  1. But with this setup you will not have the same flexibility. You have to disconnect the static line/bag and connect a PC to use the rig in freefall. With a throw out SL setup you only need to disconnect the velcro and close the rig as usual. Just depends on how badly you want to do this. Anyways, I can detach and reattach my Bridal in a jiffy. The static bag is loose anyways. (You cannot really do this with normal gear, you require elastic loops on the outside flaps to keep the static line in place) You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 2. "distance from backbone to belly" -- Hence my extra baggy jumpsuits. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  3. I would do direct-bag static. Probably not roll th enose, and NOT use a fast canopy. Not hilly country, and at least 4000ft exit. In this scenario, there is no pilot chute, you should have at least a 1000ft fall for the main to open, and if not, enough alti to do EP. Hookup point should be strong, and have a hook knife in the balloon, same as in the plane, with a jumpmaster helping you climb out. Two cents. 4. I'll be grounded.....If anyone sees my opening altitude. Damn, I'll probably scare myself. I do like the G-Force though, would love to see what it does on a Banger opening, or even on a spinning mal. 5. You have to be willing to spend a whole lot more to get some decent form of income.....and, untill then, you will be the DZbum.. 8. Richy, Remember, your rig is probably club gear, and it might vary from one rig to another, the exact location of Hackey/PC as you called it. When you reach for it on the ground and in the air might also give a difference. There is a technique that I have heard being tought - Reach once, if nothing, feel from your back onto your rig. If you hit the corner, and nothing there, EP immedietly. Else you will normally find it. You might be sittting with a Hackey/handle that was pushed inside the BOC with exit, or some funny thing. 9. I always thought the V-Lock used in some canopies could be applied to biking gear, just much smaller scale, with lots of locks. 10. Flashlight, knife, bottle of water, cash and comms. Stay with your mates, follow the leader. (a broken ankle in the field...you will need your mate) Know terrain, but also know where the roads are for easy recovery/navigation. Fly with the sun. I used to do it with student gear. Only released toggles at 3000ft agl. Enough time to sort a stuck toggle, and landing can get rough with strong winds, specially when out, or building/tree rotors etc. (the fun part was using static line rigs, lol) Be carefull of hilly valleys/altitude. 11. Tandem BASE rigs...... Then you can deploy at 1000ft. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. Davelepka - "This isn't an x-box, or a Chevy truck forum" Whatever you do, don't listen to ChrisD.
  12. Let's make this cash last.... When you get to the US, get a bike, side panniers etc for gear. Road trip it from one DZ to another. DZ accomodation is normally much cheaper than hotels, and plenty of places you can stay for free(bunk beds, or tenting). You will meet loads of friends, and you can then even follow them to events/boogies, they will probably offer you accomodation, tips etc. Then there is Lodi, cheap ass prices, but you need good friends to have fun. So get all the friends you made on yourr travels, to have a mini goodbye boogie at Lodi. Along the way, hit a tunnel (perris or so), and then there is bridge day. You gonna need about 5 years and a much bigger budget. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 13. The question still stays, how does the projectiles get such clearance from each other. Burble isn't enough for the distance. 15. Hello, Please see this picture. Why would these objects, with same size, shape, and exit "attitude", perform differently after exit. Makes me wonder how the same exit would differ to another, even for the same jumper.... Or is there different weights in what they are dropping here? 16. Yes, it is normal. Making a hard turn though burns altitude. Really try to keep a flatter turn on long spots, or harness input. 17. Oh God no. While noble, it really is stupid. I know first hand what it's like catching a friend's cut-away (up high on a CRW jump after an entanglement. Took me a couple of passes before I snagged it on my foot, and the drag of the thing put my canopy into a diving down-plane until I was able to reel in the canopy and stash it between my knees. I lost over 2000 feet. Do that down low after a normal altitude deployment and cutaway and you are FUCKED. One time a buddy told me approximately where my canopy was in the woods/brush by hanging his bandana on the fence and saying straight in from there (at Moss Point) Another time I landed out after a cutaway and couldn't find it so the DZ sent a C182 out doing circles until the pilot located it. (at Lake Wales) YUP, was being sarcastic. After two way with insufficient tracking, my friend had a chop. I flew same direction as him (Like usual), with cam. When he chopped a line over, I followed him down with the cam. Needless to say, when reserve opened, I looked in front of me. Nearly caught his main, and luckily not. It was a 230!!! 18. Back in the day I heard the pilots brag when a round was cut away and it landed close to the landing cirlce. Suppose the spot was good then, and obviously the the main landed close enough not to loose it. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 19. If you got good friends, they would catch it for you under canopy. Has been discussed quite a bit in the past. Problems are generally battery power, and search range/device range, and then SIZE. Think soon you will see some gadget on the market. I saw a tracking unit for handguns the other day, was built into the grip. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. 20. after opening, leave brake lines stowed, and pull left front riser.. Which way are you gonna turn? No this one had me, till I tried it for myself. 21. I recently visited the factory in SA. Picked up a Zulu, Smart and NexGen. The harness is made in the USA, the canopy is made in Durban area. The toggle fire is alarming though, at a very high rate. Thing is my toggles sit VERY firmly, cannot see a toggle fire happening. 25. Sometimes, I can see white powdery stuff when a chute opens. And it wasn't a prank, or toilet paper placed in the container. Can anyone tell me why this happens.
