  1. I can write a book, but here my tips. Take clothing that can be washed and dried without ironing. Don't take your flashy bling bling clothing. It will get stolen. Passport, cash, credit card, to be kept on the person at ALL times. They have stolen stuff off me while I was sleeping. Take sanitary goods with, and towel. NO ipad or laptop. Take that crappy old brick phone, or keep it with your passport. Remember passport number, and certain phone numbers, you might need it. Some hostels asks for your passport while you stay there. DONT. Pay upfront, and that is that. I had a passport stolen 4days before my return home flight. Life ain't easy then, and it was supposed to be kept by the hostel in their safe. The plus side - Young people with normally an active vibe. Great chicks (what happens in Vegas...) Local streetsavvy - People in the hostels normally have an idea of how to get about, where to go, what to do, where to change cash, cheaper meals, parties etc. And a good tip I got when in Tobasco Hostel in Jerusalem: Don't fuck with the Hungarian dude with the purple punk. 2. Had a serious hangover after a wedding, and the neighbour started his lawnmower at 06:00 the morning. With only my sleepy pants and a serious headache, my paintball gun came in handy. Took a while, but we are friends again. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 7. Think I gots it wrong. 100jumps is just a naked, with a THOUSAND, you get the pie. Whoever complains about stains, give him/her another. You know it's gonna happen, so get on your oldies. 8. Had to check a couple of vids.... but here goes: Check alti as I throw PC. Feel canopy opening, steering by leg to which ever way it is opening, or not opening. I have the rears in my hands before slider is fully down (riser slap=yes, but saved my ass a few times) Check traffic, and below me (Jumpers and LZ) Check alti again (gives opening distance and where I am from a hard deck) Collapse slider, open Visor, Cam off (First canopy check) Check handles and cutaway cables on 3rings - This something that I tought myself after seeing a vid of someone where the cutaway got bumped in the air, and flew till landing with only a millimeter of cutaway cable holding the risers. Check toggles, take toggles. Fly I do not undo/lengthen my chest strap, nor my leg straps. I do the old school cross the legs in the harness, and I do not swoop. Hope you got what you wanted. 11. Wolf, you can still jump out of a plane whilst paying, and the pilot only has a privates lic. You pay the DZ though. The only rule is that the pilot should not be compensated, and for that matter, they have found a loop hole for that as well. Sad in a way, but for sure keeps jump cost low. 12. If jumping from restricted airspace, it might be required to exit from 1800(got the t-shirt), sometimes even lower, due to some traffic overhead or whatever other reason. So, exhibition and normal jumping rules differ, at least here. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 13. By law (and this is in South Africa), you can only jump from a plane when you have a functional reserve, be it chest mounted or not. I have seen the BASEr jumped from a plane, and yes, it must be TSO'd. (Think that is tho only one) As for the jumper.....The jumper is not the guilty party. It is the pilot. The pilot is in command from the time you board the plane. The pilot will be held responsible when you jump with an outdated reserve, or non TSO'd rig. Now that is the law. I would like to see a pilot checking everyone's reserve repack date as they board. Kinda impossible. Funny that you only need a private pilots for dropping people. As for jump height, you can file for a demo, and exit low. That with given permission, but sure as shit you won't get permission for base gear from a chopper. In which country is it allowed to jump a single canopy rig from a plane? As that goes, in which country can you just hire a plane and exit where you want, without proper auths? 14. This after the triple fatal. When jumping from an aircraft, it is considered a skydive, hence it falls under skydiving rules, which dictates that you must have a reserve. Doing wingsuit proximity, it is done with a base rig. Is this then not illegal, or does it matter on the country? 15. Here by me the rule is 500jumps min for no helmet, heck, I think that includes the fraphat. I have forgotten my goggles once too. Lucky me, pilot had a couple in the front, for idiots like us. 17. So you're saying that if I jump, they will come? Nope, that is a different kinda jumpin. Boogers, probably took you longer to write this post than the amount of airtime for the last year. 18. I know this is more base related.... A audible that can pick up when you jump, and do a count for you. Simply count in seconds from the moment you leap off. You hear plenty people that opened too high due to adrenaline and ground rush. They aim to do a 12sec delay, but then it turns out to be a 9sec delay. Think this might be for the more inexperienced basers. You should also be able to put a beep in there for the ultimate last moment pull time. Jumper can set this on every jump. Another thing is to have it for students. When they are required to do a 10/5sec delay, without altimeter. Just not sure how you would get the device to start since the plane is already moving, and you don't accelerate as with a base. Trust me, students can't count. 20. If you go to Missisipi..... There they have open days for pilots, actually, every other Saturday is open day. You just go there, fill in the indemnity form, and you can fly. They don't even check for a license. You can then choose between the C206RG, the Twin Otter, or the PAC750XL. You have to drop a few jumpers, but after that, you can empty the tanks to where ever you want to go, but please keep in mind the 45min reserve. You can contact them by e-mail: [email protected] Best of luck. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is.
