  1. Attention USPA members! Should the USPA adopt Wingsuiting at Nationals? We need your votes to request that Wingsuiting be added as a Nationals discipline! Please sign our petition: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/USPAWingsuiting "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  2. Jeff, Nice write up on the suit impressions. I wanted to toss some info I felt with the suit. After doing a few jumps on the "Swurve" (I think that is it) and trying it in a number of situations, flocking, camera (on top and on back underneath formation), playing with transitions and pushing it at the end it left me wanting to play with it some more. I agree with what Jeff noted that there is lots of power and when asked to "GO" the suit responds. Felt like there was a huge envelope for doing what I needed it to do despite the arms being about 2" too short on me. It was very intuitive on its back and the transitions did not feel hindered and were actually pretty easy. Arch it out on its back and you could feel the ride up. Construction is not lacking and there were a number of fabric options from Lightweight to "beefy". Walt was awesome to talk to and you could tell his passion for what he was doing. As Jeff noted the "Launch" is what I would call silent/soft as he is doing the pre-steps of getting his duck in a row which is smart. I am very interested to try one of the suits that actually fits to see how it flys. I always say that there is no one suit that can do everything but my initial impressions on this is that it covers of lot of bases for a all around suit for sure.. I will look forward to the opportunity to fly one that fits and explore its range a bit. I did not get a chance to play with the "performance" line of suits but hope that opportunity presents itself as some point as they are impressive. Scott C. R-Bird II

That looks a lot closer to a Ghost3 cut. I had almost expected that on the R2B2 but that in comparison to your pic has a similar tail but bigger arms. Great flying suit though. I am guessing the R Bird II will fly nice on its back from he look of the balance it should offer. Looking forward to a flying review. Have fun!!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  6. Reading boards, the low light capabilities of the camera are not great. There are people that noted it was worse with the V2.16 firmware for the Roam 2 compared to the Roam 1 Firmware. A Contour employee replied that it was designed for use in daylight. That said you have a good number of adjustments you can do and there are a number of pre installed settings you can pull from. In addition to doing some manual adjustments as well AutoWhiteBalance(AWB) (0)AUTO (1)2800K_Incandescent (2)4000K_Flourescent (3)5000K_DaylightD50 (4)6500K_DaylightD65 (5)7500k_Cloudy (6)9000k_Shade (7)10000k_XenonHID In addition to doing some manual adjustments as well including Contrast, Sharpness and Exposure. Big long thread on another forum talking about pros/cons, how to do it and in general lots of chatter... Chat board on Firmware update Hope that helps some.. Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. How To Upgrade ROAM1 into ROAM2.. I was having trouble just recently with my Contour Roam Ver 1 (model 1600) FW version 1.1 It started getting a error and would stop recording in the middle of a record. Turn it on and it would just beep. Card (16GB) only half full so ended up having to reset a few times to trick it into working and was going to just get a new one cheap online so I figured I might as well play with this one some. Looking online I ran across this firmware upgrade and after reading a bit more decided what the hell. It was super easy and the below steps worked. Be sure to reformat the card while in the camera after the Firmware update. I now see all the extra lighting features (though it still sucks in low light so I should play with that some more) and I have Action HD which is 720p at 60fps which was not in the Roam 1 Software. Storyteller will see it as a Contour 2 Roam. If you would like to Upgrade your FW to 2.16, which is the one the Contour ROAM2 uses (it includes 60fps recording and many more upgrades), here are the steps. *Go to the contour homepage and download the current Contour2 Firmware V2.16 *Download Firmware V2.16 -> you get the file "ContourRoam2.bin" *Rename the file to "ContourRoam.bin" *Plug the ContourROAM1 camera into your computer using a USB cable. Check to see that the Record slider is not in the forward (or ON) position. Once connected, the Battery LED on the ContourROAM1 will turn red and the camera will appear as an external USB device on your computer. *On your computer, navigate to the camera which is mounted as an external storage device. *Copy the ContourROAM.bin file that you downloaded and renamed in Step 2 to the camera's microSD card. Do not put it in any subfolders on the camera's microSD card. *On the microSD card of the camera will be a file called FW_RTC.txt. The file may be hidden and you may need to enable the ability to view hidden files in your computer's settings. Open the FW_RTC.txt file with a text editor application. *Near the top of the file is a line of text that reads `UPDATE_FW:N'. Change the `N' to a `Y' so it appears as `UPDATE_FW:Y' and save the file. This will instruct your camera to update the firmware when it next starts up. *Unplug the camera from your computer. *Press and release the Status Button. The camera will beep and the Memory and Battery LEDs will flash while the update is in progress. When the update is completed the camera will beep again and turn off. *If the camera keeps beeping after pressing the Status Button, just format the SD Card once again, holding the format button with a clip for 15 seconds. *That's it, now you have all Roam2 functions on your Roam1 including 720p with 60 FPS. *If you want, open the StoryTeller App on your PC and check if a Contour Roam2 will be recognized under "Devices". Worked great so if any of you are using the Roam, this might be something to look at doing. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  8. I was privileged to organize the newly set Canadian Wingsuit Record last weekend at Parachute Montreal. We set the record with a great group of 26 jumpers. The formation looked FANTASTIC and broke the existing record of 9 set last year.. A big Congratulations to everyone involved.

  10. With a 16 way I have the base generally come from inside 2nd or 3rd. The floaters all drive up line of flight until the base initiates the turn. The floaters are all generally filling in the left side (assuming the required turn is left) while the rest of the divers are skewed to the right side. Clean way to do it and traffic should not be an issue as people are in the optimal situation are exiting in the approach order. Should not have to pass someone. Scott C. 11. Awesome Thread to read through... Keep at it as it is obvious you have come a long way on this project and I hope the end is somewhere in sight! Absolutely love seeing someone push down the road of innovation!
  12. I thought that as well but the tail wing looks like it might not extend past the heel which made me think Raptor. Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  13. Thanks to everyone that showed up and made the event AWESOME this year!! Lots of Jumps, All types of formations, Great Times were had!
  14. Looks like a Raptor from Tony Suits. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  15. I had wondered if there might be a few changes but that was the closest thing I had. Thanks for noting that there were some and now I am wondering what they are.. I will reach out to USPA and see what I can find.. Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

    House of Cards

Very well done series. Kevin Spacey does a FANTASTIC job. I like the interactions with the viewers sprinkled in, "Did you think I forgot about you?"... . I might need to look for the BBC version now but don't know if I will binge watch that... Scott C "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  17. John, I believe that the CSPA rules that came out Spring of last year were what the IPC criteria were said to be. We used these to set an official CSPA record at Eden North near Edmonton at the Provincials/Gavin Days boogie last summer. CSPA judges were on site for the FS and they were very interested in the WS side of things. Attached is the CSPA rules and I have highlighted the Winsuit portions for ease. Hope that helps, Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  18. Yes body size can alter performance.... I know all too well as my weight has fluxed up and down (up a little now ) Much Like Lurch, the S-Bird has been my go to suit for a good bit of time now. It is trickier to back fly then other suits but the performance I can generate is outstanding.... Went to it from a Raptor and Ghost (1) class suits and it was an easy transition. The only other thing to note is that the "bird" cut on the arms was to take some drag out of the equation which worked fantastic. It also took a little of what I call "Wing Hang" ability at slower forward speeds. You can defiantly do it in the S but the technique is a little different and the suit performs better in the middle to upper sections of the performance envelope.... 19. Currently I ride a Suzuki V-Strom 650. Love it with Givi bag set, aftermarket seat and adjustable Windscreen. Have also had Honda Shadow 1100 Yamaha SECA II 650 Yamaha Virago 750 Riding = good times!
  20. I have been extremely with my FreeFall Accessories Altimeter. It is analog and has worked flawlessly for the years I have used it. I worked with them and have a custom face. Great service and if you are looking at an analog unit take a look... http://www.freefallaccessories.com/altimeters.html Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  22. Not a HUGE formation but absolutely a great start. As I told everyone that was participating, it might get broken but nobody can take away the fact that this group set the FIRST Canadian record for the CSPA. The Judges that were on site and showed a high interest in learning about WS'ing and requested some time to ask questions. They were genuinely interested in learning more and I was happy to oblige and think it was fantastic for them to be interested in getting more knowledge on this discipline. The entire weekend was filled with lots of learning on Flocking and included lots of Fun by all. If you have not been Eden North near Edmonton Alberta, it is a very nice facility with a great staff and DZO... A big thanks out to them and the ASPA for support over the weekend. Lots of pictures can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/scott.callantine/media_set?set=a.10151699178444921.1073741826.690989920&type=1 Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  23. It is in the spring next year, plenty of time to figure that stuff out..... Just make it happen! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  24. Simon, You have a built in opportunity to just post here and see what happens. Just do it about a week before heading to a DZ and BAMMMM, you will have an answer. I do 100% agree that at any DZ, it is the DZO's sandbox and they can do what they want. Just because I want to jump out of their airplane(s), does not mean I have a God given right to do whatever the hell I want. Secondly, I don't remember the last time I traveled with a logbook and have never really been questioned about that. On one occasion that I was questioned about currency by Manifest, the DZO came out saw me said "Hey Scott, its been awhile" asked me how I was doing and that pretty much ended the manifest persons questions. Finally and IMO, WS brings in a different level of responsibility on both sides especially with a much keener eye that is now being cast with all the hubalouuuu that has been going on the last few years. If a DZ had some guidelines and after going over them resulted in a question about an unknown to that DZ WS jumpers ability, refer to the "Sandbox" comment above. Scott C.
