What makes a good person (can people change?)
windcatcher replied to WrongWay's topic in The Bonfire
I used to be pretty mean when I was younger, and that's because I suffered a lot of pain. ANYBODY can change the way they've lived their life in the past...but it's pretty hard to do by yourself. Surrounding yourself with compassionate, giving people will help you become a better person, but ultimately you are responcible for how you live your life. We all have a free will and choose every day what attitude we are gonna take on. And yes, if it was in someone's nature once to be a killer, liar, cheater, etc, they can change with God's help. First of all, I have no idea what an Avaitar is, except it's a little picture you can post underneath your user name, right? I have never posted pics here before, so please tell me how. I know how to post one in my personal gallery, but how do I post it so it'll be underneath my name w/ my skydive info? I know, I know, I'm not completely computer-literate yet! Neon Yellow?? Sorry, I can't wear that color up in the air, it'll make my butt look big! HAHAHAH!!! J/K, being a girl at the dz is funny sometimes... one time as a tandem passenger, I asked "Does this rig make my butt look big"? Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

Guys I need some advice... though I am not yet an experienced jumper, I was gonna buy myself a nice jumpsuit for my 22nd birthday next month. What kind do you suggest I buy? (And don't give me any crap about how I should wait till I'm more experienced, because I hate student jumpsuits...they are very uncomfortable and unflattering!) My goal is freeflying, but since that's way in the future, should I just get a regular, fitted jumpsuit? Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

A week after my 18th birthday... now that I am almost 22 in Sept. and only have 10 jumps so far, you can tell I aint no sugar mama.... ah well, 2 more yrs. of college, then I'm moving to Florida, getting a REAL job, and I'll be able to jump all the time... ah,the young, single life...no kids, no husband, no rent or taxes FREEDOM!!!! I was all lined up to go for the first time, no-work, money to spend, scheduled to volunteer...but no ride!!! Nobody from our dz wanted to go I guess...? Anyways, next year I'll be able to jump AND volunteer. WFFC 2005 awaits... Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

Hey Dan- I first experienced this sport 3 years ago, and it's looking like this is the year I will get my A license. The point is, I didn't give up, and my passion just grew stronger for the sport, because being away from it yet longing to jump, makes me appreciate every jump I make. I was gonna save up a couple thousand dollars and THEN start retraining, but I decided that I would much rather just start the sport right away and though I may progress slower without a whole lotta cash saved, at least I'll be able to make a few jumps a month until after college, when I meet a handsome pilot who'll pay for my jumps and I have a real job! Besides, maybe the time isn't right just yet; I know it's time for me to jump, when I was 18 I may have been a little too crazy to be around that many guys at the dz. Anyways, if you're supposed to jump it'll happen- don't let money be an obstacle in the way of your dreams. Blessings! Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

I think ANY girl would be crazy to quit jumping because of MEN!!! I mean, I have been sexually harassed before at work, but I wasn't gonna let the guy (my Supervisor!) make me quit because of his actions. And I wouldn't let any guy run me out of this sport...I'm in love! I think that the guys should be respectful of the women at the dz, and understand that some people are easily offended. And any guy OR girl that DOES put his/her foot in his/her mouth remember this simple tip: You can ALWAYS apologize! Would any guy be offended if I said skydiver guys are soooo hot!!! hehe Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

After skydiving culture, I FINALLY got to freefall!!!
windcatcher replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
So, after 3 yrs. of exposure to the skydiving world, 10 jumps, one freeflyer boyfriend (now ex), watching Fandango, Dropzone and Cutaway a dozen times, donning a closing-pin necklace, attending 2 boogies, posting on dz.com, getting excited in high school when I saw backpacks(they reminded me of rigs), falling in love with skydivers, staring at the sky and hypnotically being drawn to airplanes, sticking half my body out the window in someone's car driving 75 mph wanting to feel the wind, and singing "freefalling" everytime it came on the radio, I FINALLY made it to freefall!!! YIPEEEE!!! -

windcatcher replied to RevJim's topic in The Bonfire
I'm soooooooooooo sad... I won't be able to go to the WFFC... I was gonna volunteer and help out as much as possible, but I guess I'll hafta wait till next year. There was so many people from here and other places that I really wanted to meet, but it's not gonna happen till next year. Oh well, at least I get more $ for jumps, and I should have 50 by next year, so I will actually get to jump too!! I hope you guys all have fun! And be safe... Well, I do feel quite inadequate when it comes to canopy flying...that's why I was quite surprised when I saw the corn rushing up at me!!! I mean come on, I wasn't being cocky, I laughed my head off the WHOLE way out of the corn. For a student, it's pretty funny. I KNOW I have to learn more... So there! Hey guys- I know, I know, yet another post. I am trying to catch a ride to the WFFC on or around the 5th... Some guy from MN is driving, and I plan on going with him so far, but is there anybody else from South Dakota, MN, Nebraska, Iowa, etc that is going and could either give me a ride or possibly want to ride with us? Please let me know asap. Thanks! Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

So there I was, having completed two well done practice ripcord pulls, paying attention to how to learn to fly my canopy and as I listened to the radio instructions, I turned left and BAM! I flew right smack into the middle of a cornfield. I was like, "What the heck is this guy telling me?". Yes, I landed my canopy into 6 ft. tall corn! Hello! I think the ground guy overcorrected my turn a LITTLE bit. I was probably at least 20 feet in the field, and I didn't even know which direction to start walking to get out of there. So I learned my lesson: when in doubt, forget the instructor if you KNOW how to fly your canopy!!!! Just my little story from the weekend... Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

Hey Catfish hunter! I once dated a skydiver who was in his late 30's,I am in my early 20's. It was an awesome relationship, but things didn't work out due to long distance, other things, etc. He was a wonderful man,but I never wanted him to think I was immature, so I may have acted more serious around him than say, a guy my age. I still prefer older men, and I think age shouldn't matter, unless you are both pursuing opposite goals in life. I say go for it, because I want an older man, I understand what you may be going through. But beware, the young chick may be the fun-loving type who doesn't want to get tied down; either way, guard your heart with any woman. good luck! Help! Female without sense of direction!
windcatcher replied to windcatcher's topic in Safety and Training
Hey guys- I need your help. Pretty soon I will be flying my canopy w/o the radio. I still have a hard time with that whole base legs/downwind thing. Basically, when I fly my canopy, am I going to be aiming and flying it near my target, then flying away from it, then towards it again? I know it sounds silly, but I really have a hard time knowing south from north, etc, and I need some simple advice to know how to fly my canopy once it opens. Got some advice for a newbie? Wow! Sounds like you have some ambition! It sounds like fun, visiting dz's all over. Hopefully some day I can do the same! Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

windcatcher replied to windcatcher's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey Guys! I don't know if anyone here has mentioned the 4th of July weekend boogie in Luverne, Mn, so I thought that at least I would post it. The King Air is coming! Yay! Visit skydiveadventures.net for more info. Sarah Mother to the cutest little thing in the world... -
Yipeeee!!! I feel ya man! I am back home for the summer and I am FINALLY getting back in my static line progression; as a broke college student, I finally have SOME money to spend on jumps. Yay! May sure to save now and don't blow ALL your money at the DZ. Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...

bring the waterbed and we can fill it up w/air and jump on it! We used to do that when we were kids--waterbeds make great bouncy, trampolines!~ Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...
