  1. Again. What has this got to do with basejumping? Go find a suicide forum...
  2. What's this got to do with basejumping? Just try to find a gun forum on the internet.
  3. I recently changed the soft slider bumpers into some harder plastic ones, because they got worn by frequent slider on/off changes: the original bumpers of my Gargoyle are really elastic, and they break in no time. I'm a little worried about friction that might occur between the lines of the canopy and the hard plastic at openings, because the plastic bumpers are much stiffer and the upper border much thicker and sharper. Is line damage possible? trust but verify
  4. It's not whether the grommets of the slider are above or below the stops, thats not the question. It's about the slider not coming off the risers -ever-, try to imagine the V shape... trust but verify
  5. Just take some time and take a good look at your risers. In case the grommet passes below the stop, it's stil being held by the riser on the opposite side. It's not difficult to imagine, you've just got to know your parachute before you jump it! So short answer: No. trust but verify
  6. QuoteWhat does a riser release have to do with a slider?? huh?! this is pretty obvious. It should be basic knowledge if you are basejumping! If you can't imagine the riser is held down by the slider in case of a release, I think you better start playing golf... trust but verify
  7. What do you do for short delays? Is there somebody out there who's concerned about an accidental riser release and the fatal consequence of not having a slider above your head? trust but verify
  8. There are some topics about Suunto watches in the skydiving/wingsuit forums, but I really like to know which Suunto is best for basejumping... Are there models with altimeters accurate for 1m/3ft? Which one do you use?
  9. I am planning to tighten myself behind a car with a rope while standing on some sort of skateboard. The rope is attached to one end of the car, and the other end to a kite-surf system on my body, which allows me to unleash the rope by a simple click. Ofcourse, I will be wearing my unpacked skydive rig. I want to exercise my flare skills, so I have to reach a height of minimum 10 metres. Now my question: can this be done in theory? How fast do I have to go in horizontal speed to generate lift in my Sabre 150? Am I stupid?

    Ground crew

What are the most important tasks for ground crew? Anyone carries oxygen for eventual resuscication? trust but verify
  11. I've been thinking about getting into BASE for a long time. Made almost the 250 skydives and have been practising some CRW and accuracy. I read as much as possible about BASE in forums and articles on the web. My goal is getting into BASE next summer. First I want to further explore my canopy techniques this year, because I really want to be prepared as good as possible. Now, I've understood that it is really important to do a FJC anywhere in the world. I live in Europe, so for me, the cheapiest way would be a FJC in Kjerag? Or are there any manufacurers who organise jump courses in Europe (B- and/or A- jumps)? I can really understand that there are some -major?- Earth-style issues about a first jump in Kjerag. Are the risks reduced by this pendulator-thing? Do I really have to come to the States to attend a safe instruction course (like Bridge Day)? Hope for any reply. Thanks.
