  1. Well, you tried, it didn't even last one post. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  4. And we all know there is so much - so close to Cal City! Get the directions to their "California City" skydiving. I can see it now: "Turn right, onto the SR58, to Rte 5 ...then it's only a simple drive (leaving OUT +/- 200 or so miles) to exit blah-blah, and follow the skydiving signs at the bottom of the exit. We're right off the highway". Friggen Skyride strikes again. Yep. Skyride, and every one of their defenders said they turned a new page. In the AFF Exit I see Fort Campbell under them, that is on the TN KY border. Any who still work for their DZ's and company, are still criminal, IMO. DZO's who still use their service as well. 5. Would there be so many posts if people didn't thread so much? Well, they do need to stitch together a pattern for their argument. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  7. Come on Jo, over half of the "book" references are responses to others, and of the ones he makes, most are in reference, not promotion. You "promote" your story harder than any one else here. You, and a few others, attack experts in their fields, since it won't line up and support your promotion effort for your story. If you, and others, don't want our opinions, based on the science and facts we know to be true in our fields, don't come here and ask us for help. Disrespect DZ? Hmm, a skydivers web site, a thread, that had little to do with skydiving, but lots to do with crime is started, and the skydivers who frequent a skydivers web site, get poo pooed? Odd. 8. Isn't that kid of like what USAFA does? Back on topic, an old Paratrooper or a pilot who did have at least minimal training could explain the chute choices. But we already hashed this out. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. Matt, just to be clear about this: one of Jo's complaints has been she could not get all of Duane's "records", whatever "all" means. As a former spouse, can she get "all of" Duane's military records? Maybe you could clarify that for her ... As his widow, she would fall under the "next of Kin" clause. Matt "Next of kin" is a living blood relative, are you sure she would fall under this clause? you would think a box for Spouse/Husband would apply? Once I was married, JAG had me put my wife on all my SF/DD/DA forms as she was now my immediate "Kin". But to be sure, I called Fort Campbell's JAG and asked, Jo qualifies as his widow. "Next of kin refers to the nearest blood relatives of a person who has died, including the surviving spouse." http://definitions.uslegal.com/n/next-of-kin/ ^ since not every one can open the .mil links, I attached a open source. 11. Or if you read section 3, an authorized authority. So LEO's, City HR, some PI's, etc, can get a copy. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. The level of classification has been addressed. That is not normally applied to a record of one serving. But to add, one can get records through a request process, a SF form is filled out sent in and then you wait. Records for personal will "usually" be limited to duration and locations of service, awards, campaigns, and promotions, etc, actual duty details will be lacking. My 21 years fits on to a two part DD-214, just hits the highlights. Doesn't even include my 225 SL and 3000+ FF Jumps (or test jumps for Development), just says Master Parachutist Badge, and list graduations of the supporting Courses. Today, what Duane did (Fraudulent Enlistment), would be near impossible. Back when he did it, easier of course, he lied, simple. He went to a enlistment office not associated with the Navy one, and tried the Army, they needed warm bodies, he was asked simple questions gave simple lies, and enlisted. The back ground checks (finger prints, criminal record, civil issues, etc) would be done by hand, and if even one digit of a ssn or spelling of a name, is off, he could get away with it. He would have been treated just like any other boot recruit, sworn in, shipped off to Basic, and upon completion then off to AIT. Some where along that time he got caught as a Fraudulent Enlistee and got put out. And looking at his brief Navy and Army time, and records, he received no Parachute Training in either, as well as actual Chemical Warfare (beyond the general basic stuff all SM's got and still get in Basic and recert on annually). 13. Damnit! Not true! The "were" part... And sometimes the "fe" part ! Um. Not really, Mr Mysogynistic. who are those woman supposed to be in the picture? USAF F-15 Pilots stationed with a Wing out of Alaska. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. You have completely wondered off of the subject. Refresher: KC sends a letter, in it he makes the $150 statement. A question was asked about the Jump Pay, I posted a fact, you "poo pooed" it. Then posted a pay chart with out Jump Pay listed. While complaining about not having "links" to the fact, you post a link to no fact. I posted a link, backing the fact, to appease you, but you decided to try and use the pay chart for a different reason. The question was: What was Jump pay in 1946? The answer was given, that should have been the end of it. The info was asked for to verify the validity of the letter quoted. Nothing more. Maybe you can stop with the high brow PA's (and direct childish ones too) and just stick to factual discussion for a while? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. Your link only goes back to 1949, and does not show "Jump Pay" http://users.skynet.be/101airborne/clancy/506hist_us.html The above link has the $50 a month for Jump pay at that time. Self deluded? How about EXPERT in the field, certified as a MASTER PARACHUTIST, Actually. I taught (Including History) and performed the job for over 21 years. 16. KC states that the jump was "worth $150". This presumably would be military jump pay. Does anyone know how the jump pay worked in 1946? How many jumps did he have to make to receive it? Is jump pay based on making a certain number of jumps per month? Or per quarter? And I assume it was paid at a fixed rate each month. Robert99 Back then, it was $50 a month for Enlisted and $100 a month for Commissioned Officers, IIRC. Now it is $150 a month for both. The quote, seems to refer to making a jump once every three months (reg is actually 90 days), the requirement to stay on status. So he would be an enlisted man, making one jump every 90 days. Other than letters, did the records show up? The pics from earlier would not have been of a Paratrooper. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. I still don't recall it ever being proven KC WAS trained as a Paratrooper. I asked for this several pages back, I don't recall ever seeing it addressed. I know It is not your job to prove it, but maybe you saw it if it was posted? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  19. Some times during my 21+ years in the Army I didn't wear my uniform, and dressed, and acted, very different than the "norm", as it was part of what my "mission" was at the time. Even today, working in the Private Security field, I some times dress and act differently than what people think, again, it is part of the "mission". 20. Just saw that. They reported it would not be in the publics best interest to bust him. If we turn hi cap mags into art work or sculpture near DC would we get busted? Just wondering about free speech. Since those calling for Mr.Gregory to be charged used the arrest of a service member as their example, what is the status and background in that case? and if they are similar why the different standards of enforcement? 21. Jumpers like to bitch about things non jumpers do (such as paying child support and staying sober). Jumpers really go nuts when non jumpers opine about anything related to jumping. Most of the people here aren't jumpers, and we are opining daily about jump related stuff, so ths forum is a target for negative comments and complaints. Just get used to it and thank Q for not acceeding to those who want to quash this forum. I cant take any complaints about forum posting volume seriously. It's so easily ignored, bandwidth isnt an issue for text posts and frequent forum posting doesn't overheat or lock up any high quality server chips (because Snow designed them). 377 I would love to kidnap every non jumper who posts to this thread and put them in a nice big safe rig with a huge parachute.... for a frakin reality check.... BUT... there are not enough adult depends in Washington State for what should have been a fun event like that. I'll AJ for you on this! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 22. ^ So far, that is the only honest perspective on the poll results. The result is "Yes", if one whats to say the "No Opinion" votes need to be "No" votes, the same argument can be used as "Yes" votes. Reality is the only ones that count are "Yes" or "No", "Yes" won. Apathy, is a vote for the one vote majority. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. I guess Fox didn't get the memo on the CT shooter NOT using the Bushmaster in the School. So it appears the punishments for the Straw Purchaser should be higher. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
