Ahh! We may not agree on WW2, but we have some common ground here! t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. Ahh. I worry about you Aggie... No wonder so many country songs are about your woman leaving with your pickup truck... You're supposed to take those hot women, take a cowboy hat off them, some jeans, a t-shirt and take them out from behind the wheel of a big pickup truck...DAMN! You'll learn.... t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. I had no idea Aggiedave looked like that! t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. Well! Nice to see things from both sides of the fence! Chute Shop has many loyal customers in SA and abroad, and I have no doubt that if they've survived the last 20 years, that they'll probably manage the next 20 too. t It's the year of the Pig.

Quote: "but that doesn't mean that i have to do it extra, does it? " No, it doesn't, and I commend anyone for making ANY effort to shrink the human footprint on this planet, whether it be by birth control, recycling, using solar heating, cycling to work, adding an extra blanket rather than an electric one etc Here in Africa, if the game is not hunted, it has little ecconomic value, and that piece of bush would soon be plowed under and have sheep grazing on it, lost forever to humans and their ever growing needs. Tourism helps, but hunting is highly controlled and very sustainable, and over 65% of the income recieved by conservation bodies comes from hunters alone. It's those who have walked in the wild who most need the wild to walk in. I'm not talking about the drunken idiots who drive around killing things to prove something to themselves or their friends. There is a line somewhere between shooters, killers and hunters. Most people feel they're on the right side of that line, but many are not. t It's the year of the Pig.

I don't hunt anymore. When I did, I often spent days in the bush without shooting anything. It's about being out there, seeing things you can't see from a 4 x 4, hearing your place in the world. Personally, if I were human prey - I'd prefer to be killed instantly while grazing in the wild - than fed steroid packed food in captivity, and then loaded into trucks and driven 100 miles to a death camp and slaughtered for public consumption. Good for you being a veggie. Ethics are a better motivation than diet. You still kill to live though. Want to get into the ethics of what has more right to life? Human or Animal, Animal or Plant? We're all part of the same cycle. Expecting humans not to kill is like expecting dogs not to bark. We are the deadliest spiecies this planet has ever seen. Do you drive a car? Use deoderant or dish washing liquid? Make phone calls? Watch TV? If so - you're a killer, consuming more natural resources in an hour than a herd of buffalo do in a lifetime. Welcome to the human race. t It's the year of the Pig.

Sorry - SA revolvers allowed - Rule was to keep out the Semi's, and the DA's got nailed in the fallout. t It's the year of the Pig.

Sounds good. Here we have a few others, like no shot to be taken within 500 yards of a vehicle, and no hunting permitted with a firearm capable of firing repeat shots with a pull of the trigger only. (No semi's or revolvers) If you wound it, you track it. t It's the year of the Pig.

  17. Quote: "Never expected a frustrated 'your a pussy' answer for just making a safety point? " I fail to see how my comment "A paintball will not penetrate a canopy." can be taken that way. A punch or kick to the head can kill a person, but will make no mark on a canopy. I've done a lot of Crew. The safety risk here is one of collision or "colateral damage" to those on the ground. When people try and catch stuff, sometimes they do. Play any combat flight sim, and you'll have collisions. t It's the year of the Pig.

  19. Yeah. But if you are using them for skydiving, a slit in the foam solves that. Major hazard is lack of peripheral vision. I used swim goggles for skydiving in 1986. They were WAY cooler than brown Kroops... t It's the year of the Pig.

  22. Whenever I think of safety, I try and "work back from the incident." as suggested once from a fellow instructor. So there you are, in the open field, with the cops. Ambulance not there yet - no hurry, flies buzzing at the bits, ants at the picnic, two dudes covered in paint, blood, wrapped in lines, with guns on their heads, holding hook knives... And the cop asks... "So tell me again what they were doing?" t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. We limit AFF and SL to 220lbs Reason for this is reserves are TSO'd at 250lbs and gear is less than 30lbs. Tandem is person and weather dependant to an all up weight of 450lbs. Our DZ is 5000 ft ASL, so the big boys have some speed - even on 290 sq ft canopies. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Liberia - why?

"The US saved France from learning how to speak fluent German. They liked it when the US flew over to bomb Germany, but 40 years later, they didn't allow the US to fly over to bomb Libya." Wrong. The allies saved France from learning to speak fluent german. The US was not the only country at war. The US was, and remains, the only country ever to have used WMD's to secure victory, dispite it's attempts to mantain the moral high ground in this regard. The US ignored the invasion of Poland, Holland, Belgium and France, and only became involved in the war over 2 years later when its Pacific fleet was decimated at Pearl Harbour in a Pre emptive strike by the Japanese - a technique the US and the UK are quite current at, dispite refering to others use of such technique as a "day of infamy" My point was not whether politicians should be able to see 15 years into the future, but more that if a country has a policy of fueling conflict against its enemies by using unstable groups - that such groups are likely to remain unstable - and unpredictable. t It's the year of the Pig.
