  1. Hi, Here are a few pics I took from my balcony of the Bears spirit displayed by some buildings. Note: The temp outside was -11 when I took these... I must've really wanted to get the shot. ;-) GO BEARS!!!! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  2. Jump 57. A nasty horseshoe at 12 grand. I learned to have my pin checked before exit EVERY TIME. That's not a good way to learn that lesson. You can read about it here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1814821#1814821 "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  3. Ok, bottom-top-left-right. I'll try that. My rigger assembled the rig and shipped it to me, "ready to jump", so I assume he was satisified with the pack job. But I will ask him if he tried to shorten the loop. Thanks. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  4. I don't know if that's it. This one starred Burt Lancaster and Doris Day. (And Gene Hackman) "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  5. Wow, I just caught a behind-the-scenes thing on AMC about this old movie. I think it was in the 60's. It was incredible. They showed the jumpers who did all the stunt work for it. They showed their first camera helmet, it was huge! And they were even experimenting with wingsuits! They put wooden dowels in the wings, but then they were getting impaled by them on landing, ouch! They were all using the para commanders and landing with hard PLFs. It was really neat to see that stuff and see how far the sport has come.
  6. Well I was wondering about that (the length), but this was packed by my rigger. (He's out of town right now so I can't ask him at the moment.) But I assumed he closed it as tight as he could. It seems pretty damn tight, I don't know if I could get it any tighter. But it sounds like I'm just going to have to try to shorten it with each pack job. I'll also try the tip on pointing it the other way. Thanks. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site

    New rig!!!

Thanks for the tip. There is no velcro on it, but I could tuck it in more underneath the webbing. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks.
  8. Well the Dolphin was actually never-jumped, but I bought it second hand. And it was definitely lower. It was overall larger (it held a 190 and now I have a 168.) It sat about halfway over my butt, whereas this one is completely above my butt. So ya, it must've had a longer MLW. Ya, I guess I could wear the chest strap a little looser. I was always anal about having my chest strap very tight in freefall. But ya, then on opening that might be bad. I'm just bummed. I figured this rig being custom made for me would result in more comfort, not less. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  9. Hmmmm... okay. Bummer that nothing could be done for yours. I think I will ask Ankie. But I don't know how they could make it lower cuz the handles are pretty much just above the hip rings. It's amazing the difference with my old rig, though. (Dolphin) On that one, the chest strap was below the bust, so the handles were lower, and then there was still room before the hip joint. I didn't expect that much of a difference with this one. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site

    New rig!!!

Ya know, I was wondering the same thing. I actually posted in Gear about it. The flaps don't come together enough for the grommets to be on top of each other. (So the last grommet is off to the right, so therefore the pin sticks out the right.) Maybe my container is too small for my main? Anyone care to comment? "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." 11. Hi, Just got my new Wings, and I noticed that the pin is not actually covered by the flap. That is because the container flaps are not joined on top of each other. (i.e. There is a gap between the left grommet and right grommet.) So the pin sticks out the left side of the flap. Is this just because my rig is new and the main is a tight fit? On my old rig, the flaps all came together so the grommets were all on top of each other. Is the Wings just not like this? The bridle is covered, but I'd prefer it if the pin was as well. Yes, I'm going to ask my rigger about this, but I just thought I'd put it out here in case it's a normal thing with Wings. (My rigger doesn't see many Wings at my dz.) Thanks.
  12. So I just got my new Wings, and it's awesome! But on this rig, the chest strap cuts right across my boobs. That is definitely not very comfortable to have them squished. And also, that means that my handles are basically tucked underneath my boobs. On my old rig, the chest strap was below my bust. I think it is higher on this rig because of the hip rings. It looks like there isn't really any room on the MLW to move everything down, so I think I'll just have to adjust. So are there any other women who have this problem? Do you wear a sports bra to smoosh them down, or what? Thanks.

    New rig!!!

Woo-hoo!! I finally got it!! My beautiful new Wings!
  14. Thanks for the info. Looks like I should plan on going on the weekend. I'll be in Pompano Beach, is Clewiston the closest dz to there? Thanks.
  15. I'm gonna be in FL in January, and looks like not too far from this dz. Are there any fun jumpers that jump there? Is it just a tandem shop? Any jumpers on weekdays? Thanks!
  16. Ok, thanks to those who replied ABOUT MY THREAD. I think I will probably get the tie-dye. I like it. And, it's free this month!! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  17. For that you would first have to give a fuck about what people thought about the colour of your rig. Don't buy with other people in mind, do it for yourself. Ya, but if I ever want to sell it, then I will care if others like it. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  18. So I'm getting a new container, and I'm having a really hard time picking the look. Right now I like it with a little tie-dye on it (reserve container and partial mid-flap). But many people have said that I shouldn't get it cuz it'll go out of style and/or I will get tired of it. But at the dz I see tons of rigs with tie-dye. So.... Those of you who got a rig with tie-dye back in 2001, 2002, or 2003... do you still love the tie-dye?? Thanks for the input.
  19. Coincidentally, it's what I have. Oh, I didn't know about that, I'll look into it. Thanks. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site

    Dolphin

A great beginners rig! This was my first rig and it served me well for 2 seasons. The Dolphin is a safe, functional, affordable rig. Also, the service you get from Altico is absolutely outstanding! When I wanted it updated, I called and talked to Mike Fury personally. A super nice guy who really wants to keep his customers happy. He had my rig completely updated and back to me within a week and he even shipped it for free! If you ever have something that's not working for you, even if it's something trivial, don't hesitate to call Mike about it. He will do whatever it takes to keep you happy and flying in your Dolphin. When I got the rig, it had never been jumped, but it was from 1996. In the beginning I had some issues with the riser covers and reserve flap coming open in a sit (the new Dolphins don't have this problem). I called up Mike and he told me there were many updates that could be done to it. He put full riser covers on, all around tuck-tabs on the reserve flap, and I also got a bridle cover and velcro-less toggles. The updates were a major improvement and made the rig much more secure! (Again, newer Dolphins already have all these features.) The costs were very afforable to have all these updates, and he had it back to me in no time. Even though it is a simple rig, the Dolphin is very comfortable. I could do 6 jumps in a day in my Dolphin and it never bothered me. Nobody believed me that it was so comfy, but it was. (Mike even put in extra legs pad for me for free!) I demoed a Mirage and borrowed a friend's Javelin and I definitely was more comfy in my Dolphin. This is not a flashy rig, but it is comfortable, safe, and gets the job done. It's great for someone starting out in the sport, or anyone who is on a budget. My only complaint is that with the velcroed main flap, it makes pin checks in a crowded plane a little harder. (Especially for people not familiar with the Dolphin.) But I think thats a minor concession because the flap does stay closed very securely! All in all my Dolphin was solid, comfy and dependable. A great rig.
  21. But you've settled on your rig design, what else do we have to talk about? Well maybe someone else wants to totally rip my new design as much as you guys ripped my old one. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  22. Ok, U guys totally hijacked my thread!! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site
  23. Ya, I thought about that. But I'm pretty confident that I will pull them in the right order. And anyway, I don't think it would help me to just have 2 different colors, I'd need the cutaway to be red to be helpful. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!!
