  1. My name is KrishanShiva Khalsa. I am the Operations Assistant for a large Security Company in the Southwest. Basically just office work, but it's cool, cause I dont have to do one set thing every single day, I'm always working on different projects. I'm a private pilot now, but hope to make a living flying someday. Blues.
  2. On my first 20 or so jumps, I was scared shitless on the rides to altitude, but as soon as I was out of the plane, BOOM, the fear was totally gone. I guess there is no reason to fear when you are "home" right??????
  3. Damn, all I gotta a say is, Michele, YOU ROCK!!!! I swear, I have got to meet you someday. Your writing kicks so much ass. Good job on the awesome jump. Keep up the great work. Krishan
  4. I live in NM and our dz is at 5000 feet. There is always oxygen available in jump planes that are at high elevation dz's. Most people dont need it cause they are used to it. The only real restriction is the 18,000 ft MSL Class A Airspace that you can go above unless you have filed an instrument flight plan and received clearance. Most of us have no problem going to right below 18,000 msl to jump. Now whether our planes can get there is another story. So basically the determining factor is how much space there is between ground level and 18,000 above sea level.
  5. Hey I'm from New Mexico and its more like 750-1000 balloons. It's called the Balloon Fiesta and it is awesome to watch, they all go up at once. A few friends of mine did a balloon jump during it last year. If you've got a friend here who is willing to take jumpers, I'm sure there are plenty of people here willing to pay for that.
  6. i used to own a saber 170. I bought it new a year ago. I would not recommend it now, at least not the current version. I ended up getting rid of mine due to the fact that the openings sucked. I never really got super whacked on opening, but enough to tire of, especially with a camera. I did really like the way if flew though. I have jumped a spectre 150 and it seemed slower and a little less responsive, but I dont think I put enough jumps on it to really learn its characteristics. I did also get kinda smacked on the specter. It snivelled for 500 is feet and then just inflated the rest within half a second, that one kinda hurt. I just ordered a Lotus 150. It is an airlocked canopy, made by BigAir Sportz, by the guy that invented airlocks. It can be compared to a saber, only it's slightly tapered and of course it has airlocks. Oh and there is a full money back guarantee if you dont like it. Anyway, good luck

    1st canopy

the crossfire would not be a good first canopy. It is very elliptical and high performance. Stay away from it for at least a few hundred jumps.
  8. Dan, I have a 26" Mirage factory pc that came with my mirage. I'll be jumping a 150 when I get it, what do you think as far as that size? Should I look for a smaller pc? I have had many hard openings that I thought were due to my sabre, but now I have doubts. blues

The rest I can figure out.
  10. It's true man. Those guys totally rock. I met some of them over the holiday boogie and then again a couple of weeks ago. It's cool cause they actually remembered me and my name. They are totally friendly. Maybe it helps when you sell t-shirts for them, but still. Is is true that they didnt win gold in the 8-way in spain?
  11. How much does a cobalt go for?
  12. Is a cobalt considered a high performance or intermediate canopy. I am current in the market for a new main.
  13. There are no reviews for the Lotus.

    Close Call

damn, that's sketchy. Glad everything ended okay. You know what they say about borrowed gear..............
  15. Who out there owns/has jumped a Lotus, by Brian Germain's company, Big Air Sportz? I am seriously considering getting one. Now I have heard that airlocks make a canopy more docile, is that at all true? I think I want to stick to 9 cells, as they are faster. SkymonkeyOne, Rigger Rob? Thanks in advance for any input.
  16. I think as long as you keep an eye on them and make sure that they are not hanging on by a millimeter of rubber, they wont break. Just replace them as they need it. There is not really much stress put on them when they are stowed, just the process of stowing them is when they break, as they are being stretched over the lines. Also only the locking stoes are critical, some systems dont even have stoes for the lines other than the locking stoes, they are just s-folded inside a pocket of sorts outside of the d-bag.
  17. As far as I know, they are cords, or straps that you put around your thumb and they run through the inside of your suit to your side, so when you fully extend your arm, it creates a kind of wing by stretching the fabric. Camera guys use them alot.
  18. I have an A-3 and I love it. It did flip open in sit once, but didnt not rip off luckily, I just re-closed it and it was fine. I think I didnt close it all the way. It is comfy as hell and I love it in summer with the lens off and goggles. I got mine custom painted for well below the base standard price. I guess it's who you know. Blues

Hey, that is awesome Lisa. Congrats, it must feel great. I'm sure you'll get it all back soon enough. Hey, on another note. I want to buy one of the canopies that SQ1 has on the shelf, but need a few weeks do have all the money together, can you hold it for me? Let me know.
  20. I cant be there Saturday, but I'm planning on being there on Thursday the 14th. Take the day off and come and join me. Monk did you get my email about flying?
  21. sorry about that Lisa and Pammi, I didnt know you didnt want that out there. I got a mirage too and dont think it'll be a problem as I only load my current canopy at 1.15. I edited the post stating the potential problem. Krishan
  22. I asked Pammi about this too. She sent a reply with wording from SkyBytch. Contact Skybytchh or Pammi for it.
  23. Question: How is the strength of a soft link or slink compared to that of a 3.5, or a 4 or a 5 for that matter?
  24. I'd say just drill a hole in it to give it more room. Just wondering how are you mounting the light indicator on your sidewinder? Do you have a ring site on it or just attaching it to the lens somehow?
  25. Hey y'all. What's the license number of the oldest skydiver you know? We have an instructor in NM whose license is D-412, now that is OLD. I think he has 15,000 ish jumps. Are there any other really old timers out there? Blues Krishan C31555
