  1. Come cool new photos of the record attempts posted too. Nice one http://www.babylon-freefly.com/GalleryRecord.htm
  2. First impressions often affect how you are treated when visting some where new or for the first time. Your posts come accross as someone who might be a problem customer, anything to do with it?
  3. Fair one. But something tells me when he gets a little time on water he won't have a problem!
  4. Thanks, that thread was excellent - it was in relations to demoing canopies on other risers and getting hold of some longer risers for my atom. This post from Bill Booth is the most applicable: In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have seen problems with reverse risers, why have you not replaced your risers with conventional risers? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would you go against the manufacturers recomendations and change the risers on your rig. PDF rigs all come with integrity risers, I have contacted them in the past about changing the risers and they don't recommend it, they don't even manufacture a standard riser. So if PDF owners were to change they would have to use a riser from another manufacturer. Mismatching gear is recipe for more trouble. If you were told that Aerodyne's miniforce system was the best would you rush out and change your risers even though the particular manufacturer of your rig told you not to. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REPLY The 3-ring release is a system of carefully matched components. I did everything I could to "standardize" that system, but a lot of people refused to listen. The result was mini-rings of differing dimensions, soft housings, and reversed risers, to name just a few. Each of these changes lowered the integrity of the original design, and therefore lowered reliability. This also happened with my hand deployed pilot chute, with people changing dimensions and construction methods to the point where a lot of people are having problems with what ought to be the most "dirt-simple" and reliable part of their gear. This is the main reason I have not released the Skyhook yet. I'm scared what people will do to it. So, do I recommend haphazardly replacing reversed risers with standard ones? NO, unless you really know what you are doing. The diameter of the new riser rings may be different, and the housing lengths might be wrong.
  5. My understanding is that reverse risers should be only fitted on rigs designed for them, although normal risers can still be used with a rig designed for use with reverse risers. My question: Can normal, RWS truelock risers be fitted on a PDF Atom-R container???
  6. Stop press, replied with out checking aerial focus web page!! That's just what I am after. Thanls for the infomation
  7. Thanks people, some leads there. Any idea what the cages weigh in at? I'm not so interested in the box, just the cages.
  8. I have been searching a few of the skydiving equipment online stores and am looking for a plastic frame/cage to put a PC-120 in for a top mount. As I recall ParaGear used to sell some, but I couldn't see any on their web-page. Any ideas or knowledge on where they are available?
  9. Go Verticals are good and definitely worth the effort attending. Load organising tends to one or two people per load. Groups do form with some minimum standards required. This is for safety more than anything. However load organising is for all levels, not just the high end. The best thing is that the plane is just for freeflyers. The event therefore makes everyone feel included. Daily videos bring people together, so you can check out what the different people are doing and have access to meet and talk with different people. They are fantastic events, Jan the pilot gives a sh$t about the jumpers and flies his plane for the jumpers. Empuria is a super cool place to visit too. I'm sure if you email the Babylon guys and ask, coaching might be possible too, so you can make the most of the extra altitude. Head Up aka Fat Leigh, stop advertising for Tim Porter and get back to jumping! Where you training big man?
  10. Spot on! Too many people good at marketing themselves and getting good on other people's ££'s. I appreciate sometimes its a question of accessibility and availability to the good coaches. A lesser coach will be able to pass on certain skills and be more accessible and therefore beneficial to a paying customer. Also, everyone has had to learn to get to a certain level. However some people advertising "camps" have very limited experience and are using the student to gain tunnel time and improve their own skills before actually paying some of their own cash to invest in themselves and acquire the required skills. The toughest situation is finding out the coaches levels in the first place. Word of mouth helps, but seeing people fly and how they coach is the best way. I remember being recommended Fabian and then him recommending me Joao (when he was unavailable) a few years ago.... initially I thought it was just someone recommending a friend from the local DZ. (how wrong I was!) As it turns out they were super good and are two of the best tunnel flyers out there. As it turns out they were both very good at coaching too…. How a coach interacts with the student is also important. Some people are fantastic at breaking skills down and communicating them to the student. That said, I believe you have to know how to fly in the first place before being able to form an opinion why to fly certain ways….. and therefore how to teach….. Bedford and Airkix have some good tunnel coaches aswell as visiting external people. There are also good freefly teams visiting the tunnels which have started to fly in the tunnel. Some, not all, will definitely be able to provide excellent tuition.
  11. Anyone know who does the electro-house track in the virtus movie 2.53 into the movie? Some people had it in Voss but I forgot to ask......
  12. Nice Video from Mikey again, but why was there no vibes being gathered and footage of you monkeys doing it?? Have a word with clown feet Andy.
  13. Last time I spoke to one of the guys who is involved, he said it is not currently open. Not sure if issues have been resolved yet, but unfortunately I would think that means the status is still the same. You seen the demo DVD? It kicks arse. I would love to jump there and check the place out.
  14. You should get back to work before I tell Matt you are posting on Web Pages!!! Yeah, it was super slow, but that is normal with large formation loads. Also, there was a little extra stress with the Beech and what was going on, but c'est la vie. Normally langar send the loads, I would imagine it was just because there were so many people around and the big way people needed some extra time. The skyvans were also relative slow getting to altitude, so as there is some sort of limitation to take offs and number of planes in the sky, that would have slowed it down too. Matt..... Joni's on the internet and not working!
  15. Don't confuse ability with being in a team and playing the game of competition - ie. putting together a routine and playing to the rules etc... The Freejive boys are bad ass flyers. Tim Porter is one of the best camera men in the world. His footage is very very distintive and he's all over it. Rob has been freeflying for years and is super super good. However, with regards to entering the nationals, alot of time $$$ has to be spent on training and putting things together. It's pretty hard to get everyone in the same space and time frame to do this. Probably one of the reasons teams can't always compete. As I mentioned before, it would have been great to have them compete, but I think they would have been hard pushed to have beaten Out Break. Only my opinion, but if you speak to them, they might share similar opinions As for flying clean... that's when it looks super slick and not raw and shabby - well refined is what I am trying to say. And good skills on noticing "The Freefly School for Freeflyers that Don't Fly so Good", they must have trained pretty hard!!!!!
  16. That's not what the 2/3's of Freejive guys have said... It would have been super cool have Freejive compete too, but Outbreak have done very well over the last few years and been training hard. They produced some very nice moves, flying super clean. 6th at the Worlds, best UK result I have heard of for a long time. Very respectable indeed. Look at the scores and the people that placed around them. Definately the best 'team' in the UK won the nationals this year. (sounds like an obvious comment, but hopefully you know what I mean)
  17. Sounds like a good plan until you take your rig through, get stopped by someone who thinks they know everything but doesn't and in light of recent times decides to do what ever they want. I always used to take rig as hand luggage, in a bag, low profile, so that when I arrived I would always have my rig to jump. However, after being stopped 6 months ago, being told that I must have compressed gas in the rig and then it was the airlines policy to no allow the rig as checked luggage or hand luggage I have always checked it. No matter what you say or how truthful it is, pig headed security people (who also have a very hard job to do) are difficult to persuade. I had to phone the airline head office to get clearance to check the rig!!! My advice, hard case or good soft bag, check the rig and take as much clothing as hand luggage. Just my opinion, but until you have a bad experience you may disgaree!
  18. Can you PM or post costs for entering again mate. There is a post somewhere but if you can repost in the thread that would be great. Thanks.
  19. Can someone PM or post the telephone number for Kathy or Rob of Morpheus Technologies. I have been calling the number from the web page but keep getting a health care place?? Not sure if the phones are up the creek or the number is just wrong!?!? Thanks
  20. Which tunnel are you referring to? Where is the competition being held?
  21. If you can get through x-ray and have a discreet bag like you mention, then all is good. But if one of the x-ray dudes decideds to say open that bag, I reckon you will be screwed. The first guy was cool, but once they start chatting and calling people it is pretty much game over. I wasn't suppose to check it in either, but tried to blagg it by saying it was just too big and could I check it in with my other stuff. Then got busted again, and had to plead. If you fly with Ryanair, small hard case for checking rig. Make sure you are under the weight limit and then use up the 15kg of hand lugagge. I think some other BRits got turned away, as they weren't as lucky as me. I got an employee to call Dublin to ok it. Until that point it was 30 mins of "no way is that coming onboard". Check it, smile, move on to security. Job done. I know the bags may not turn up, but compared to someone actually having a good chance of looking at it during X-Ray, I think it is the best option. It would seem that getting your bags checked in would proceed then worry where they end up. You got to check them to have the chance of having them get lost. Just my opinon though
  22. Yep, I hear you. But then, I would like to get on the flight first and then just hope my bags are going to make it!!! When I was stopped I though it was cavity search time!! Then I started to really worry that 1. I wouldn't be able to take my rig at all (wasn't allowed to check it!) 2. I wouldn't be on the flight
