20 people from the discovery channel latin america went to Clewiston to try for first time Skydiving "tandem", and to do a small clip about it. they brought camera staff and everything to document their experience, they also hired camera man Dano & Smithy to tape the jump. Dano & Smithy they give away their tapes for free just because they figured out that the clip about skydiving will help the sport to grow! they saw the big picture they didn't charge extra for putting their work on TV. Sometimes I'm able to watch on the discovery channel a 3 min clip about skydiving film in my DZ. that small clip, I'm sure that gets people to try skydive! I feel sorry for the different people that post or have implied the following: "we don't want skydiving to became popular" because : longer waits for slots in the aircraft. thats being SELFISH shame on you! I'm sure every body that does and loves skydiving have try to get their relatives and love ones to get involve in the sport. why I try to do it?? I will like the world to share the happiness, friends, liberty, and all the beautiful things that skydiving has brought to my life!

so now are we talking about fatalities?? off course if the sports grow more an it becomes more popular of course there are going to be more fatalities "fatalities grow proportional to the number of individuals that are involve in the sport" you guys are pointing fingers to the "newies" and if you check the fatalities "parachutist april 2004" says that in the USA only 26 fatalities. from those 26 fatalities 12% students 4% A license 8% B license 4% C license 72% D license and 44% were on landing "low turn". so I really think that you should't be pointing fingers to the "newis" they are not the ones that are cousing the fatalities. how many active skydivers in the US 40.000? lets say that they make only 10 jumps a year. 40.000 X 10 = 400.000 jumps 400.000 jumps with only 26 jump fatalities that like 0.0065% thats a low number. last year they were 6 fatalities that I know of playing soccer. have you seen sumo wrestlers?? skydiving required no effort other than walk to the plane??? I don't know about you, but after a long day of skydiving and ten or fifteen jumps I'm all beat up "and I'm not in bad shape" I feel tired and most of the time I fall on sleep, the next morning wooooo boy my muscles hurt , almost the same as If I went to the gym or something. to skydive you use almost all parts of your body from head to toes. to be a good skydiver you need skills, body coordination, talent, agility. as long as I'm concern that is what a sport is all about. skydiving demands more physical effort than chez, Archery, Equestrian, Shooting, Curling Etc....... any way I will like to see that 12 year old in a DZ asking to let him jump solo because he want to do transition in head down. all I'm talking about is to create a conscience about skydiving as a sport not as the ultimate adrenaline experience, they have bush gardens and six flags for that I'm saying this because most of my friend believe I jump out of planes just for the rush "and in part I do" and they don't realized that there are physical abilities involve in it, they think that skydiviers are not athletes. why?? because the skydiving marketing present skydiving as an amusement park attraction. and thats the world mentality about skydiving my friend Medusa Get Killed or Die Trying! you are being extremist. to begin with there is no way some one can have access to a velocity 96 on jump 26 , that is way we got regulations and staff. once you get into the sport you realized that it wasn't as easy as you thought, that landing a canopie is difficult and require experience, skills, timing etc..... the fact that a 12 years old watch Evil cannivel in his modify harley davidson jumping 18 cars, doesn't mean that he's mommy will buy him a modify harley davidson and borrow him the family van to jump it infront of the house. is understand that there is additional things such as skills, training, ability etc.... I was watching TV and I realized that sports such as soccer, football, baseball, BMX, snowboarding, etc....... are pretty lucrative. They have sponsors that pay the athletes to use their brand, they appear on TV commercials, in magazines and even in billboards, and they get pay for it!!! And I'm sure none of those athletes have spent and/or spend half of what we do skydiving. We spend thousands of dollars buying containers, canopies, helmets, cameras, altimeters, ADD and all kinds of expensive equipment. In my short skydiving career I have spent approximately $8,000 and I only have 200 jumps. I'm going to take a guess on how many skydivers are in the US, approximately 4,000??? and lets say that they have spent only $3,000 in equipment "we know we spend more than that". That's 4,000 X $3000 = $12,000,000 so my question is were is the money going??? why skydiving is not as popular as surfing or snowboarding or some other sport? when will be the day that a skydiver is in the front of a Wheaties cereal box and is getting paid for it? [replySometimes these spins will mutate into a spin on all axis as one tries to get out of them. Balling up, Cannon balling, closing the wings down or doing a "style tuck", however you want to call it, is the quickest and easiest way to stop the flat spin and slow the spinning down. Anything else is just wasting valuable time and altitude. sorry my native language is not english and some times I don't understand the terms you use: cannon balling: I guess is to bring your arms to your chest and your knees to your stomach.??? style tuck: is to close the 3 wings and arch??? balling up??? and an other question apart of that flat spin what are other classes of spins?
