the DZ you go to, but at my DZ other jumpers, coaches, LOs, etc will LINE UP to jump with low-timers. I have never had a problem getting on a load with other jumpers (and I am not even a chick, hot or otherwise). Enjoy it, have fun, don't let anyone else force you to go beyond what you are comfortable with. And there is NOTHING wrong with RW! ~Droid

I find that polarized sunglasses help immensely. The great thing about them is that you can rotate your head around while looking up, and because of the nature of the light coming through the atmosphere it will get brighter and darker as you rotate your head. This really helps the clarity of the little dots, I find that when it is gray or hazy it helps to make it "brighter", and when it is clear blue or bright white it helps to make it "darker". The trick to this is that the little falling dot stays at the same brightness level, it is only the background that gets brighter and darker. I LOVE EM! But people look at me strangely when I am rotating my head around looking for them on jump run. ~Droid

Sorry, but a balance will measure the same on the earth, the moon, or the surface of the sun (at least until it melts ). It is comparing a known mass to an unknown mass, and the local gravity doesn't matter, of course there needs to be some gravity, so it won't work in uG (micro-gravity, i.e. floating in space).
