  1. Hey Four Generals! It's the Joint Chiefs!

I am not a Kerry fan, but I see the quote for what it was, a failed joke, or at least poorly delivered. So Jay and Conan have nothing to fear from him.

  3. I am not an "old timer" but I can help.
It will require a personal visit and a few "training aides";)

    As to the original idea.

Bring him out to the DZ show him some of the history from rounds to squares. You may even find a few who jumped in the military after he did and can have an impromtue history lesson. It will show some of the younger jumpers where alot of this skydiving stuff came from and the history of parachuting in general.

  4. I wear the shades on Tandems and Solo's.

The Tandem is not "my" skydive and in the video they don't need to see my "understanding" but the Students fun and understanding.

Solo's, well shit it is a solo!

For Coach, AFF, RW (small and large) clear lensed Factory Diver in custom blue base and flames paint job! (I wonder where the idea hit me? Opa.. Opee.. some dude in Bama had a helmet and..)

  5. Yes he does!

I just ordered a Slow Slow suit for light weight AFF's, Coach Students and some tandem use (extra arm material and the booties create a lot of flying power when a tandem Student gets exited, though I normally just use the legs any way).

So now I have a nylon Comp suit, suplex Tetris with spandex forearms, a suplex Comp with spandex forearms and soon a suplex tetris with built in "sleeves" for a slow fall rate.

I have a rang of 125 to 150 mph in the nylon wit hout arching too hard (fairly firm though)

120 to 140~ in the suplex and spandex arms.

110 to 130 in the Team Tetris with sleeves I already have. The new Sleeved model will be slower as it will have a little more sleeve.

If that doesn't cover it there is also the freefly jacket on top or the baggy sweet shirt!;)

  6. We ( T-I's in general) have used "Y" straps for specific students when needed, so I see no reason not to allow T-Is to use this on all jumps if they want. But I would really prefer the T-I's adjusted the harness correctly and not have to rely on an additional strap of webbing to avoid another big negative press release!

If a T-I is looking at these post and is confused on proper adjustments they need to ask around and get educated!

  7. Looking at a coupleof photos the hip junction is in the arm pit of the student! As well as other misadjusted portions.

The requirements to be a T-I are reasonable (I think), hard enough to not allow any one a rating but still realistically obtainable.

WE need to do better at policing our selves and enforcing the rules before the FAA or some other source steps in.

  8. Distance at opening is the right as usual Prof.

I guess that is where we use SWAG.;)

Between you and I we have experience and can teach all the "tricks" to our students, as this discussion is proving (to me at least) that there is no exact science to it, but some good scientific applications.

I think I actually agree with you and Billvon, but must be missing how to state it right now.

  9. The only issue with using a count is that "time" is not a guarantee of separation. Distance is though.

I don't dispute Bill or Kallend's knowledge and expertise just posting a tag along to their discussion.

  10. If it was an airshow you probably got a shot of the Intentional cut away.

The GK system for the Cut away had a way t orelease each riser indibently of the standard cut away, it could give the impression of the wich ever side is released having broken lines.

A fun show none the less.

  11. Ooops:$.

Well they did well anyway, the GK-Black. Why GK-Black? They didn't have a GK-Gold this year as well, did they?

I think they did well none the less, after all Eric was coaching as well as competing, they only had 30-ish jumps before Nats, they had to arrive from 2 different states and meet in AZ, Oh! and next year my prediction will be true- GK Gets GOLD!

    Ok 8-way here we go!

  12. I am more of a almond nut myself, no piddly peanut.

I think the GK squad has the experience to move forward as they warm up. Remember they have had little team training (two weeks or so in Yuma and 2 weeks just before CISM?) and the CISM was a different format.

Next year they get Gold and go to Worlds! There a bottle of Baileys on it. (you know the ittty bitty ones at the shopette:P)

My guess on the US Nats= GK Black gets silver.

  14. I am not SF, but I used a lip stick camera and fanny pack recorder in Iraq and recently we did the same for the NFL network when the Titans came and did PT with us (we had 2 helmets and Optik and an ACH).

The ACH in Iraq we just put longer screws in the helmet where the chin strap mounts and the camera was right at eye level on the left side. A few small zip ties through the helmet cover added a little security and helped in alignment, it also helped to rout the cable to the center of the back of the helmet. The cable connection was on the fanny pack and was standard plug in out style so it would release if need be in a hurry.

It was rigged a bit funky but worked. The fanny pack was mounted on the back of the IBA above the spare ammo/ordinance and below the extraction handle.

  15. And in special circumstances the Safety would wear a T-10, and T-10R with ruck and weapon, and jump too!

Being a JM in the 82nd, where most of the jumps where mass exit and they all left in 1 or 2 passes, wasn't to bad. Then came the day you got one of those small DZ's and only 10 to 12 could get out of the C-141 with 180 jumpers on board (like Postage Stamp or Grenada DZ's).

  16. I used to be "Dad" to my daughter.

Now, since she can walk, talk, tie her own shoes, cook a meal and use a computer as well as me (maybe better) and out play me in a video game, and starting to really notice and like boys, I am

    "You just don't understand."

I guess when I walk her down the isle it will change again,

    "The guy signing the check"

    But I love her!

    That is all.
