  1. Well Mirage recieved my pilot chute today and I called Bill Hallet about it. He didnt seem to think that the support tape not being on the bias made much of a difference. He did think that my 26" zp pc was too small though. I started jumping a 170 sq ft canopy and now jump a 150. Always had a delay. They are going to make me a 28"zp or 30" f1-11 pc and will make sure the support tapes are sewn on the bias as is normally they standard. Overall, I'm happy with the response from Mirage.
  2. I really do not like any delay between throwing out and the pin getting pulled. I'm not worried about hard openings, cause I have a pocketed slider. I just like to know that things are happening as soon as I let go of the pud. I've had at least a couple of pc's in tow that lasted 2-3 seconds. Sure that's not a long time, but it sure feels like it when it's happening.
  3. My rig only has about 230 jumps on it. There is no slack in the lenghts of tape in the pilot chute when it is fully cocked, so I dont think the kill line has shrunk.
  4. Well I just checked the pilot chute of my Mirage G3, bought in August of 2000, and guess what, according to Bill's aritcle up top, they put the support tape on the mesh on wrong (that is, not on the "bias") and it stretches below the apex. This kind of pissed me off. A company like Mirage doing this??? That is surprising. damn, this sucks. My openings, ever since I got my rig, have almost always had a delay from when I throw out to when I feel the pin get pulled. I emailed Mirage about it today, we'll see what they say.
  5. The video's on your site are awesome. Nice editing job. Sweet.
  6. I mounted my cam eye ll onto my optic. That too does not have any flat places to mount it (other than the places for the cameras). I just super-glued the thing to the side and then gaffer taped all around the sides. It's solid.
  7. I saw some freaky shit out in Eloy last June. The jump was uneventful, but while under canopy I could see several very developed dustdevils in the distance, like the one in the pic attached to the first post. They must have been several hundred feet high and were just lurking out there, very eire.
  8. I was in the LA area this week, so I got to visit their place and got to see all the styles as actuall suits. That was cool. And Sherry (owner?) was totally helpful. You rock.
  9. I just ordered a two piece freefly camera suit from Firefly. I think that's the best way to go. You get some awesome freefly pants and a jacket you can wear with shorts cause you can get the wings to clip on to your leg strap friction adapters. I think the idea of being able to sit with someone on their belly with the wings is just kick ass.
  10. PC110 side mounted on an optic in a dbox. About to set it up for top mount as well to see how that works out. I want to be able to swap between top and side quickly depending on the dive.
  11. I think the TRV30 just has a few more features for editing with the camera. Although if you use a computer to edit, those features really dont do you any good. So, I'd say they are pretty similar.......
  12. I've got the optic and I love it. I tried on a hawkeye but I didnt like the soft forehead. It didnt fit snug to the front of my head. I did notice something interesting on my Optik though. Try taking out the padding and look at the helmet with a bright light source behind it. There are numerous small holes in the carbon fibre covered by a clear coat (maybe it's just mine, but.....). You wont see them unless you look with light behind it. No biggie, just kinda interesting. Go with the Optik... it rocks.....
  13. I was in eloy for the new years night jump. I didnt jump that night, I was a spectator. That was some sick shit. The first guy down, made such a killer swoop, everyone was shouting. Good shit man.
  14. Anyone here tried tracking on their backs. That is some hard shit. IT make you fold up. Anyone have any pointers? The only way I can keep flat on my back is by having my arms straight out to my sides. When I try to point them towards my feet, my upper body goes low. Help, please.
  15. I just got the PC110 yesterday and cant wait to put it on a helmet. I'm seriously considering the new Bonehead Optik.
  16. Does it fit with a cam eye ll plug sticking out of the front? Also does completely protect a small wide angle lens?
  17. Do any of you out there have one of these? I saw one in a gear store and from what I recall, they were really much more boxy that other PC style d-boxes. Do you agree? For any of you who are using one of these, how are they, are they really big on a helmet? thanks........

    hi

Hey Kelly. I was gonna head out there this weekend but, I'm heading to Houston to see family instead. Glad to hear your having a good time, I'll be out there for the holiday boogie. You still gonna be there? Were you out there for the freefly boogie a couple of weeks ago?
  19. For any of you who have been jumping for a while and have used non-digital cameras, how did you deal with tape flutter in freefall? I have an old Sony Hi-8 and I've taped up everything I can think of but I still get it. Any imput. What is it that causes this anyway? thanks in advance.........
  20. I believe our dz pays ths FJC Instructor $25 per head, with a minimum of $50/day
  21. I have a Hi-8 camera and I want to be able to edit my videos only I dont have a computer capable of this yet. Do any of you know of any good, reasonable prices analog editing equipment. I'm just looking for something pretty basic, maybe with the ability to add text to the video and of course music. thanks.........
  22. 190, I should break 2000, uh, DOH, I mean 200 this weekend in Eloy. Cant wait.
  23. you know I'm truly sorry to hear that Kay. sad, so sad. :-)
  24. well I'm from NM, but I drive up to Front Range Skydivers in Calhan, CO every so often. OK, so I've only been up there once, but I plan on more trips ;-) They are only about a half hour form Colorado Springs and it's a great dz. Nice people, great facility. Since the field elevation is already at 6500, they dont usually go above 11K agl, but they've got a nice caravan. If's a fun place, try it out.
