  1. That's really nice! Looks like the sun against a blue sky. When I get ready to get a new rig, will you design it for me???
  2. Mike, thanks for the wind speed card. I couldn't print it, but it did give me the idea to go online and find a similar chart for the Beaufort wind scale, which I was able to print... and have now memorized. I used it yesterday at the dz! Thanks. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  3. Hi, Riggerpaul: The DZ had one, but it broke sometime last winter and they haven't repaired or replaced it. I personally don't like not having objective data on which to base my decisions about jumping, but I don't know... maybe this is supposed to be good for me. When I asked about the wind meter, I got chewed out pretty good. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  4. It's the wind speed and gust speed that I can't get a consistent answer about. If I knew what those were, I could make up my own mind. But since there's no way of knowing for sure what the spread, or any other specific data, is, I'm constantly having to ask someone, "Should I be jumping, or not?" [Someone reading this may say, "If you have to ask if you should be jumping, then you shouldn't be jumping." That may be true of some hot shot always-pushing-the-envelope type, but I doubt that principle would necessarily pertain to me, as I tend to be very conservative as a rule--- perhaps too much so in the sense of passing up perfectly decent opportunities to learn/jump just because it's slightly less than prime conditions.] I guess maybe I should get a portable wind meter, but I'm sure gonna' feel like a geek carrying it out there to the landing area between loads. 5. I'm so glad you're ok, sweetums!
  6. I know this is an old thread and everything, but I've got a question about judging the strength of wind gusts. My DZ doesn't use a wind meter any more, and I have a hard time judging wind speed just by looking at the wind sock. There are a few small trees close to the beer line as well as banana plants. No matter how many people's opinions I ask about wind speed or gust speed, I don't get the same answer twice. Maybe I should buy a portable wind meter?? 7. Uh oh, I say this a lot! But I really am sincere. Really. I am. Really. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  8. UG! So sorry to hear this-- I hope it turns out to be something easily treatable and temporary. God bless Nightingale and her kitty!! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  9. Looks like SOMEONE is having a good time!! Hey, special-K! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  10. Yes, vengeance, anger, jealousy are human attributes. Each one springs from fear/insecurity though. And I agree that God does possess similar emotions, but his anger/vengeance/jealousy (which mankind has not begun to experience) don't spring from fear; they are a result of His RIGHTNESS. 11. True, God created man in His likeness, but that didn't make man equal to God. When man chose to "do his own thing," regardless of God's wishes/rules/desires, fear entered his heart for the first time, and he hid from God. That scene has been replayed daily, by every person who has ever lived (except Jesus Christ). Fear results in insecurity. Which is why every person "puts up a front," never revealing who they really are, except (not always, but possibly) to their soulmates/closest friends. It's also why some fight against God... it gives them a feeling of empowerment. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  12. Congratulations! Isn't it a great feeling????!!!!! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  13. "Insecurity" is only a human attribute. God is way above being insecure. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  14. Bill, I see your bible hermeneutic still needs some work! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  15. Dragon, is there a way I can download this video so I can put it on my iPod? I tried dl'ing it at skydivingmovies.com, but couldn't figure out how. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  16. I better say another Happy Birthday here, 'cos I don't think you check your MySpace page very often! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear Kathleen!!!! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"

  20. My reply to Jack applies as well to you, dorbie. Your pretense of labeling me as "post-modern" is laughable and desperate. The focus of the conversation is becoming personal instead of staying on topic. If you can stay objective, I'll continue. If you can't, forget it. (I've switched the focus too on occasion and regret it. It doesn't help anything.) Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  21. I didn't bother looking at your link to a definition of "reality," because I wanted YOUR definition. You pretend to venerate reason and rational thought, yet you make snap judgments in supposing that I don't know what the word "reality" means. Or did you pretend not to understand my motive for asking, just for effect-- you know, to make me look ignorant? If so, it only makes you look like you're at the end of your rope. 22. Awww, Michele, that's just so not right. They say that "those who can, do; and those who can't, teach." But it sounds like he can't do either! Hey, you CAN get through 16 more, and you WILL show him what you're made of. I know you will. It'll be good to have a few days off. Enjoy! Can't wait to hear about your A at the end of the term!! You go, girl. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  23. Definitely do!!! Just ask skydivermom or waltappel. Good story. Good storyteller, too! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  24. you must be talking about the ones with the little crispy crunchy things stuck to the top---- the Harvest Five Grain kind. Right? Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
