  1. I have the honor of being a former team mate of one of these jumpers. The whole team is a class act and highly skilled. Demo jumps into stadiums always had my heart rate up, but damn are they fun! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. He had not come right out and said it ... but I was just this { } close... a skosh more an I would have made it. The list is short. But those on it are of a rare breed! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. I'm not touching that line. At least not till she gives you permission to do so! Sweet R6 Nat! Keep the rubber side down! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. Really Bruce? I was trying to give ya the benefit of doubt regarding the issue of your ethics in journalism...but I think you're way off base if that's how you really feel. A civil servant has just as much right to privacy as any 'normal' citizen...a RETIRED one so much the more. Brings to mind the discussions about Neal Armstrong - Journalists always pined that 'we taxpayers' spent a pretty shiny dime sending him to the moon, he OWES us and the American people interviews, access, autographs...on & on. Well...NO he did NOT. He was simply a man hired o do a job, nowhere in the job description did it say anything about 'owing reporters' access to his life ~ ESPECIALLY during retirement. Your thinking on this is rather convoluted, and what's REALLY scary is you don't seem to know it. The pen is a pretty mighty tool. Thing is, like any tool it can be used to build or tear down. When you attempt to use it for retribution against someone merely wishing to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed rights...that's crossing a line of both ethics & decency. Your comment surprises me, and not in a good way. I urge you to reconsider that line of thinking.
  5. Georger that is a cheap SHOT! Perhaps your memory needs a little tweeking: 1. I retired from real estate in 2004. 2. I kept the my [email protected] because I hold an inactive license and will activate it to sell my own home. Due to my abilities to sell - I cannot NOT pay someone a 7% commission to sell my house. NO realtor is worth 7% & I have willing independent brokers who would allow me to do this. I keep my continueing education credits current just for this purpose. In exchange I will offer any listing I might obtain to a co-worker. 3. Because my email address was a first of its kind and byjo is an ex-pression - I chose to keep it until the day I no longer own a home or have a need to sell my home. 4. Therefore I am not quilty of what you are saying. Strickly an email address and not a promotion of any kind. 5. I worked for the chains and do NOT hold a brokers license. ME THINKS you need to make postings about things you know something about - it is evident you know nothing about me or about real estate laws. NOW - Georger repeat after me "I Georger will stay on topic and not speak of things I have no knowledge of ". That last line, good idea all around. 6. Nothing POPPED! I was what he said himself when he realized what he had just said to me. "That's were Cooper walked out of the Woods" I said "How would you know that" He said "Maybe I was the man on the Ground". That is where that story came from and it is NOT made up but given to the FBI in my first interview and stated multiple time to Mr. H. You've contradicted yourself Jo. Duane wasn't "Cooper", he was a petty thief and con man, his final con is still playing out. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  7. http://www.caravan-ny.com/parachute_troop.html So, it isn't a PEP (Pilot Ejection Parachute), and is more than likely, a cargo. A very high probability it is NOT Coopers chute. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. Yep, 1950's was the "A" model, they ran all the way up to "D" model and now the T-11 is being fielded. So, can we all stop talking about a cargo chute found in Amboy? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. Some one trained in freefall jumps, stationed in, or from the region (and currently back in it, to acclimate like you mentioned). I think there is a good chance there might be a few layers under the suit, so the weather might not have been as tough on him. Some one with a knowledge of survival skills, and a healthy respect for the environment. One with a plan and a few plan B's as well. Not some one who "wings it" and hopes luck will win out. 10. May 29, 2008 Larry Carr posted this: The agent who originally interviewed Cossey mistakenly reported it was sewn shut. it was not sewn shut, the canopy was cut in half and the panels then sewn together. This was done so that when students practiced deploying the emergency canopy they could easily gather it and quickly stuff it back in the container for another practice throw. Anyone with any amount of experience would have know the x's on the container meant, "you might not want to use this one when jumping out of a plane." Also, when he picked it up it would have been very obvious, if you have any amount of experience, (by that I mean how tight containers are packed) that something was wrong because it would have been "squishy" (not my word but from someone who would know what the belly reserve would have felt like). If he deployed it, it would have been like one of those guns you pull the trigger and a flag comes out of the barrel that says, "bang." Yep, used as an emergency procedures (EP's) trainer it would have felt "squishy" as there is less material in the dummy to facilitate quicker re-packing. A lot of things besides the equipment came from the military and transferred over to the civilian world, the "X" marking and/or the color red denotes "danger: do not use" in pretty much ALL military training. So, it looks like we are back to some one having some sort of training, a "formalized" type of training, not some osmosis or fantasy type. The freefall rigs, "back rigs" of the type used, IIRC, weren't used by any military static line parachutists, or smoke jumpers in 40's, 50's, or 60's. Pilots, SERE-I's, SOF or CIA types, yes. An exception might be the Paratrooper's JM's or Safeties, but other than a cursory "here is the handles" briefing, they typically didn't get any true training on those types of rigs. So, IMO, a jumper not in the proper military categories would HAVE to be trained by a skydiver versed in and using the surplus equipment. If a suspect doesn't fall into one of those categories, IMO, they aren't a suspect, this is an era before youtube after all. Until KC and DW can be placed in those training scenarios (being trained, not spectating or running errands), they aren't viable suspects. They would then have to be placed on the plane, and actually match a suspect description. So far, 0 for 3, on both. I personally think the person who did this is on the periphery of the SOG/CIA project, but not necessarily one of the JM's or actual test jumpers. This Sheridan cat, or one like him, seems a better suspect. Again, in my opinion. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  11. Typically, Dummy chutes, actually a dummy container, do not have a parachute in them. The chute is to valuable a tool to be kept from use, either as a functioning canopy, or as a trainer, for things like packing, landing recovery, or water training, etc. When a container is used in this manner (as a dummy), and sewn shut, it is usually filled with discards, old ponchos, blankets, pillows, clothes, what ever gives it the right bulk. Since these are also former Military Items, rigged by some one with the same experiences, I would theorize there wasn't a parachute canopy in the dummy rig. Of course the owner of the dummy rig is the only one that can confirm this apparently. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. It could have ended up there just like the AF says, one of the many lost after cargo drops over the many years in that area. The load could have been recovered, the chute left at the drop zone and later blows away, gets buried by snow, mud, what ever over the years. We some times lost T-10's and the occasional cargo chute on training jumps, it happens. It was 34', and the wrong material, so not much point in rehashing it anymore. The riggers logs show the two back chutes not to be 34'. Size does matter in this case. Matt Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  13. Jo' PS or Corrections to post I SUPPOSEDLY made - MatthewCline inserted something into my post I did NOT say! I have removed it as I would NOT want anyone to think I said that! Nice conspiracy, but I made my comments in bold if they happened to be in a post you made, that I quoted your entire posts. I don't expect your apology, but would accept it. Matt GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE POST I HAD TO REMOVE "YOUR STATEMENT" FROM! NO APOLOGY AT ALL - I KNOW WHAT YOU DID! IT WAS JUST THE FIRST ONE I CORRECTED! What one? The one you wrote? the one I quoted? the one you edited to remove the quote? I'll standby Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. " "The F-106 drivers never saw him,'' Rataczak said. "It was blacker than the ace of spades out there. They just saw a flash of light from us and then he just vanished..." (my underline) " Is there a debrief of those F-106 drivers available? This quote alone, an expert, discussing experts, refutes the "seen from the ground" stories, aside from real world experiences of course. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 16. Not trying to inflame you at all, but apparently that is easy to do, reread my statement. Because, I was here, before you even REGISTERED. Now let's get back to "Cooper", we still don't have a viable suspect. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. THAT part of your POST sums U up! YOU could care less about solving the case - yours is a search to find a suspect YOU think might be Cooper! You have neither the means nor the investigative skills to GO out and FIND a SUSPECT! HOPE U are REAL PROUD of the statement you made above - remember it is narrow minds and posters like yourself that keep the thread from progressing. WHAT have YOU in the time YOU have been on THIS thread been able to produce that was PRODUCTIVE in that goal? NOTHING - so the only things you say - mimic others and demean others. WHAT productive information have YOU offered to the thread? If you have productive information and investigations- post it! Other WISE STOP demeaning those who have put their hearts and souls and time for many yrs into this You are just someone passing thru who has nothing to offer other than trite and demeaning remarks attacking other posters who struggle to present their subject the best they can. YOUR claims of outing others is UNCALLED for. When you come to my home as others have done and look at & read the early letters and notes in pages of planners then you can make the kind of postings you made - claiming the old woman took information from another source. When YOU realize the old woman you attack - actually did the things she said and actually told the things she said - she did all of it in real time and without having read them somewhere, but having real knowledge of said things. COME & READ my notes and my letters and my notes from phone conversations and know NOTHING was contrived or taken from the story of others. Many times I explored what OTHERS claimed, but did my own investigated into the subject or story and often took a few steps into their territory - BUT, my REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE was always there waiting for my retreat BACK to that which I did know! I know I wrote down in my planner when that book arrived - it was sent to me - BECAUSE the stories I was tellling appeared similar to the stories I told about Weber. It was Mr. H who asked me if I had ever read it. It would be several months later before I was sent a COPY of it.....I saw the similarities, but not the same....that is when I started to investigate the BOOK - I had to know who wrote the book! I felt who ever wrote that BOOK knew Duane or had some kind of access. I have already stated the things I read and if I was aware f them before or after I read the book. My research NEVER led me to the writer/author! I wanted to know who did the charicatures - never found out. I still want to meet the person who wrote the book - but that person is probably deceased. MOST of the BOOK was FICTION, but there was sprinkling of things - things that I knew about Duane Weber - things that made me reason - if he wasn't Cooper he knew who wrote that book. I remembered a woman who was at the shop - she was stout and wore a business suit and her hair was dyed dark. She knew Duane from the past. This was NO ordinary woman - she was polished. I was on my way to an appt and didn't even have time to do more than say hello & how do you do, nice meeting you and I got to go. She was introduce as Fucks - HOW can I ever forget that name! Duane worked for a man by the name of Fucks. Duane dated a woman by the name of Fucks. So - is it just coincidence or did it mean something. NOW I didn't make any of that UP. < Seriously? My investigative skills have helped to clear a dozen cases involving drugs, murder, theft, fraud, and domestic assaults. All in the last few months (4). I think you're mistaken on a few definitions on words you keep using. Actually, I do believe, IIRC, the FBI eliminated Duane Weber as a Suspect (and K.C., as well as Sherridan, to be fair). So, I didn't place myself in any position of Jury or Judge. I have read both the "Cooper" threads entirely, and we see no new evidence for ANY of the suspects. I've been on this sight longer than you, have actually jumped from the type of A/C, with similar equipment, and met many of the heroes who preceded me in the field of Military Parachuting and Skydiving. All point to the same conclusion, as the FBI, the suspect isn't, here. The FBI says the case is still open, not solved, and there is no new evidence, or theories, to re-examine any of the previously eliminated suspects. You're probably one of the biggest distractions to this case being solved. At least by the amateur sleuths. If any one is being a bully or hard headed, I would say the legal definitions fit you far better. If you just want to know about Daune Weber, before you knew him, that is fine, I don't fully understand why, but you have your reasons I'm sure, and that is just fine. But, this group of people, and this forum, aren't the place for that. Your family, and your close friends, that would be the better fit for that. I did notice you didn't address any actual qualifications or acknowledge that I answered ALL your questions. Just attacked me, because I do not support your theory. Goes along the lines of what Robert points out, attack the messenger and not the message. Now, since I am so hated by you, maybe you'll stop with the PM's? If there is anything factual and relevant to the case you wish to discuss, do it here, in the open. No more "secrets", no more "set ups", and no more "stories for bait". You have shown that you actually have far more net access than you want us to know. Use that, and find the answers you seek. You don't need to try and demand we do your research, or bidding. Good luck. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Do NOT demean me NOT until you see and read my notes and letters and communications from 1996 until 2003+ YOU set yourself up as JUDGE and JUROR and you do NOT know me! 20. Blevins, You obviously didn't bother to read the post that I quoted and to which I was replying. Your "so what" above brings up the obvious question of why you even replied to my post in the first place? Or was it just another of your knee-jerk replies to keep up your pretense of being a "leading Cooper researcher"? Confidentiality Agreements to cover up your own demonstrated incompetence with the KC book? That's the best laugh I have had since lunch. How much of your forthcoming "Cooperland" masterpiece will you be stealing from DZ and the other posters on this thread? Just asking. Robert99 he also uses the excuse of not trusting people. this has nothing to do with trusting people on this thread. it's a question asked by people who expect answers. it doesn't make sense. He uses the "source please" every time something comes into question, but ask him about something and it turns into a trust issue. the trust is not in the question asked by someone, it's in the answer! that's trust. Reality Hotel insert thingy This is a public forum. You may not believe it, but MOST people who ask me for this or that go through my email. They don't ask me to post everything up publicly just so THEY can read it here. The confidentiality agreement isn't official. If you are requesting something, then all I ask is for you to put your true name and contact info into the main body of the message and then say you won't post any part of our email communications publicly on the internet. Then...if you do...I just put your email address on the spam list and leave it at that...and then post up your promise online that came with your email request to show publicly you are a liar. Which would also have your contact info. I would not do this at Dropzone, of course, (it's against the rules) but elsewhere. That is MORE than fair. It also keeps people honest. Sent to Mitchell: Four pictures and a cover letter. The cover discusses the DB Cooper page at AB and where he can look at the KC report. The fix on the house price is a minor thing and I will get around to it as soon as Webs.com fixes our little access problem. In the cover letter I did not tell Mitchell that KC paid cash-in-full for the house. Mainly it was a request to examine pictures anyway. Pictures have captions and notes on the back. Stick to the topic then. As you say, per the forum rules you know. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  24. In WWII most individual equipment was not lowered on a "Lowering Line", heavier and bulky items did get lowered. So a Pistol, or Carbine, and their ammo, water grenades, small packs, etc, stayed with them. Mortars, crew served Machine guns, large packs, etc, got lowered on a rope device called the "lowering line". Not every one rigged their gear for lowering then, as they do ow, but every one did get taught how to do it, in case the next jump you had the heavy stuff. But there would be plenty of experienced Paratroopers around to help you. Paratroopers then, and still today, jump into a fight prepared to operate for no less than 48 hours without relief or re-supply. So yes, an individual may need assistance to get in the old Gooney Birds. All Paratroopers are taught to put gear on "tight", then, after we graduate Airborne School we all think we have a better idea and put it on a little looser, then we try that, see it doesn't work as well, and go back to doing it the right way, usually within a jump or two. If Cooper was a Paratrooper (experienced) and not just qualified (not experienced, just a school house graduate), he would go with that experience, and the money bag would have been on as snug as he could bear, and as it is a small bundle, coupled the terrain he was jumping into, most likely not rigged to be lowered. I'm not advocating anyone's suspect, but I think this would actually eliminate a few of the more common ones tossed out in this thread. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. I don't think that's how it's done...LMAO yep, Cooper died all right... that scenario would probably make the harness fail and kill or severely injure the jumper... hangdiver Yes, Robert has the scenario bassackwards on how it is actually taught, and how the experienced, and not so experienced, actually do equipment jumps. "Tight ,is right" Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
