  1. and paying around with the earth button, I see you can get sea currents and temp. Awesome. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  2. Hello all, found this site fairly interesting, and it actually shows air movement on earth close to real time, and even at different heights. Have fun playing with this experimental site. (no, it's not my site or selling a website, it is for free) http://www.weatherphotos.co.za/wind_earth.html You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 3. Looks great, sounds great, but darn these things are getting fast.
  4. Howdy, It takes time and practice, but my few pointers. Don't reach for a grip, fly into it. When turning, you might drop/pop a bit, keep eye contact and adjust fall rate during your turn. Try a couple of touch jumps. Don't grip, only put your finger on the person, then to the next turn. It will keep you "actively" flying the formation. Slow is fast. You are not bombing into your slot, but flying smoothly into it. Keep your hands in the same relative position in front of you, and then grip. Don't grip upwards or downwards with your hands, fly up/down first. Alas- tension on the formation. when you white knuckle grip, you are pulling down, up, sideways, and when you let go then, things will go hairy quickly. Soft grips. This might not even be you, but another member, and when they release you pop/drop, hence the touh jumps for the whole team. Have fun. 5. Me too. But we live in a country where 26% of the people think the Sun circles the Earth. To expect a high level of scientific literacy in the USA is to be disappointed. Uhm, like when they ask how high does the parachute pull you up when you open.... You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 7. What????? Do you think we just float away from the plane? We absolutely drop and not slightly. Of course we strike an arc because we are moving forward at the moment of exit, but the vertical acceleration is nearly identical whether dropping from a stationary object or a moving object assuming the jumper doesn't do something to modify that like tracking up the hill or using a wingsuit to surf the horizontal wind. LOL, you are not "desensitizing" the matter. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 8. You are not dropping. You are moving forward, with a slight downword arc. You only think you are dropping. What exit do you do from the plane? Maybe if you were facing forward in a standup position, you would feel the "sticking head out the car window" immedietely. Exit Order Safety

Good read. Won't work for a 172 dz though, lol.
  11. Not to ditch you, but you will probably be better off doing this as a hobby. Make money during the week, research/jump/experience/test on weekends. 13. Dead Guy in Training Which in turn would probably become a "digit" (statistically ) You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  14. With a gopro, that is as close as you will get, without falling into the team. When you go narrower fov, you might miss some points, like a grip just outside of view. Try a sight, before you go to narrower fov. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 15. Rolling out a C206 Rear door, while the tandems look on without knowing it is jump run. Fake falling out the door. Their faces are priceless.... Gainer, for sure a favourite. Exitting from two planes, always nice to see the other plane's people exit as you dive out to formation. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 16. I gots a 25yr old reserve. That thing has no jumps on it, is still crispy, and the lines are in SUPER shape. I would jump that thing any time of day. Actually thinking I must go base the darn thing. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 17. If they wanna do flips, just tell them it is too scary for you, and if they flip you around, you will simply cut the passenger away, like last weekend. 18. Ask the balloon pilot. He is in charge, like in any plane. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  19. With jumpers moving like they do, they'll probably cancel the dutch roll. (And would a see through bubble like window in the floor not be cool for spotting) You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 20. A little off topic, but my dream ship would be: Top wing, with dehidral, similar wing to the PAC, but a bit longer. Twin diesel engines, turbo charged, 700Hp each 3 rows of seats, Tailgate. Why? Top wing design is just more stable(CG is low), and dehidral offers stability. Diesel engines are not yet so explored in "larger" aviation, but they do perform much better at altitude, and economical. Twin engines, safer, faster climb. 3 rows of seats and tailgate......Thats just me. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  21. What the others said. Spend a little more time at the DZ. Book your jump when you feel right, and when the weather is better. Face the fear. 22. Look for the biggest guy, spill his beer, then beat the crap out of him in front of everyone in the bar. You will be famous, and everyone will be your "friend". Once off student status, ask around who wants to do a jump with you. Soon you'll have plenty of friends, and probably not just at the DZ. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  23. Your chance of death remains at .0000075, for every jump. Every time you buy your lotto ticket, your odds are the same. Your chance do not increase as you keep on playing. Over the years I have made the rough calc that a person dies for every 100 000 jumps, and mainly nowadays due to canopy flight. (My opinion) As for insurance, how they calc it I don't know, but.... When asking for prices on life insurance, it actually increases the higher the rating. Thus, the student pays less than the c-lic. Why I don't know. The real answer: It's not safe. (Thats why there is 3.2 million jumps every year.) You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 24. Wonder if a loose handle like that might pull the reserve on opening force.... The use of spectra with bungee cord...Seems like a valid option, yet, also introduces other issues. (Which I am not familiar with, but you know what they say) You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  25. The main seems 7cell. Main and reserve seems to be seperated. Only line twist on the reserve. Chop might entangle main with reserve. Never thought I would say this, but it sure seems a blade on the reserve might just work out fine. Once you cut one side, the rest should just drag behind you from the other riser side. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
