  1. Hmmm. I guess my worst skydiving injury has to be the time i scrubbed the knuckle on my right index finger when I stumbled on a landing. It was really bad. Had to wear a plaster for three or four days. It was a true nightmare. Be careful, you hear, be careful. BI ----------------------------------------

  3. QuoteJust remember with more rules you will probally be seeing rules like no wing loadings above 1:1 for your first 100 jumps, 300 jumps for elliptical, 500 for 1.5 loadingsreply] In Norway rules like this have been established this summer. The last year we have had a quite large number of accidents where wingload, lack of experience and so on have been factors. Therefor our safetyboard came up with some new rules: 0-200 jumps: max wingload is 1:1.1, stilettos, crossfires etc. are not allowed. 200-350 jumps: max wingload is 1:1.3, vx etc. not allowed. 350 -500 jumps: max wingload: 1:1.6. More than 500 Jumps: Individual evaluation of each skydivers skills/capabilities. These are ABSOLUTE wingload/experience "guidelines" . BI ----------------------------------------

  13. Have you checked the lines? At 500-600 jumps it could be a good idea to get a new set of lines. But it cost $$$$ BI ----------------------------------------

    Lefties. UNITE

HEY!!! THATS NOT FUNNY.... My mother is left handed, and she always bought left hand scissors. Throughout my childhood I have never been able to cut out pictures from magazines and so on. All of my friends had a lot of pictures of popstars (usually large breasted ones ) on the walls of their rooms, insidee their school notebooks etc. What about me?? Nope. Those damn scissors... The case did not get any better by the fact that my sister, grandmother, and all of my uncles and aunts also were left handed. No right handed scissors to be found anyware. DAMN YOU ALL.... 15. This has happened at least three times that I have heard of, here in Norway. The jumpers have been able to release themselves all three times. Hook knifes can be helpeful sometimes. There also was an incident many years ago, where a C-206 had to land with a jumper hanging under the aircraft. The jumper got himselv entagled with a staticline at exit. A firetruck sprayed the grassy area next to the runway with foam, the pilot landed gently, and the jumper just got a few bumps and bruises. ----------------------------------------
  16. The same way you exit a 727 at 250mph...... I guess... BI ----------------------------------------

    Back in the air

I have to jump a student rig the first 20 jumps. Sold my last rig a few years ago (Zerox rig with a Fury main ), so I am looking around for something new. Well, actually I am looking something used. New regulations in Norway say that jumpers with less than 200 jumps can't have higer wingload than 1.1:1. But 190sq.ft Sabre/Spectre and so on are impossible to get here. Everyone seem to have jumped 170 or smaller. Jumped a 240 Navigator yesterday, and it was WAY faster/responsive than the canopy I used to jump. (My Fury main really sucked!!!) Can't imagine what its like to jump Crossfires/Stillettos. And I have no intentention of ever trying either. Prefer a slow, boring canopy ride. Within reason that is

    Back in the air

I did my first skydive in 5 years yesterday. It's great to be back in the air.
  19. When the founders of my skydiving club learned to skydive in the early 70's, they jumped from a cub. One flew the airplane, the other one jumped, and vice versa. ----------------------------------------

  21. Basejumping to be banned in Norway? The news now (I am referring to to norwegian newspapers) is that the sister of the BASE jumper who died, want the rescueworkers, some policeofficers and a helicopterpilot charged with involuntary manslaughter. She also want BASE jumping to be banned in Norway, because her brothers death "was barbaricly evil, on the boundary to mental and physical terror". She also wants to bring this case to the european human rights court in Strasbourg, if the case is beeing dismissed in norwegian courts. She says that: "it is clear that he (her broter) was under the impression that help would only be minutes away if an accident accured". I do not know what to say... This is just sad, very sad. ----------------------------------------
  22. No, I don't think there are any such fund. Bi ----------------------------------------
  23. The sister of a 52 year old stuntman who died when Base jumping at Kjerag (Norway) two years ago, has pressed charges against the local police and rescueworkers. She claims that hesitation by the rescueworkers caused her brothers death. Members of the voluntary alpine rescueforce are now questioning whether it is worth the effort or not, Rescuing people from 2000-3000 ft. cliffs, voluntary, unpaid work by the way, at the risk of getting sued yourself. They are working under extreme conditions, risking their own lives. Without these brave men and women, BASE jumping would be banned instantaneous. Anyone that have seen Kjerag knows that it does take some time to climb up and rescue someone hanging 1500-2000 ft up. I am not an BASE jumper myself, but the general population and politicians do not see the difference between BASE and Skydiving. New laws and regulations will affect us all. You can read more about the accident itself here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4033926,00.html and here:http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4115043,00.html ---------- Be safe !
  24. Yesterday (july 29) a 34 year old male BASE jumper got knoked unconcius, and almost drowned when he performed a cutaway at aprox. 60 feet above the water. His condition is now reported to be stable. I have only read articles in newspapers about this incident, but it seems to me as he miscalculated his altitude. This is by the way the third incident at Kjerag the last seven days. There has been a lot of bad publicity for BASE jumping (and skydiving) in Norwegian media lately. See also my post in the "skydiving talk back" forum, about legal actions against rescue workers at Kjerag.
