Im curious what you mean by "pully effect". One pully does not reduce load, it simply re directs it. Right? Thanks in advance

What's the scariest thing that's ever happened to you?
propilot replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
First time I adjusted my legstraps under canopy.. I grabbed both adjusters and pulled up. I must have dropped 6 inches...felt like a foot. I screamed like a ***** for about 2 seconds..thought I had fallen out of my harness! -
I have heard of putting huge sliders on spankers to calm them down. Talk to your rigger for more info and advice on that.

I used to have a hornet 210 and would have horrible openings....I used to cringe every time i pulled..waiting till the last second because I didnt want to open After tons of try this, try that, I found something that worked for me... I used the smaller rubber bands on the locking stows, instead of the regular sized ones that i used on the line stows. havent had a hard opening since.

where is the vote for neither? Vector all the way....and I own a Mirage G3

It sounds like you have lost sight of the fact that it is supposed to be recreation, not a contest trying to prove how big your di*k is. Sparky Nah, you misunderstand/I didnt explain well enough. i dont focus like that because it is a contest to prove anything, for some reason I take offense to that suggestion. rather, I just dont want to screw up a jump that 4 other people payed 21 dollars each for. Im not trying to "prove" anything....I just like to do well.

I can relate. I do many activities that the public at large would label "extreme" or whatever (skiing in AK/UT, mountaineering, etc). But...im not sure that I have ever had an adrenaline rush.... I get butterflies...all the time... on the way up to alt, when the door opens... in freefall I am just focused. I guess that is the right word. after I land I am elated, but still..no "rush"...who knows, maybe i am getting a rush...but i dont think what I am feeling feels like something that would be described by "rush". maybe i am incapable of such a thing. for me, skydiving is about the feeling under canopy, and after I land. ..the ride to alt is filled with butterflies (every jump)...enough for me to ask myself what the hell am I doing/I want to stop right now...which comes to a point when the door opens...but after i jump....the skydive is a performance to me (must do well, got to get that point, etc)...not really enough time to think/enjoy... after I open i feel peaceful and happy, and after I land I am very excited and want to do it again right now! strange.

ughhhhh! It's a lost cause.

Okay, I know that online communication is informal, but good lord! "There" does not equal "their" Their and your are possessive forms used as modifiers before nouns. They basically mean "belonging to them" and "belonging to you," respectively: "their problem," "your idea." You're is a contraction of "you are": "You're doing fine." And there is a word functioning in various parts of speech, but basically referring to a place: "Your umbrella is over there." Also, "its" does not equal "it's"... "it's" means "it is". It's a contraction. See?

sell the car, get a cheaper used one and then you will have $ for jumping. Priorities indeed. -
I was plagued with hard openings untill I started using small rubber bands on my locking stows, and regular on the rest (instead of regular all around). food for thought
-
No, but you're a bastard.

I know im going to regret asking this.. is that male or female?
-
My problems?? uhh, sure... Im working out because I was out of shape and Im also getting new shoes because my old ones were worn out. Maybe tomorrow if I'm lucky I will work on being happier and fixing my truck. wtf
-
So in the meantime, im left with a rig in limbo. Between my custom rig not fitting well and this SB BS, I have half a mind to sell it and just get a Vector.
-
When they say this is mandatory...what does that actually mean. Is it illegal for a rigger to repack this and not comply with the AD?

Bulk buying tickets-any disadvantage
propilot replied to Unparagoned's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I bought in bulk at the beginning of last year, and intend to do it this year as well. My home dz offers a generous discount for bulk purchases....ill take full advantage ;] hrmm..deadline for bulk is Feb15.. better get to writing that check ;] -
Well, just for the record, commercial pilots to not necessarily need a class I to exercise commercial priviliges. your 182 jump pilot only needs a class II. Also, none of the med certs have much anything to do with physical capacity to lift/etc. my class I consisted of an eye test, urine test, and getting fondled.

do you land faster at a place that is a higher asl
propilot replied to xm1802's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
all other things being equal, your airspeed will be the same...but your groundspeed will be higher. I think thats right. yep, still think so hrmm or maybe that is just indicated airspeed when flying will be the same, but ground speed higher. ...yea i know thats right... hrmm but I wonder if true airspeed will change. hrmmmm hrmmmmmm *goes and gets airplane flying handbook* -
This is why the East is taking over technical jobs. No wonder kids major in business and education instead of physics and chemistry.
