  1. Assisted a friend back in the late 90's to build a beginner board.
Building the beginner board was not difficult.

Finding the darn board after how many board cut-aways.......First problem was to get upright before pull. The next was, once you spin, well, you spin. (on vertical axis)

LOL, don't forget the "stabilising webbed gloves".:)

You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is.

  2. You have a couple of frapps lying around in your gear storage.

Your rig expired, but you bought it new, but you will never sell it, and yes, it is always packed and ready. Just in case. OH, it had a "throw out on the legstrap" with a sh1tload of Velcro. Damn, that 145 eliptical was the smallest state of the art canopy back then. LOL

What front risers? I hook it in......toggle style.

  3. Yup, was a kid once too. Got some nice "tiger claw" rips through my jumpsuit. B|

    Back to volume.

  4. Have you tried crew with high performance canopies?

    :)

Think there would be a serious pressure difference between low aspect 7 cell types, and high speed smaller ones.

  5. Excess Adrenaline?

I can't seem to get enough, so all the peeps that have too much, please send it to me.

  6. Iran and ran and ran.

Volume per cell or total volume....

Remember you have some tapered/eliptical canopies.

Get dimensions from manufacturer, then it should be fairly simple, or get a blown up old canopy.

What would be interesting though, is air pressure. That wing gets rock solid in the air....

  7. Give a newb a new experience. Do a funjump, with a different exit. Guarilla, or carthweel or something.

They all want to do those odd jumps, and probably will, but without thinking about the risk, or with another newb.:|

You are definitely getting beer after that. Win win.

  8. ABCD mainly from what I have seen, novice to expert.

There is a difference between a License, and a Rating.
You cannot loose your license, but you can loose your rating

You can be grounded though. LOL - even for life.

    Ratings below:

    JM Jumpmaster
    AI Artistics Instructor
FF Flat Fly or old school freefall
    TIstr Tandem Instructor on Strong
    CPI Canopy Piloting

    blah blah blah

  9. I can't throw mine away......Sentiment

Specially not my very 1st rig, thats end of life now. Not even a single jump on the reserve, knots are still "crunchy".

My kid will probably bin it one day once I'm gone.

  10. So, please let me know yours...

When I got divorced, it was a thing of "Cutaway" before it's too late...and yes, there is a reserve.

Decision making/risk calculation in an instant. Wonder how many people can successfully do that, specially when driving bike/car.

You have one landing, get your approach right. There ain't no second chance. Use that one every day, a good approach gets results quicker.

Plan your dive, plan your day. Dive your plan, live your plan.

Jump, pack. Don't wait till later, you will just be less willing to do so, same with tedious tasks, just do it already.

Gear checks. I stop and check if I have everything required before getting into my vehicle.

Safety first. Darn, my son even tells me that nowadays.

There is never not enough money to jump. I realized that if I want something, just get it. Somehow you will make a plan to get the cash, even if it is baked beans on toast for a month.

Dress for success. That jumpsuit does give you an edge. Same thing when going to work. You are much more respected/listened to when well dressed.

Your friends will die, or even you. Come to terms with it. It WILL happen, not just in the sport.

Pay first, then jump. better saving for something than paying it off.

Lastly....Stay calm, take a deep breath(before jumping), focus on what is at hand.

  11. I have seen them work, for both student and pro. Also lost a friend due to unconsciousness in mid air (Thousands of jumps, and all his life in the sport) AAD would have saved him.

I am pro mandatory for all.

  12. I get you.

But when you do your yearly USPA membership or any country for that matter, you could do a survey which will, in the bigger picture offcourse, give you reasonable information.

With that you should have a far better business plan, than just BPA numbers like you say.

  13. I would like to know what the average number of jumps is per person, and the average spending power.

Then, how is that spending power devided into jumps, gear, beer, travel, etc.

  14. You are talking about a rig/reserve, not a main.

You can sometimes get a full package deal, much cheaper. (Specially when the company makes both main/reserve/harness)

You get to choose your colours!!!

  15. Hellis

***Here is a picture of the setup potatoman was suggesting, also from United Parachute Technologies. This would probably be the best way to go.

But with this setup you will not have the same flexibility.
You have to disconnect the static line/bag and connect a PC to use the rig in freefall.
With a throw out SL setup you only need to disconnect the velcro and close the rig as usual.

Just depends on how badly you want to do this. Anyways, I can detach and reattach my Bridal in a jiffy. The static bag is loose anyways. (You cannot really do this with normal gear, you require elastic loops on the outside flaps to keep the static line in place)

  17. I would do direct-bag static. Probably not roll th enose, and NOT use a fast canopy.

Not hilly country, and at least 4000ft exit.

In this scenario, there is no pilot chute, you should have at least a 1000ft fall for the main to open, and if not, enough alti to do EP.

Hookup point should be strong, and have a hook knife in the balloon, same as in the plane, with a jumpmaster helping you climb out.

    Two cents.

  18. I'll be grounded.....If anyone sees my opening altitude.

    Damn, I'll probably scare myself.

I do like the G-Force though, would love to see what it does on a Banger opening, or even on a spinning mal.
