  1. Here I sit, on hold, again. This time to sprint customer service. I hate being on hold. At least last time there was some psuedo good muzak. This is some digitized crap muzak. How long does it take to talk to a human being? So far 20 minutes and counting. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  2. The Living Years Mike + The Mechanics Every generation Blames the one before And all of their frustrations Come beating on your door I know that I'm a prisoner To all my Father held so dear I know that I'm a hostage To all his hopes and fears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Crumpled bits of paper Filled with imperfect thought Stilted conversations I'm afraid that's all we've got You say you just don't see it He says it's perfect sense You just can't get agreement In this present tense We all talk a different language Talking in defence Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye So we open up a quarrel Between the present and the past We only sacrifice the future It's the bitterness that lasts So Don't yield to the fortunes You sometimes see as fate It may have a new perspective On a different day And if you don't give up, and don't give in You may just be O.K. Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye I wasn't there that morning When my Father passed away I didn't get to tell him All the things I had to say I think I caught his spirit Later that same year I'm sure I heard his echo In my baby's new born tears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

    Wake up call

I recieved in written form the following story this morning as it was passed around the office. I did a search and didnt find anything already in the forums about it. I thought it was interesting enough to share. Snopes says its true... http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/wakeup.asp The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  4. Dude, there is no way that I could pick just one song. I have way too many favorites. The first song that came to mind however was: Dire Straits, Sultans of Swing. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  5. I actually lived in Gelnhausen. I used to watch the sailplanes and the skydivers out there. I was a PFC at the time and couldnt afford to skydive. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  6. I agree with you. I was stationed in Germany for 3 years. It was interesting, but really I just wanted to go home. The weather sucked, the people weren't very nice, and you're not supposed to eat the beef. Who does that to themselves? Anyhow, it was a fun experience, but I don't think that I would want to live there again. There are things that I wish that I would have gone to see while I was there. Like the castles and stuff. I saw plenty of the countryside. Funny story, I was on a field exercise near Ashaffenburg. I was a remote relay team on top of what we called Hitler Hill. We were out there for 10 days. Well, about day 7 we had run out of pogey bait. So me and one of the other guys took a walk down the hill to the town. If you can imagine the look on some of the locals faces as we just walked out of the wilderness down the main street. We stocked up on some junk food and hiked back up the hill. Ahh, the good old days. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  7. well, lets hear the details... The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  8. Yes, please speed up to the flow of traffic to merge. If you are going slower than traffic when you merge, it causes people in the number 1 lane to have to slow down, which starts a chain reaction. Especially if there is already a high flow of traffic. As soon as someone in the number 1 lane has to slow down, people start to bail (at a much slower rate of speed) into the number 2 lane, this happens until the entire freeway is slowed down from say 60 mph to 20 mph all for one asshole who got on the damn freeway at 50 instead of 70. Anyone who impedes the flow of traffic (in any lane) by going slower than the flow will jam up a freeway that is operating at more than 50% capacity. Oh yea, and douche bags who are talking on their damn cell phone instead of driving always halt the flow of the freeway. 16. I just recieved this in the email. It doesn't seem to work for cell numbers, but for home phone numbers it did. I looked up my info. This is legit. SECURITY AWARENESS NOTICE Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit Map Quest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book. If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious. Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the map quest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself and encourage all of you to do the same. Please look up your own number. In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to Google Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to B L O C K Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours. Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, you may know someone who needs to know this. Please share this information with friends and family. Type http://www.google.com/help/pbremoval.html to remove your information. 17. The RHD Jeep has been available for years. Mostly for rural mail carriers. I sold one years ago when I was working at a Jeep dealership. I really have no idea what another domestic use for a RHD jeep would be. You can probably look on the Jeep website for more info. 18. mamajumps, I hope that I don't get overly involved here, but I think that there is more scientific evidence supporting the idea that kids will determine their sexual preference at a very young age. This topic was discussed in several of my classes recently, and it begs to be addressed further in the future. The problem of the situation is that sexual preference and gender identity are two different topics. Hoowever, they go hand in hand. Researchers are starting to discover that sexual preference is determined by a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. In what would be considered a normal male brain the hypothalamus is larger than the female counterpart. In the abnormal male brain it would be similar in size to that of a female. This determines the sexual preference of the individual. If the "larger" hypothalamus is present the individual will more than likely be attracted to females. If the "smaller" hypothalamus is present, then the individual is more than likely attracted to males. This is true regardless of the gender of the individual. Researchers have also determined that the size of the hypothalamus is determined during the part of the gestational period where the brain develops. If the mother is under some type of duress during this portion of the pregnancy, then the hypothalamus tends to be smaller. Certain environmental factors and drugs have also help to enlarge the hypothalamus during this point in the gestational period. Thus, making the argument that sexual preference is determined prior to birth. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/scotts/ftp/bulgarians/billings-beckwith.html: read the portion about sexual preference. http://news-service.stanford.edu/pr/95/950310Arc5328.html: read the 5th and 6th bulletted comments. http://www.narth.com/docs/whitehead2.html There have been several studies in lab mice that have provided fairly conclusive evidence of this phenomena. There was an article in Time magazine a while back (that I can't find) that looked into the issue. It was about a family that had a set of twin boys where one of them was clearly more interested in doing "girly" things, and dressing like a girl. In one of the articles that I posted, it says that of the 75% of the overtly feminine acting young males later revealed they were gay. http://online.logcabin.org/talking_points/Burr_White_Paper.html: another article stating that orientation is determined at a very young age. Now, to add my disclaimer: This is information that I found on the internet. I don't have the conclusive evidence that is available in journals and writings at the University. Take it at face value. There is minimal evidence to support my position that gender identity and sexual preference are determined prior to birth, and will be exhibited early in life. However, without the studies and evidence it is a pretty hollow argument. I will work on this a little more when I get home. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  19. Peter, The punch in the gut is probably the realization that it truly is over. Just be glad that you only lived with her, and didnt have kids and everything else that is involved with married life. She probably wasn't over you either, thus the IM telling you that she is engaged. Your reaction probably took her off guard, (since I don't know the whole situation) she was probably trying to get the last word in. If the break-up was amicable, and without a whole lot of drama, then most people probably believe that eventually it will work out. They carry on some level of hope that things will go back to the way that they were. Speaking from my experience, with the first ex-wife the break-up was fairly amicable and there was no drama. I was still heart-broken when she let me know that she was getting married. It was devastating because I knew that it was over. We had a kid together, and I had hoped that things would work out. Or, the other idea is. You are just a little dejected that she didn't want you. It may be a little of both. Drink a few beers, it takes the edge off the pain. Then go make some jumps. It doesn't solve the problem, but you will feel better. Now, before somebody takes my man-card away, I will be getting back to business as usual.... 20. I haven't had the pleasure of surgery on me knees just yet, but I am sure that it is in my future. Anyhow, both my Dad and Sister have had thier knees scoped. My Dad is not one to be limited by injury, sohe was up and walking around almost immediatly. I don't think that he was slowed down for more than a day or two. The surgery helped him, but he still complains of knee pain. But, he is 57 years old. My sister on the other hand, had the surgery as a teen. She was down for a couple of days, then was up and around on crutches for a day or two. She was a lot more careful. She hasn't had any problems with her knee since the surgery. I hope this helps. I imagine if you have any ability to endure pain whatsoever, you will be back at it within a week or two. The surgery isn't invasive, and it is more like a sprain healing. If you are careful and don't bang it around, I am sure that you will be feeling well in 10-14 days. I am not a doctor, but I did stay at a holiday inn express.... 22. I think that a lower mileage 97 or higher mileage 98 Rav-4. They seem to be overly expensive, and for no reason. The CRV may be out of the price range. Those two models are extremely expensive. Are there other models that you would consider? if not, you may have to bump up just a little bit in your price range. It is apparent that the market is willing to bear the over pricing. You may also want to look at dealerships away from the metropolitan areas. The smaller dealers will go a little farther to make a deal. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  23. I dont know, but I am willing to bet that they are in the Rav-4 about $5500. They are kinda expensive. I just looked up some pricing in my area and those things are made of gold. You might want to think about finding a different car to buy. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  24. I personally would never lose a deal over $900. But at the same time, he does have to make a living. If you arent skydiving today, go look elsewhere for other options. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  25. If you are $900 away, there shouldn't be a big problem finishing the deal. If he is protecting his margin, work towards the deal in other ways. Say that you will do the deal at $6400, but the dealership has to do a timing belt. Or $6900 and they do timing belt, brakes, etc. You are going to pay for those things eventually, may as well try to work them into the deal. I wouldnt buy it if they arent willing to move that last little bit though. He has already moved 1100, there is the expectation that you will move also. He will do the deal but not for $5900. If you want that car, you are going to have to move... a little. See if that works for you at all, then let me know. Oh, he should call you. If he doesnt, he isnt worth much as a salesman. If it was me, I would call you and either try to close on the car that you were looking at, or flip you to another car that is on the lot that matches what you are looking for.
