The bunkhouses are quite nice IF:- 1.You dont get landed with nightmare room mates making the most of the ample social scene 2. There is no pool party going on outside your window 3. There is no concert in the local football stadium The showers are great (mens anyhow, never seen the ladies). Lockers are good and you can hire bedding for 4 euros. Only draw back is the mosquitos the size of horses who will eat you alive so take some autan and a mozzy net if you can then some more autan. ________________________________________ 1.618 !

PLF landings dont seemed to be taught very well, if at all during AAF. I did the military course in the Parachute Regiment and we spent 7 days swinging and dropping from the rafters and landing in every direction conceivable before we were ever let enywhere near a parachute. Once it is drilled and second nature it works! As Bill Von said the key point on any landing is feet and knees tigether and turn the body to induce the roll but you must also turn your feet off 45 deg to match the direction you are landing in. ________________________________________ 1.618 !

what is your problem bro ? My home drop zone is Empuria, I live in London so it was all organised over the net using Matter's net forms. Anyway, Andy runs the shop in Empuria not Cedric. Ive never seen Cedric there yet ! So, sorry but nothing wrong with my profile, my story, my experience or my post. ________________________________________ 1.618 !

I bought a matter suit made to measure and specifically requested IN BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS specific requirements re the logo. Suit came on time, fit like a bunch of old sacks and they completely ignored my specific requests. Emailed Cedric at Matter and he basically laughed at me and told me to sod off. He did not give a sh1t. "Matter Airwear - You are the customer - You dont Matter!" If you want comebacks then buy anything else other than matter is my experience. ________________________________________ 1.618 !

AFF abroad - where would you go?!
LivingLegend replied to AdamSee's topic in Events & Places to Jump
...but if money no object then get your ass to Perris. I just racked up a 10k CCard bill there but jumped my ass off and got more tunnel time in than I could handle. ________________________________________ 1.618 ! -

AFF abroad - where would you go?!
LivingLegend replied to AdamSee's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Then it is Empuria you seek young Grasshopper Its got the lot, great scenery, great school instructors, good nightlife in season and sea level so no fast landings. Also it is very BPA friendly, you will get your BPA A License there with no problems when you come home. ________________________________________ 1.618 ! -
we just stayed in the Casino at Elsinore "Are you guyz skeiiiydiiivers ?" "Yep" "You get it for $33 instead of $53 then" "Kewl!" Its about 20 mins drive thru the hills Decent location for afters and handy for Elsinore if you need it Jacuzzi Bit basic but clean and tidy when the corridoors arent flooded with water due to a burst main. enjoy ________________________________________ 1.618 !

Yeah, in the UK a toggle usually refers to something...well kinda toggle shaped...like the hollow pipe handles. It would not be used for a hackey ________________________________________ 1.618 !

Any 1 in Texel 11th - 16th Sept
LivingLegend replied to LivingLegend's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Im gonna be in Texel with a bunch of Brits, Yanks and Canuks on a WWII commemorative jump week and was wanting to get some skydiving in while I was there. Any one going to be about that week ? And if anyone can tell me how to get the train there from Amsterdam that would be great ? Thanks ________________________________________ 1.618 ! -
Quote I think this is almost like explaining skydiving to a whuffo. You don't get it now, and that's OK and even expected. Like I said - wait a few years and you'll realize just how wrong your statement really is. Fair comment. You are totally missing my point I think but I will take your advice for now that talent is meaningless in skydiving, its purely down to jump numbers. If I disagree in 5 years time Ill let you know.

Thats the killer, cant argue with getting paid for it. Its funny coz my old man thinks that unless you are getting paid for jumping you are an idiot - period! ________________________________________ 1.618 !

So Jim, you are saying that because you have 500 jumps that means beyond doubt that are always way better than anyone who has say 250 ? What about quality of jumps, learning curve, learning ability, amount of training etc.... Thats a rediculous argument. This sport is no different to any other sport in terms of some people have a natural talent and some others take longer to learn. Jim ________________________________________ 1.618 !

Er, No, Military and HALO etc is NOT what we are talking about here. This thread is related to fun jumping. Therefore your reference to Military and HALO is totally irrelevant. So dont try to stomp in with your size 12s. If you read my post properly you would have seen that I said at the end "N.B. Its not me!!". N.B. Stands for Nota Bene (Latin: Note Well) which you obviously didnt. I did not and have never claimed to be an expert. I was merely posing the question that someone might be an exception someday. Further more, anyone posting on here is posting their opinion, are you are saying that you are not allowed to post unless you are an expert ? Lastly, I did my military jumps training at Brize Norton, UK Para Reg, but I dont count any of them in my jump numbers for civilian jumps. You have no idea where I have been or what I have done, you are merely assuming from my 50 Jumps number that I am very inexperienced and in doing so prove my point perfectly - Q.E.D. P.S. No offence taken

Oh, that sounds perfect. Golf being such a shit game thats a much better use for my practice golf balls. How can it be safely attached ? ________________________________________ 1.618 !

I was standing there watching. They landed less than 50 feet from me. Less than one minute before, I watched another jumper land crosswind and cut off a second jumper. At 60 ft off the ground, the second jumper had to do a 90 degree turn and then land crosswind also. No one was hurt? Luck. Imagine trying to land crosswind with someone on your shoulders. There were within 1 minute of someone being hurt. They were also lucky that one of the hook-turn yahoos weren't screaming in at the same time. You can't dodge another canopy like that. I have seen multiple landing collisions in the main landing area. It is the wrong place to show off. I thought it was an amazing stunt. I congratulated John. I thought it was irresponsible to do it in the main landing area. A little more planning might have resulted in someone wearing a BASE rig, in case of a 200 ft AGL dismount. So I also don't think it was well thought out. I still think it is a bad idea to try anywhere, regardless of experience. That was a very well balanced and thought out posting. ________________________________________ 1.618 !

Hold on a minute! What on earth is practical out jumping out of a plane in the first place ? Nothing, you do it for fun right ? So by extension of that argument this Mr Bill thing is just that, for fun so thats a dumb argument. I do understand that jump numbers is a good yardstick but just because someone has 1000 jumps doesnt make them good or sensible either so at the other end of the scale there is no reason why some guy/gal might not be a genius after 100 jumps. No reason at all. ________________________________________ 1.618 !

Damned right you dont! You got 100% control over the decision until you decide to donate your sperm Then she got 100% control over what she choses to do with it. Make your mind uo before you dump boyz coz after that you is a spectator! ________________________________________ 1.618 !

Just after I did AFF I went for my PVC toggle and got my thumb stuck down the middle of the tube. I had to let go, go back to to stable flat and retry. I always wondered if this wasnt a dangersous design? ________________________________________ 1.618 !
