  1. Yes, you and MAAAAAANNNNNY OTHERS MUST attend event!!
  2. I owe you a beer for making me laugh so hard I spit on my screen. Chuck Glad to be of service Chuck! Friday night festivities includes "Flock 'n Chug" folks. Land, zip up, drink beer....simple....or is it? Put Chug at the end of about anything and I am a Fan.. Wickky, you rock...... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  3. Get registered!!! I want to Fly with you!!
  4. The two suits are quite different and do what they do well. The big advantage that I see the Ghost 3 having is being a better balanced Back Flying suit. Can you backfly a S-Bird, absolutely, but I might give the nod to the G3 for that. In terms of Performance the S-Bird is hands down better, again in MY opinion. It is tough to compare the two as the S-Bird class suit is more comparable to a Vampire class suit. The Ghost 3 is comparable to a suit that does not really exist, a Super Mach Wing with a Raptor tail. You have to ask yourself what you want to do and that will tell you the direction to go. Personally I fly a S-bird for almost all applications and find it to have a huge range of performance to work within. Just my quick thoughts... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  5. I am not sure when the Core was developed but the Fusion has been around for a number of years. The Core might be the first production model available but the Fusion is a number of years old and never really a production model as I understand it. Scott C. 6. With all that fly's around on the internet, I am finding myself more and more purposely ambivalent to any response on what is here, especially the fighting.. Simon, your post is the voice of reason! Scott C.
  7. Looks like a cross between a Ghost3 / Havok (size looks in between the 2 but w/o grips) and S-Bird leg wing. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  8. Personally I loive my S-Bird. I find it is very comparable with the V series. Some say it might be a little slower forward but the float I find to be better. That said you can get it to go very fast forward as well. Really good I find also in Flocks. Try one if you really want to compare the two suits. I consider them in the same class just below the super big suits (X's, Apache and Venom suits) Try and decide for yourself if you can. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  9. As far as a wind tunnel, less than 2 hours south in Seattle there is a 14' recirc tunnel that is very nice. Also for jumping Snohomish is just over an hour south. Many weekends in the summer they are running 2 caravans compared to 1 normally flying. If you want to drive a bit more Skydive Kapowsin is usually running an Otter or a Grand Caravan as well. In my experience, the costs are noticeable less to jump at Snohomish or Kapowsin compared to the Canada DZ options. Throwing ot out there as more options for you to consider. Different places different vibes, all fun opportunities to play in the air. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  10. www.itv.com/news/meridian/2012-05-23/gary-falls-to-earth/ WOW, the video from the Helicopter exit towards the bottom of this link (Other jumper using a parachute) is amazing.. DAMN the landing pile of Boxes looks SMALL......... You can see exactly where Gary landed in the boxes.. Scott C. Found a video shot of it from the side as well. There is not much room for error at all... HUGE BALLS OF STEEL.. http://youtu.be/LOw3nyso90c "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  11. It would be interesting to see a top view (even if in a drawing) of where exactly he "landed" compared to the length and width of the box pile. I would also be interested to see how quickly he was slowed down and finally ended in terms of horizontal and vertical distance into the box pile relative the first point of contact. Huge Balls and amazing to walk away, can't say enough for actually making it happen. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  12. This post makes me laugh... Renting just about anything anything is more expensive than the actual cost of ownership. The source of the rented item has costs associated and took the risk putting something together and maintaining it. As as example I bought a 18" chainsaw for about $200 but before that, thought about renting one for a day at a rate of $45. Well, made sense to buy in my case since I need it more long term but if I only needed it for that one day or was not sure if it made more sense to own, the smaller investment works out. If what WW is noting is there, Helmet (~$200), Flysight (~$250), Speaker and mounting stuff for Flysight (~$25), GoPro (~$200).. Lets just round the cost to $600. If you don't have the components and want to try it out in this configuration renting for a day or longer for what is likely less than the needed ~$600 to set your own up can make sense.... Scott C. 13. http://www.aliensuits.com/?page_id=65 There is not a leg cutaway. Jeff was referring to the way to open your legs for Housekeeping. They are noting a double zipper on the leg and arm in case one zipper jams. I just noted the link to one of the pages they have up "Innovation with Safety in Mind" Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  14. I agree with lots of what Jeff noted. The construction is outstanding and really sets a strong standard with the fabrics and workmanship. The fabric (suit) is heavy but you don't really feel that in the air at all. The suit wants to go fast forward. Inflation is also top notch and Fidel loves to get his leaf blower out to demonstrate the inflation. Also the fact that they have a sub 4 week lead time is a nice bonus if you need a suit asap. I also agree that the suit flies a little differently. I have jumped the G12 and the G7 and a G7/5 hybrid I think? There are some interesting thoughts that went into it with the inflation in the chest panel and grippers. The internal routing of the leg zipper for housekeeping was interesting and easy to use. The pull was easy but it required more of an arm sweep back and around to clear the wing, but again I was jumping the bigger suits. Flying the suits I have jumped are not difficult but not the same as other suits. Think about the differences you experience with a PF or Tony suit so a few jumps to get used to it likely will be needed. That said I was able to have a great range in the G7 for both Video jumps and for flying with others. The G12 I was jumping was more of a "I wanna GOOO" suit so it required a bit more effort to fly with others. Fun suit though for the application this design is suited for. Though I did not feel I was dialed into the slowest vertical flight I could, more jumps for that obviously. With some more jumps on this I think I could better explore the slow fall range possible, but like I noted, it does want to go fast forward. Between the two of them I found the overall "range" suit would be the G7 as I found it similar to the S-Bird but with maybe with a little more forward speed when flown correctly. Most of my jumps are on an S-Bird now so that is my point of comparison. I do fly the X2 some as well. Fidel seems to really like the G5 and when he was flying base on a number of Jumps at FnD a few weeks back and the range he set was comfortable for a wide range of suits in the different flocks. If you are interested in them, reach out and find out where you can fly one. One jump in a flock is probably not the best place to go try it but I would say that you will have a good time with the suit. Like anything give it a few jumps as it is different in how you fly it. Not drastically but more like the differences you see new between brands. I am a big believer that it is hard to have one suit that is the catch all for everything you want to do. Hopefully I will get some more jumps soon on the G7 with some flysight data to note so I can go from what I am feeling to some quantifiable data. I am sure the suits will get tweaked a bit as it is a newer company but what I am seeing now is interesting and the performance makes me want to see what more these suits can do. Scott C. 16. Tony posted this on a FB thread that had a picture of a Apache XRW suit: "it has 4" less arm sweep, 3" higher arm ribs, a cambered airfoil and the X Bird leg, gives it more range" Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  17. Thanks for the replies, I bought a ROAM from Trunk today and will try it out next week. I wanted to play around more with Stills but not wear my dual camera helmet. Hopefully this will allow me to grab "good" video for looking at and playing with. I will slap on the CX100 when I need a better vid. Just want to keep some weight off my neck... We will see how it goes and look for some pics and impressions later.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  18. Seems like the Roam is missing a few features and was simplified. Who has experience with both? I am looking to get one of them but it seems that the differences will dictate the direction. The Roam has a 170deg field and the HD is only 135deg. I jump my Main vid as a CX100 with a raynox 3032 and I am guessing it would be in between the two but probably closer to the 135 field. The Roam does not do 60fps with a more limited set of settings compared to the HD. I searched and yes there is some info but any experience with each and opinions would be appreciated. 21. Looks pretty clearly to be a collapsed PC. Bridle at extension dancing around and no drag can be seen in the video and in some of the grabs. Agree with the others that noted it on this, be sure you have cocked the PC. Did you pack it or did you use a packer? Nice job on getting the reserve out... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  22. Well, lots of claims of high GR's that are taken in a short window of measurement, but in measured events for skydiving taken from PPC, here are the standards that have been set over a 1,000 meter vertical competition window. http://www.paralog.net/ppc/showdistancecomp.php Personally I would like to see a "iron man" version of this going through a competition window of 2.5K (8202 feet) to 3K (9842 feet) to add to the endurance factor. Exit at 14,000 feet and enter the window at 13,000 to 13,500 feet depending on the window for the competition. This takes away a "dive advantage" similar to what was done at the recent Skydive Elsinore event. Puts a premium on performance over an entire flight, no dives just sustained flight. Scott C.
