  1. Deployed by RSL after breakaway in basically a completely horizontal orientation after a violently spinning mal on my Samurai 120. The R-Max 148 loaded a bit under 1.4:1 opened quick and without any drama. I literally have no complaints about this canopy; it performed exactly as expected. Excellent value for the money.

  2. I have never worn any suit that let me move as freely as this in the tunnel, end of story. It's peerless.

I have flown about 2 hours in this suit so far and have zero complaints. It's like skin once you slip into it. Only options I added were the magnetic flap and the M&M cut for maximum flexibility.

I wouldn't jump this suit though, the fabric is just so soft and comfy I don't think it would hold up like the more robust materials found in Tony Suits or my Matter Freefly suit though when it comes to abrasion resistance, packing, sitting on the floor of airplanes, etc. For the tunnel though, it's perfect.

The cost is high, but you're getting what you pay for. This is a complicated suit with tons of pieces to it, and if have a desire to do a lot of dynamic-style flying in all orientations, this really is the suit for you.

  3. edit: It's been many years but I still love my Nitrons. I've gone though a 170, 150, and a 135 since I wrote this review originally. I still haven't found anything that beats it in overall performance. They have literally never scared me or spanked me in any way. I definitely can't say the same of most other canopies I've used.

My recent canopy history: Sabre2 190, Spectre 190, Safire 175, and Stiletto 150. After about 40 jumps on my brand-new Nitron I have to say I have no significant complaints about this canopy. I've lost some weight recently so I am only loading it at about 1.2 right now but even so it opens, flies, swoops, and lands beautifully. The riser pressure is relatively light and builds up predictably. Recovery arc is longer than a similarly sized "semi-elliptical" canopy making it a very good canopy to learn to swoop with when light to moderately loaded. Just don't go crazy until you wring it out up high first obviously, lest you desire a trip to the ER. I pro-pack the canopy and leave the nose alone, nothing special. I have had no opening issues whatsoever and jump camera 90% of the time as well now and found the openings to be soft and consistent.
