This thread is about Russia, yes?
  2. Ken, The pilot crunched one wing, gear & engine. He may actually trade the attachment to you for a box of beer. John
  3. Presuming your motivation is to guard the engine controls, I had a nice device made for our 182E. It was light, strong, cosmetically nice and worked great! We didn't have an STC but ensured it could be removed in seconds if necessary with just a Phillips driver but never had to. We were ramp-checked more than once without problem by Transport Canada. I don't have any pictures, but I sold the plane to Darren at Skydive Big Sky in Innisfail. The plane was written off by one of their guys a couple of years back, but I think he still has the fuselage. If not, he probably still has the Tech Manuals which include diagrams of the part my AME manufactured and installed. Give him a shout. Regards John
  4. Rejecting a message because data overwhelmingly supports it? I thought that was the domain of conspiracy mongers.
  5. I'm of the opinion that none of Mr. Trump's feigned indignation has anything to do with a song, a flag, soldiers, and certainly not the black athletes. I'll get back to this. He is attempting to destroy your latest national health insurance program nicknamed after his predecessor not because he thinks it's faulty - he just wants to eliminate all record of a man who publicly made fun of him at the WH correspondents dinner. He fired the FBI Director not because he was incompetent, but because Comey had dared stand up to him. The encyclopedic volume of people he has taken hateful and derogatory shots at via Twitter firmly establishes he thinks and behaves no better than a pathetically resentful grade-school bully. If somebody rejects him, he will get even. Even if it takes decades. Returning to the topic and Trumps attempt to convert the NFL players message and fan flames of misguided patriotism against the NFL organization is purely a direct result of his sound defeat and subsequent humiliation by the exclusive members-only club of NFL ownership. He is still pissed-off and by god, the NFL will pay... "In 1985, the USFL voted to move from a spring to a fall schedule in 1986 to compete directly with the NFL. This was done at the urging of New Jersey Generals majority owner Donald Trump and a handful of other owners as a way to force a merger between the leagues. As part of this strategy, the USFL filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the National Football League in 1986, and a jury ruled that the NFL had violated anti-monopoly laws. However, in a victory in name only, the USFL was awarded a judgment of just $1, which under anti-trust laws, was tripled to $3.[2] This court decision effectively ended the USFL. The league never played the 1986 season, and by the time it folded, it had lost over US$163 million" source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Football_League Just my $0.02
  6. There's not really a lot he can say is there? 'This is tragic but is the sometimes unfortunate cost of the gun freedoms we enjoy in the US'. Unfortunate? Getting a speeding ticket is unfortunate. Suffering from a sinus cold is unfortunate.
  7. http://time.com/4955704/nfl-league-rulebook-a62-63-national-anthem-rule/ Bolding is mine. Doesn't appear mandatory to me, however I only speak the Queen's English.
  8. Just a supposition: perhaps it was about the subtle protest from the anthem singer at the Monday Night NFL game from PHX. source: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/anthem-singer-jordin-sparks-has-proverbs-318-9-on-hand-for-cowboys-vs-cardinals/amp/
  9. I agree. You should still show respect. Kneeling is one way to do that, even if it's not politically correct. It is in a Roman Catholic church. Ahem... also among traditionalists in the Church of England.

Perhaps a little more complex than that, as the North invaded the South Jun 25, 1950. The USSR exploded a nuke 10 months earlier - August 29, 1949. sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_War https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDS-1

http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2017/09/18/wiretapped-cnn-admits-trump-campaign-breitbart-news-right-mainstream-media-wrong/ From your linked page: "But for the mainstream media, it was more important to protect Obama, to demonize Trump, and to smear conservative media outlets." Yet the Breitbart piece simply squandered it's effort by defending Trump, demonizing Obama, and smearing mainstream media. And snarky gloating isn't journalism. It's childish drivel unworthy even of a school-level newspaper. I submit that opinion/editorial pieces (on either side) are not the most appropriate places to seek facts to form your own opinion.
  13. bingo. Canadians have taxes and govts that do not want to spend money on healthcare, or at least struggle with the costs. USA has insurance companies that do not want to spend money on healthcare either, and the system is rigged so that they never lose. And they can vacate the market if they like, whereas the govt cannot. Bottom line is the outcomes are better in every civilized socialist system in the world than in the USA... and that absolutely 100% solidly should be the goal....delivery and outcomes of healthcare. The US system is about the delivery of profits. faulty from the very get-go and very definition. Remove the insurance companies from the picture altogether, start delivering healthcare. I would suggest it would help exponentially if the for-profit hospital model and malpractice/product-liabilty lawyers could be removed from the mix.
  14. As has been pointed out by others previously in DZdotCalm forums and also from a surprising number of my real-life American skydiving friends, apparently non-Americans are either incapable of proper thought or not entitled to profess an opinion about anything American. Unfortunately, I've never really managed to determine which it is. I have never encountered these discussions anywhere in life except in this forum. What I am aware of is this, the majority of my posts are first attacked by Brits, Canadians, New Zealanders and lastly Germans in that order. Kallend falls in the category of a Brit in my order of nationalities. The question for me becomes, why do you foreigners stalk American thought with the objective of telling us we are wrong, stupid or blind. In my mind it would be the same as if I spied on my neighbor and then told him what he and his wife were doing inside their house was incorrect and dumb. I offer a suggestion, not so much to you but the others. Hold off and let those that live here speak first then offer your enlightened point of view rather than being the first with condemnation, disparagement or anger. In other words stop being rude. Let the Americans be rude to Americans first. It is our nature to attack from a position of safety. We are an angry people don't become an object of ridicule unnecessarily. Why do we pay close attention to the US? Here are a couple of quick examples; Your new administration wants to launch new arbitrary trade tariffs and threatens to unilaterally tear up established Trade Agreements previously contracted in good faith. Your current White House resident appears to enjoy escalating the dick-measuring nuclear game with the pissant Third World dictator in NK. The continual inflammatory rhetoric directed indiscriminately towards minorities, immigrants, refugees, and differing faiths not only embolden American trailer-trash, but our own as well. In brief then, we watch, listen and often weigh-in on all-things American because what happens within and actions taken by your country has a significant impact not only on my/our existence but on people throughout the world. However Ron, for what it's worth, I agree that there is often insufficient civility displayed by some posters here. But I've gotten away from the initial topic in this thread, so I'll go back to my chair on the side.
  15. When I was last active with my business, we cost-shared 50/50 with our employees. (NB: this was in BC - other provinces might differ, example, in Alberta, there are NO insurance premiums) Dollar cost of the monthly premium was a fixed amount; (from memory, prior to the 50/50 split) single employee - $62/mth employee and one dependent - $86/mth employee and (family) multiple dependents - $104/mth That was a while back. I no longer have employees and I have my BC Provincial medical premium to myself so my coverage for myself (61 with cancer) and one dependent (60 with Multiple Sclerosis) costs me $136/mth I listed the conditions ad ages only for reference as there are no deviations to the premium for age or conditions. A 30 year old with one dependent self-paying is the same amount. Same-sex couples and unmarried co-inhabitants included. Again, in Alberta there is no premium at all, the same in ON - I think?
  16. Could you kindly elaborate? All these countries have private health insurance for sale. It's not all straight single-payer NHS. I can only speak from my own experience. We have private insurers that offer incidental policies that cover various things like prescription eye glasses, routine dental, some med's not prescribed in out-patient care. None of these insurance offerings change my place in queue for any medical procedure or test. None of these offerings provide alternative medical treatments or an alternative medical system. I do not need to subscribe to these private offerings to access any or all of the best medical care provided in Canada. I can't speak to the other nations you made claim of. Incidentally: for comparison, I required an ambulance in my hometown just 6 weeks ago. I also needed an ambulance in Eloy in January 2016. My ambulance ride in Arizona (03/16) - $1500 USD. My ambulance ride in Canada - $65 (apprx $52 USD) Had an MRI done in Tempe, AZ (Nov/16) - $900 USD My recent MRI in Canada - $ nada 4 days of emergency care in AZ - $152,000 USD* (reduced to $88,000* by my out-of-country insurance carrier) 27 days weeks hospitalization in Canadian ICU inluding 9 days of induced coma, and a massive battery of scans, daily x-rays, MRI's, & enough med's to choke a mule - $ nada In fairness though, we don't own any aircraft carriers.

We are a most nefarious bunch, don't you know.
  20. The issue that always arises is that by choosing to ignore uncomfortable people, events, and/or politicians, they are empowered to grow even stronger, more defiant and cause even greater damage. Damages that often inflict very heavy personal tolls on innocent individuals. Claims of Arpaio's bigotry aside, in his role as a "law enforcement officer" he purposefully and publicly defied a lawful order of the Court supporting the US Constitution. To defend him, or worse yet, to defend the (imho) premature Presidential pardon is not an act of patriotism.
  21. The message is that, once again, Trump doesn't understand what he can and cannot do, and/or doesn't understand the words he uses. Arpaio would have to apply for the pardon at least 5 years after being released after serving his time. Why is that? As far as I was aware the power of the President to pardon offenders at any time after the offence took place (even before they are indicted, let alone tried, convicted and time served) was absolute. Nixon was blanket-pardoned by Ford prior to any formal charges being filed. source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pardon_of_Richard_Nixon (ETA source link)
  22. Same reason I throw a ball for my dog. You can forward the funds for my new keyboard via email interac, thank you.
