  1. We took a P124 and changed the lines and jumped it as a main a few years back, using a Raven main lineset and it performed just like the Raven. The only difference as I remember was the trim and the steering.

I'm with Lee about the C-9 canopy. LSI( who I work for) manufactures and sells a complete BA-22 system and after packing some for a customer they are the proverbial brick shit house in construction and the designer definitely was ahead of his time. Guess thats why they were used in ejection seats for so long. The Navys Thin pack canopy is close as a new design but it may be a moot point once the pilot is removed from the plane.

  2. Mine has an air solenoid to actuate the forward and reverse and another for the presser foot lift. This was done in house by the mechanics from Mills Mfg. There the girls could run a 4 point pattern as fast as a directron. Four machines working sounds like a machine gun nest.

  3. Dave Davenport was the owner and designer of FTS building the Rascals,Lasers and Bogeys in 5, 7,8 and 9 cells. Mains and reserves in Alpherreta Ga. He became a ward of the state and Bob Chafin moved it to Texas. The 8 cell was a 254 sq ft that was a great flying canopy for the time.

  4. Ok this should be ok with all the by the book riggers in the crowd to get some extra padding in your legpads without violating anyones ideas of TSO protocal or scabbing on another pad that looks like a shoemaker did it. Find some 1/4" foam rubber and measure the distance between the binding of the leg padsthen measure the distance between the stitching across the legstrap webbing which holds the leg pad to the leg strap. Cut the foam 1/4-1/2 inch smaller.Fold the foam in half lengthwise and slide it between the pad and the legstrap (Fun Part) even it out making it nice and smooth and make sure its under the legstrap. No sewing no TSO violation (like the leg straps could affect the way the containers work) and happy legs. I've used this with polystyrene foam to Poron foam like they use in the MC-4s and military rigs.I usually sew it in but being a master rigger has it bennies.

  5. With a bunch of us admiring the new rig, the owner having jumped it thru a repack cycle, she pulled the chest reserve and we pulled it out on the table for the inspection to find the canopy had never been hooked to the risers. Talk about some shocked folks.Certainly made an impression on this young rigger.

  6. I would have to question the user who would accept this kind of work. This is where the training needs to be done. This rig is going on their back and its their life on the line to know what quality work looks like. I guess everyones rig on this DZ looks like this? Sure the rigger is derlict to put out such shitty work but if the user had watched a pack job and questioned the process this rigger would be out of business.

  7. Simula got bought by Armour Holdings who got bought by BAE, Since the Navy owns the drawings they are doing the 5 year repacks at China Lake so I would guess the spare parts and E2C stuff is coming from BAE.

  8. I packed many of the early E2Cs for the Navy to test while working for SEI in Asheville. Made a few jumps on the Thin Packs the Navy put in the P-3 Orions. Great Gig till Simula pulled the plug.We did deliver the Navy around 6000 rigs.
