Years ago I saw a man in uniform by the side of the road. I stopped and asked him if he was a cop. He said "No I'm a security guard. A lady just stopped and asked the same question. She said if I WAS a cop she'd give me a ride, and she drove off." I told him to hop in. Soon we saw a truck with a flat tire by the side of the road. He told me to pull over, so I did. He rolled the window down and said "Hey lady, if I WAS a cop I'd I change your flat for you." Then he turned and said "Drive on." I laughed my ass off!

Right on. I'm on my 3rd vw now. Put over 200G on each of my last 2, no major problems, usual stuff-brakes, batteries, a clutch cable. Didn't have to change the clutch on my last one till 160G. Good cars.

You're right, but how are you voiding the warranty? By chipping it? I would also recommend the Full synthetic oil in any late model VW engine. But no need to change it that often, every 10k is ok.

They're both good engines, with the VR6 a little more reliable. It's got the better track record. The 1.8T had early oil sludging(sp?) problems with the turbo, that was remedied by using full synthetic oil and a larger capacity oil filter. VWs are great cars, but alot of people that buy them don't realize they are a high maintenance vehicle!
